It is a great facility with an excellent location and very accommodating staff. I've been involved in hosting two find raisers here for a charter school and a community radio station. I also attended a holiday work party. As a host, I had everything I needed to pack the house for a dinner in one case and a speech by a celebrity news anchor in the other. As a guest I found the space a little too bright for a festive gathering. I think the organizers just didn't know how to set up the lighting correctly because at the other events we took advantage of the accent lighting to highlight a speaker and information/book signing tables. Bar services are available through the sister company, the Modern Hotel. I wish the kitchen were bigger because I think it was a little hard for our caterer to plate up in the little space they have. The managers are supper helpful and flexible. And believe me, this is key when you are dealing with a chaotic events planning committee or a picky mother-in-law when you are planning your event or wedding reception!

I went from having a completely normal happy two year old that was being babysat by my mother while my husband and I moved across the country, to listening to him struggling to even get a breath in and somehow having a congenital heart defect whilst we're now rushing as fast as we can to Seattle to fly BACK to the east coast and pray that my son stays alive within that timeframe. Of course a mother is going to be hysterical when there is a situation like that. AND, my husband, who booked the room, specified we needed to cancel due to a MEDICAL EMERGENCY. That was the very first sentence he said on that phone call. My recommendation- have more compassion and verify the severity of the situation with your receptionist before demanding respect from someone who trusted your business enough to spend over $300 on a room that we would be spending less than 12 hours in.

They then proceeded to come up to me (bride), during our grand entrance (not to my coordinator, sister, or parents) and asked me what I wanted to do about this situation. It was only 4:30 by this time, and wedding went until 10pm. Their option was to only serve IPAs the rest of the night, which would have made guest way too drunk too early. So I insisted they go find another keg of something light. They came back with ONE keg of corona, and we ran out again around 8:30. Just super unprepared, and not good to work with. No apologies were given, and they lied about being prepped with extra alcohol. I would not recommend.

The land is uniquely private. The entrance so obscure that you will drive by and miss it except for a Welcome sign on wedding days. This is a good thing to keep your event private and to maximize the space. Once you enter from the street the wedding names will be on a sign with the cottage in the background. You will head down a one car driveway to the back and park in a gravel parking lot. The back lawn is a front to a creek and lots of trees. Wedding ceremonies often take place here. When you are on the grounds you cannot see the surrounding farm, the vegetable market or anything else in most places. Moving toward the cottage is the pot o potty for guests & staff (construction style!!!) , the parking lot and then large tent. Walk through another area of grass. Next is another smaller tent outside the cottage and a couple of grass lawns. Again, tents may vary due to time of year etc. They usual house the DJ and dance floor for your event or it could house the tables and chairs and dance floor. The trees and shrubbery, again, are so pretty. The little pond is also good looking. Weddings are so different depending especially on your wedding coordinator and also the vendors you hire. Pay special attention to where the sun is depending on your time of day & time of year and plan the set up of chairs, tables, eating areas not to mention the flowers accordingly.The ceremony and eating is often set up in the sun so be aware depending on the time of year. Make sure to remember to think of your guests and warn them of the need to wear flat shoes or chunk heels or wedges to traverse the grounds parking lot and porta potty. Let them know if you will let them in the cottage to use the restroom or to get out of the sun or if it is off limits. Again, the wedding coordinator may make this decision but be aware it alters the guest experience. Their website shows a plethora of photos of the grounds so check it out for an idea of offerings and other events. But they don't do it justice. It is more beautiful in person. The look of the event and pictures are dependent on what you choose catering wise, coordinator wise, clothing wise and whom your vendor is for supplies. It can be as informal or formal as you wish. The sky is the limit. The Cottage at Riverbend gets 5 stars for just the gorgeous, serene, enchanting outdoor space that it is to hold your wedding or event. There are plenty of areas for guests and wedding party to roam and lots of greenery for pictures to be taken with. Lots of memories to be made here
