This was such a fun experience.!! I loved how comfortable I was the whole time, and especially while I was actually taking the pictures.! She kept making me laugh and it was just a fun, great atmosphere while photographing. I honestly didn't take any clothing but a scarf ;) but they had some to choose from. I recommend you bring your own. It was fun looking in their closets and seeing all the garments but it's just better to bring your own, some things look like they may just a tab bit too worn out. i went into this expecting a lot. perhaps too much. i did purchase the Groupon and based on all the kick butt reviews i felt that i would look awesome and no i did not need to lose that last pesky 5pounds and i'd feel like a total pin-up gal! maybe it was because they had 7 girls coming in back to back...i dunno, but i really didn't get the vibe that they were happy to see me...they seemed kinda stressed and kinda tired..and my appointment was at 10:45 in the morning..i came in with a positive attitude and the make-up part and hair was good... but i really got the sense that the photographer wasn't all warm and fuzzy towards me. she did pose me in all those awkward angles that are supposed to make you look pin up worthy...but i dunno...i've had two kids and my figure is decent but definitely not smooth and flawless and i was expecting to be angled and posed to make me look my best. but, i think i was simply posed in all the standard pin up poses, rather than what was more flattering to my actual figure. bought the disc despite not being thrilled with all the pictures (extra $129), since i knew Groupon takes 1/2 the fee and the girls DO do a lot of work on you! i got the disc in the mail in less than a week, earlier than promised. i looked thru them at first scared...and wasn't too terribly happy. i gave myself an hour...and tried to not be so critical of myself...and went through all the pictures again, and discovered that i was ok with about 11 of the pictures. the rest i would delete and show no one. to share, there is exactly 3 i am willing to share. if i am grading on how i FELT thru the experience, it was definitely a 3 since i really didn't feel special, and there was a girl before me and another right after me while i was still there. i was under the impression that i would be alone with them so i would get undivided attention...but then again, the other clients were super nice and friendly... beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and perhaps i am too critical. i showed my hubby the disc and he couldn't stop snickering and laughing. not exactly the response i was hoping for...but then again, i wasn't all that thrilled with the results as well. all the VPL (visible panty lines) and my tummy killed a lot of the pictures when they would otherwise have been good. maybe it was on off day for them...i dunno. i just left feeling kinda let down and wishing it had gone better. i took pictures on my iphone in my car on my way out of there and i think i looked better in those than these pictures! (sigh) overall, it was a good experience in the sense that i kinda know what to expect now. i plan on doing these again, but a few months later after i DO lose that last 5pounds, after practicing all those poses at home! they aren't bad...but my personal experience was a 3, not 5 read more

every woman should do this for herself. grab your bestie and just GO FOR IT! I cannot, CANNOT rave about this company enough. So professional, so inviting and warm, and REALLY know their stuff. They know how to make every woman look and feel sexy! I told them I might be the world's most awkward person ever, and they made it work still! How, I do not know. The thing that sets ICONIC apart from other "boudoir" shoots is: 1) they do your hair and make up, so for sure you go in looking and feeling like a movie star. Tanya did my hair and make up, and seriously, it is the ONLY smoky eye ever done on me that I've LOVED. I kept taking pictures of myself so I could try to do it again on myself. 2) All woman staff, very safe environment. There is nothing skeezy about the shoots. There's a strict no-guys policy right off the bat, and it shows, cuz entire experience feels like a giant girls sleep over, with hair, make up, dress up, the works! 3) Awesome sets and clothing. you can bring your own stuff, but they totally have a ton of great costumes also! Ended up wearing one of my own and one of theirs, and it was great! *TIP* corset-type of stuff (holding you in) ends up looking great. 4) Carol (Stacy was out of town, so I did not get to meet her) was awesome. She REALLLY understands the female body, and how to make it look good. I've been to other photo shoots that were JUST AWFUL, cuz the photographer did not understand hwo to make each female body, no matter what size, look sexy. Here, Carol took her time to make sure we had our hands, necks, faces, everything right in place, and the results show! Seriously, it is worth the money!! They are amazing. Thank you Groupon for sending me to Iconic Pinups!! I have to agree with all of the other reviewers when I say that my experience with IP was excellent from start to finish. I was able to grab an appointment on the very last day of the Groupon special so I was very excited after reading all of the great reviews here on Yelp. I arrived and met Stacy who proceeded to quickly transform me into a flawless pinup beauty complete with lashes, red lips, and pin curls. I brought 1 outfit but ended up choosing 2 from the great selection of sexy but tasteful lingerie that Stacy and Carol offer. Carol arrived and showed me the very cute boudoir set where we would shoot. I wasn't at all self-conscious since Stacy and Carol put me at ease right away. I did the 30 minute shoot in both of the 2 outfits and Carol was super cool and funny. She helped me with my positioning and put me in some classic pinup girl poses (which aren't easy but look great!). When I was done Carol showed me all of my shots so I could choose the one that I wanted for my 8x10 print. Fast forward to today when I received the picture in the mail: OMG! It is gorgeous!!! Ladies you must do this.....soon. And don't do like I did and put it off in hopes of losing a few pounds or waiting for your skin to look better! This is something all of us can enjoy and there are all sizes of lingerie for everyone. Stacy makes you look so beautiful you have to get in front of the camera and vamp it up! I had been interested in doing a photo shoot for a while, but couldn't find one that met my needs. I found a Living Social Deal for Iconic Pinups and decided to buy it for my BF (and in the end, me). It is probably the best deal I have ever purchased from Living Social! If you know me, then you know that I am a total tomboy. I wear jeans and I don't know how to put make up on. So getting all dolled up was a total treat. This was my first photo shoot so I was really nervous, but I was immediately put at ease when the cutest Bischon-Poo greeted me at the door :) For me, it felt like I was just having fun and hanging out with friends. As soon as I entered Iconic Pinups magic castle, I felt like I was traveling back to a time when women were beautiful and appreciated in every shape and at every age. These two artists managed to bring out the essence of who I am, me, who's usually covered up by modernity and practicality. In their hands I turned into a romantic, glamorous and sexy babe. Those are the kind of pictures I can display in my living room because they are so tasteful and shot with a tiny bit of wistful irony, that even the most feminist Intellectual could not help but approve. After much hesitation, I booked myself a photo shoot this month and I'm so glad I did! I really can't express how much fun I had! Stacy did an amazing job with my makeup and I was so impressed with how she styled my usually unmanageable pixie cut. By the end of it I hardly recognized myself in the mirror. I write this review as a woman who only puts on make up on special occasions. I am a Photoshop artist by trade, and I take my hobby in photography quite seriously. I am also not the most shapely person. Therefore, I tend to be behind the camera far more often than in front of the camera. Iconic Pinups offered a Groupon in April 2011, so I thought, "Oh what the hell, I really could have more photos of myself, so let's see book these ladies and see what they can do." On a sunny afternoon, I arrived at the studio in Glassell Park. The view from the studio is very relaxing. The environment of the studio is inviting, warm, friendly, and would put any nervous girl at ease. Stacy, who has a background in fine arts, really paid attention to her subject's best features and did a great job in highlighting them. When Stacy was done, I was shocked. I didn't know I could look that good! Then it was Carol's turn to work her magic. Whatever setup she had in her studio, the lighting was very flattering. Carol was very encouraging and really knows how to direct her subject. About 10 minutes into the session, I went from feeling somewhat awkward to, "I can really do this pinup thing!" I had a chance to look through the photos from the camera after the session, and 95% of them look good enough to go straight to print. The photos (print and CD) came promptly and quickly after the session. I framed the 8x10 and gave it to my husband, and he was shocked in the best way possible. If there's another fitting occasion, I might just do this again. So ladies, please treat yourselves to this experience with Carol and Stacy. It was so hard to narrow it down and choose photos I liked... because I loved them all. Carol and Stacy did an amazing job! I can't believe that's me in the photos! I got married last year after moving cross country and starting grad school. Unlike most brides, I was more eager to get the wedding done and out of the way. Not to say I didn't want it to be a gorgeous day that I would never forget, but I had a lot on my plate. Carol was the photographer for my wedding and I recently went back to look at the photos again. When I went through the photos, I was just flooded with wonderful memories of the day and how beautiful and great it was. She captured all the joy and love of the ceremony and reception. Even though this was a cross-cultural event, she had no problem directing all the non-English speaking relatives and she really worked the room to capture the mood. Stacy and Carol are amazingly great! I had no idea what to expect going in but they walked me through every step of the way. I was transformed into a Pinup girl by Stacy and couldn't believe my eyes when I looked into the mirror! The poses are difficult but Carol guided me very well. Both of them are very friendly and really catered to what I wanted from the shoot. We went a little overtime on the shoot because I wanted the American Flag pose in addition to the 2 outfits, but Carol gladly accomodated and did it for me as a bonus. I had a Living Social (or Groupon, not sure) and agree that Carol and Stacey are the dynamic duo! They work really well together...make you feel like the movie star that we all are! A great experience after being in the "mommy zone" for the last 6 years. If the CD were a tad cheaper, I might buy it because there were a few photos that I might like to have in my files but at about $130, not sure that's in the budget. Nonetheless, I'm excited to get the 8 x 10 photo in the mail next week. My husband even asked when we get it! He is so excited too. They were doing $99 specials. While I am a pinup veteran, I decided to take my younger sister to her first pinup shoot as a birthday present. The shoots are done in private homes - they're fairly easy to get to on a weekend. We did the retro house. My sister had a complete transformation, "I can't believe it's me!" she said. Iconic Pinups also has a variety of wardrobe to choose from. I did bring my own wardrobe, but I really liked trying out some of the stuff they had in stock. Out of all the pinup shoots I've done in LA, Vegas, and New England, this is the best value. You get a million dollar transformation and Carol really helps you get out of our element to look your best. I went to the photo shoot as a surprise birthday gift for my boyfriend. Carol and Stacy were extremely professional and made me feel relaxed and comfortable, being this was my first photo shoot. I was the last appointment of the day, so we did a few extra shots and I purchased the DVD so I could have all the pictures. When I presented the photo and the DVD to my boyfriend, he fell silent. I can't say enough good things about my experience at Iconic Pinups! I must admit that I was quite nervous to be posing in front of a camera in lingerie, as this was quite out of my usual comfort zone! From the moment I got there these two made me feel SO comfortable. Stacy's old Hollywood glamour style hair and makeup TOTALLY transformed me into a bombshell from another era, and made me feel so beautiful. When I got in front of the camera the fun really began: Carol is a veteran photographer who specializes in this style of shooting. Best experience ever! This was the first time I've ever done a photo shoot with full on make up and wardrobe. Stacy did an amazing job with my hair and makeup--she is tremendous at what she does and how she transforms you. I did a maternity shoot with Carol and Stacy recently and had a blast. They are both great at what they do--so efficient, professional, fun and accommodating. They make you look and feel amazing, and it shows in the photos. Awesome super glam glam experience !!! I just had my first experience with Stacy and Carol this weekend and cannot wait to do another ! These ladies are both amazing. The atmosphere is so nice being in their own personal homes and a no men allowed set so you can just let it all hang out without feeling uncomfortable. For me that was key. Stacy did my make up and hair turning me into a flawless retro beauty.
