However, if a dispute takes too long, or the dishonest merchant draws out the process, both ICCU and Visa will deny the dispute, despite evidence, due to time. Both institutions will deny fault and blame the other to avoid accountability. This is a choice, not due to law. Mastercard does not do this. Other banks and credit unions don't all do this. ICCU - USELESS BANK ACCOUNT - Banks & Credit Unions Near Me - Boise, Idaho

I have a HELOC with ICCU, my payments are always the 25th of the month. Last month, I went into the branch and deposited a large check and paid it off completely 5 days before the due date... or so I thought. I told the teller to pay it off, I wanted a $0 balance, as in "I owe you nothing". I made sure my app showed $0 balance before leaving. I should also note that this took way longer than it should've. I guess I didn't realize how many hoops I'd have to jump through to deposit one check and pay my debts. Then ---Today I got a call from the branch expressing urgency which seemed strange. Called back (directly to the branch, not the number they called me from, to ensure this wasn't a scam) They said while my account has a $0 balance and it reflects this in my app... I have "past due interest for September" (even though I was in there to pay it off October 20th and "upcoming interest charge for October", due November 25th. I told them there must be some mistake because I paid this off completely last month and my app shows $0 balance with $0 due. Well, apparently it's not a mistake. Their app just doesn't reflect the interest only balance AT ALL so in their system, I'm late on September's interest payment and I owe for October interest as well, due in a week. My questions are -- 1. Why would this not have been brought up in the branch when I came in to pay the account balance off? They didn't even ask me to clarify and 2. Why doesn't this amount reflect in the app. Their support had no answers on either except to say that's just how the app is and the teller must've misunderstood because "paying the balance to zero dollars is not the same thing as paying it off" -- no joke, that's verbatim what the rep said!! Furthermore, the support rep told me they would wave the interest for the confusion, put me on hold and came back retracting that statement saying I needed to pay the interest charges to truly reflect $0.00. Completely ridiculous. Take notes, ICCU. This inconsistency on true balance is not acceptable and I guarantee I'm not the only one this issue will cause confusion for. If there's interest due, that should reflect on the account balance once it's due. Had we not addressed this within a week, they would've negatively reported on my credit for being "24 days past due on September's interest" when I literally no clue there was ANYTHING DUE AT ALL! Additionally, the support rep had issues submitting my payment successfully today and put me on hold. Then came back on confirming it was processed, except now that I've paid what I supposedly owe, my app is showing a credit of said payment amount in my savings account and no history reflecting this payment to my HELOC account at all so I had to call back and ask why and confirm the payment applied where it was supposed to. That new rep was super confused and put me on hold for another 15 mins to investigate --I'm now being told it's been addressed/corrected and applied to the right account and this was "just a fluke", but that's a big deal, putting my credit score at risk with potential reporting. This bank is just terrible NEVER EVEN LOOK IN THE DIRECTION OF THIS BANK. they cost me over $4,465 for NOTHING. I've been with them for four years now... always in good standing. A scammer got into my account and apparently deposited a check and immediately transferred it out. How did they not catch that this check was fraud?? Anyway, I spoke with the bank and they said they could handle it, and that I would only need to pay about $200 of it..of course I was not happy that I had to pay that money, but I paid it anyway to make sure I was in good standing. Six months later, yes, six months. I opened up my mobile banking and saw I was negative that $4465 amount...... so of course I called them to see what the issue was, and how in the world I could be negative in a savings account...said they now decided that I owed the full amount. One, why did they let a fraudulent check be put into my account, too when there's proof that I didn't do this that the login was from states away while I was here working, why am I deemed to be at fault for this? Why do I need to pay it back? After going back-and-forth with them, I decided to accept my fate and that I will owe this money. I set up a payment plan for $150 every two weeks, they called me two weeks later and said I need to increase the amount on my payments..... My husband and I had been with TOPCU credit union for over 40 years without any glitches here in Tucson, AZ. But since it was taken over by ICCU, a credit union from out of state, it has been one issue after another. My husband and had 2 separate accounts and they mixed them up. Than Cox cable kept sending me emails that the October bill had not been paid. I have always paid these bills through Bill Pay online. ICCU customer help kept telling me it was processed and paid. Finally a few days ago some tech told me it HAD NOT been paid. They are now checking where that payment went to. I finally paid the cox bill with a credit card a few days ago, Nov. 3rd. My husband has been telling me to change our 2 accounts to another local credit union. But I'm still waiting for ICCU to have all their glitches worked out. read more

I have been a customer with them for several years. I've never made a late payment on my auto loan. I recently stopped driving my vehicle and stored it in my garage. I dropped my coverage to collision only. ICCU charged me $4,000 for a "lapse in coverage" for a full year. I called my insurance company and got it changed it back to full coverage as soon as I realized what happened. (They had been sending me messages that my payment wasn't received and I thought it was a glitch as I could see my auto pay coming out so I didn't call them right away). ICCU removed part of the charge but would not remove the full charge so now I'm stuck paying a $1600 bill for force placed insurance when 1- I had insurance and 2- my Jeep was not being driven and nothing happened to it during that time. PLEASE CHOOSE ANYWHERE ELSE TO BANK. Their customer service and policies are horrendous and they don't give a damn about you as an individual. I tried to cash a check that is drawn on ICCU. They told me that as I did not have an account with them, they charged a fee to cash it. They wanted $20 fee to cash it. Then they tried to get me to open an account with them, saying that way I wouldn't encounter a fee, I already have a bank account and don't need another one. I am the executor of my brothers estate and have a separate bank account just for it. But this check included money refunded for a fee that I had paid out of my own pocket. And it would have been easier to cash check and take my money out of it and put the balance in the account. Now I have to deposit check and then withdraw my fee money back out of it. Makes more paperwork for me for estate records. My nephew had an account with them and was always having problems with his pay check and direct deposit. read more

I currently only owe $546. in credit card debt, have a car that is booked at $26,000 and paid off, and a home with over$100,000 in equity and in 11 years ICCU has not raised my credit limit 1 dime. I especially appreciate the fantastic service from Savannah M. at the Front St location ! Bravo Zulu to her! I will say my CD rates are a tad low compared to brokerage houses, but I like Local. Nice people but don't understand a couple things they've done. I don't see why they helped scammers but that's another story. Immediate problem is a teller in Caldwell ID decided to tell a friend who had driven me to bank all about my account including stating out loud how much my Social Security check is and why my account looks like it does and why I'm using a gift card. The woman I was with was my friend and neighbor, not my accountant. The teller showed her a printout of my account and the computer screen, too. My friend didn't understand so the teller went into detail. I kept saying things like I got it a d I know what's going on etc but Erica didn't take any hints and kept telling my friend everything. After we left, an hour total to find out reloadable gift card isn't reloadable after all, my friend had many questions. I don't appreciate having to answer anything about my private business to a friend. Thanks, Erica, for blabbing my private business to someone who had no right to know anything. My income amount is now public knowledge. Any problems like overdraft or payment amounts is now public. I didn't give any permission for Erica to do a tell-all or a show-and-tell. I opened a couple of accounts a year or so ago and have had nothing but trouble with there systems. The latest - I paid off a home equity line. The app showed zero so I assumed everything was fine. Yesterday I got a note saying that I was delinquent on one of my accounts. I took another look at the app and it show $0 for everything so I called customer service. The person that I spoke to couldn't see it either but found it after 15 minutes or so. I made arrangements to pay it off and went in yesterday and paid it off. Today I got a text saying I didn't pay it off but when I called they said it was paid off and to just disregard the text. What an awful customer experience. read more

I switched banks and went into ICCU because I have a auto loan. I gave them the information of my new bank account. Then I received notice of a past due payment and a late fee on my auto loan. I called ICCU and waited probably forty minutes before I got to talk to somebody. They looked it up and found that they made a mistake on their end. I ended up paying for two months on my auto loan. They said I would get reimbursed for the late fee since it was their fault, but I never received it. It's really frustrating to get charged a late fee because they made a mistake. Next time I go to buy a new truck, I will tell the dealership that I do not want the loan with ICCU. read more

Don't waste your time with them. My biggest issue with them is their cybersecurity, they are focused on the wrong things. You can change all your contact information, except your email address. For that, you have to conduct a video chat to get it changed, when I asked why, they said it was for cyber security reasons. This makes no sense, what does an email address have to do with cybersecurity? Since I refuse to do a video chat to change my email address, which they put in the system with the wrong information, I cannot get regular communication with them, such as statements. What's unfortunate is that they seem like they would be a good bank to work with, they just are focused on the wrong things. read more

I made payments on time through the portal for 2 years. I moved recently and must have forgotten my obligation. I first learned from TransUnion that I was late. My ICCU never contacted me to tell me I was late. When I called them, I learned that somehow the email address they had been using for 2 years changed internally without my doing. I have 2 years of emails at the correct one, the one I gave them. They were unwilling to help me recover my credit score from what was in part their fault for updating my contact information internally without my knowledge or permission. This cost me eight years of progress on my credit report. When a company will not fix what they have done due to unprofessionalism and internal mistakes, you should not trust them with anything. read more

I was a bit hesitant to try this credit union with the super low rating. I have to say I have been pleasantly surprised. Amazing and friendly service so far with the number of times I have had to come in. They even handled a signature guarantee for me seamlessly. I have had a great experience with both the retail side and business side of the operation. A few small cons would be it took a while to open my accounts, but I was in no hurry and enjoyed chatting with the rep. Also it seems like there is a $300 limit on the ATM with the debit card, but I am sure I can get that raised. You can take out $800 with other banks. Overall, it has been a great experience and this place is convenient and service focused. Not sure why all of the negative reviews, but it seems like they are taking their customer service seriously and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone who wants to get away from a big bank. read more

Paying ANYTHING over the phone is considered a CASH ADVANCE for which you will be charged a cash advance fee by your bank. When they run your transactions they will not tell you that they are going to run it as a cash advance because they do not care, it is not their problem. And because it is not their problem they will do nothing to help you reverse these fees either. Here I thought using a credit union would be better than a big bank but turns out they're all just big banks in the end. They don't give two craps. It's not their problem it's other guy. read more

Awful credit union to deal with, I have $10k in savings for approx 1 year deposited while opening account. I make 100k$ annually. Weekly deposits. I am not able to receive financing for auto, home or personal reasons. I have paid ALL derogatory marks on my account and have zero chargebacks or collections. I am told my income does not affect my eligibility for credit lines, the application uses a totally different credit model than the actual bank uses. This means your application is giving you a totally different credit score compared to if you call the bank. Their model for providing credit is completely different every time I call them, I paid off 5k in medical debt from 2019 which was totally unnecessary, reason being I was still not able to finance a single thing. Do not trust this bank or advice they give you, they will have you spend excessive amounts of money for no reason and no additional trust factor. Each representative I talk to had different information. Choose a more trusted bank and ask questions before you bank, this bank has zero relation between banker and bank, especially considering account balances held etc. I am pulling all of my savings and direct deposit to a different credit union that is more apt to help me achieve a healthy banking relationship. read more

Idaho Central Credit Union is definitely growing, and with that the care/relationships with customers is declining. I've done 5 car loans with them over the years being a member since somewhere around 04/05 and it all went pretty well. Every one of my car loans I have made extra payments on and paid them all off early. Recently I was told they've changed some of their requirements for vehicle loans as they've become larger and they would not finance one for me. My credit score isn't perfect but still at over 790 with a long history of good payments with them I expected more. ICCU is not the hometown friendly bank they used to be. They have become cold, simply just another "Business". I will pay off any debts I have with them and will never finance through them again. I've already found another bank which has offered me a better interest rate for my loan. read more

Like many other reviewers I have experienced being micromanaged and treated distrustfully. Whoever at ICCU decided to focus on risk management forgot the biggest risk is losing all your customers. Two day hold on all checks, then three days to wire one. ICCU does not notify you if they will lock your account, which is dangerous if you need money ie. for gas, for food, for your babies! I've experienced this twice! Recently, we needed to get water from the store. Mind you I had $255 reflecting on my checkings. My savings is on a zero balance and in good standing. The Card Control was previously blocked but we unblocked it prior to purchasing. It still would not authorize the card to purchase! We tried tap to pay, chip, swipe, and even had a cashier enter the card manually to factor out what might be the problem. Nothing worked! My account is fine so it doesn't make sense for them to "not authorize" my card. This bank does not care about the well-being of people. "For the people" they say. My son & I moved here over a year ago. I THANK GOD ABOVE have always kept my old checking account from back home open even though I did open one here as well. Initially I was not impressed as my back old account has much more as far as perks & things like that go. Anyway fast forward to now & we are having some mental health issues with my son as a result of the move, & some traumatic events, my elderly mother has to move against her will, & due to issues with my sons school enrollment paperwork apparently not being processed I can not start my new job as planned etc...we just have some issues right now that have happened all at once & I could absolutely benefit from a small personal loan. So I applied for a signature loan through ICCU on the app. I spoke with two different people on the phone regarding this application. I was told that I would first need to pay off two different lines of credit I had been making payments on so my credit score would improve the 20 or so points it needed to in order for me to qualify for the loan. I expressed to the man I spoke with the second time that I could pay them off but that I would probably need to then increase the loan amount as it would be almost $1,000 to pay them both off. To which he said it wouldn't be an issue at all to increase the amount as long as my score went up the few points. So I did as he advised me. The next day I called the loan department again & spoke with someone else who said that not only did I need the score to come up BUT I would need to maintain no open charge off accounts for the next 12MONTHS BEFORE I WOULD QUALIFY FOR THE LOAN!!! I AM STILL IN SHOCK!!! NOT ONLY WOULD THEY NOT GIVE ME THE LOAN...the bank I have used for over a year with no delinquency on my part who I deposit my pay checks & auto pay my bills etc...NOT ONLY WILL THEY NOT APPROVE ME FOR THE LOAN BUT YOUR EMPLOYEE ANSWERING CALLS INTO THE LOAN DEPARTMENT AND GIVING ADVISE TO LOYAL CREDIT UNION MEMBERS JUST COST ME MORE MONEY I ABSOLUTELY DID NOT NEED TO SPEND AND PUT ME THAT MUCH FURTHER BEHIND!!! and when I expressed this to the woman on the phone her only offer of a solution was to transfer me to a different department and see could my account be allowed TO BE OVER DRAWN??!! In just a few short years, ICCU has completely list its identity. It now has the feel of a US Bank or other massive institution. After being a member for several years, I was beyond disappointed to learn the best interest rate they would offer me on a vehicle loan was 10.4%. Westmark, who I've never done any business with, took my loan @7.2%. $25, OOO down, a $6,500 loan for one year, and a bank with no history with me beats my bank by 3 percentage points. As of today, I no longer bank with ICCU. Good riddance read more
