Hockey is a fun sport and the Steelheads can be fun if you are patient. First the positives.... 1. The arena for a minor league area is top notch....modern and centrally located among restaurants downtown with plenty of parking. 2. The hockey is exciting, lots of scoring and action. 3. Prices are very reasonable. Now the down side ..... 1. Among all the professional sports teams I've viewed the Steelheads are the worst communicators ever! Billboards all over town advertising promotions no longer available, very few promotional days/deals. 2. When you call either the Steelheads no one answers the phone, ditto with the arena. Use the web site you say but...... 3. Maybe the most un-navigable web site ever. Not very clear, slow with a lot of pages that are empty. 4. Ways to purchase tickets. You can't get them in person, only on the net. The problem is that the process is very slow, not very clear and for all that aggravation they charge you a service fee to send the tickets to me electronically......really? In short the Steelheads are not very customer friendly. The games are reasonably priced but be prepared to do a lot of work. read more

Terrific entertainment value in downtown Boise at the Century Link Arena, efficient, organized, fun, overall a really impressive sporting experience. Located in The Grove complex, just a short walk from all the great things DoBo has to offer, the Steelheads do a superb job to make this a positive visit. Lots of nearby paid parking, easy trek inside the arena, and a truly fun atmosphere whether you're a hockey fan or not. Well, I am a big hockey fan, and I loved it. Quality ECHL action, an entertaining high level of play, lots of food and concession options on the main concourse that loops the arena. Some chippy play and three skirmishes made it even more enjoyable. There isn't a bad seat in the house, and the ticket prices are very fair. Staff all over the place to answer your questions. Appreciated the community-related raffles and info. Blue the Mascot is fun to watch. A full house was comprised of families, business people, dates, and friends just there to enjoy the game. Video boards, good music, free roster information available. Like their garb on sale, and can even buy a Harmon Killebrew baseball card! I wish the main scoreboard used a more distinctive color for the game clock, tough to read that hue of green on a black board with smaller display. I'd definitely return, a fun visit. read more

Note: this is a review for the Steelheads experience only, not Century Link Arena (see separate page/review for that). I attended a couple Steelheads games the last time I lived in Boise, and so far this time around I've been here twice as well. It's something different to do that gets you out of the house, helps you support a local team, and won't kill your budget. The games are attended by everyone from young families to singles in their thirties to the more mature crowd, and all seem to have a good time. The priciest seat you can buy is $35, which means even for glass seats it won't break the bank. And if you're feeling thrifty and go the route of a cheaper ticket, know there isn't a bad seat in the house. Wednesday night is $2 beer night, though unfortunately this does not include the better craft options. But hey, who's complaining. And Friday's often have specials like soda and hotdogs included with price of admission, as well as 4 tickets for $46 deals, saving you over $25. Definitely look into package deals and special promotions if you're bringing a group. Fun story: I was recently flying from Denver to Boise over Thanksgiving. After I was settled in my seat, I looked up to find a large group of young men in suits boarding the plane. My first guess was that they were affiliated with BSU somehow. However as we were approaching landing, the kid across the aisle from me struck up a conversation with his neighbor. It turns out it was the Steelheads returning from a game in South Dakota! Pretty cool. As was the welcoming committee on other side of security at airport ha. Overall, attending a Steelheads game is a fun night out that is both affordable and entertaining. Been about 2 seasons since I've been to a game in Boise, but I remember when they came into the WCHL with the Tacoma Sabercats about going to Bank of America Arena for games there (Which has changed to CenturyLink Arena) I really like the layout of the Arena, its like a U shape and not a bad seat in the house, you can see the action as your getting your food and drinks. If you go to a game here, I HIGHLY suggest going to Chicago's after the game, I'm sure they still do it, but I do remember that players from both sides come here after the game, and when I asked the waiter about it, she said they never had any problems with players from either side- even with the Steelheads arch rivals Its fun coming to games here, and I would highly recommend it if your in Boise and its a game night. read more

So my experience with this ,shall we say opposite of sophisticated establishment is interesting because in the last year I attended a few games and a concert and couldn't help but notice how shitty some of the customer service is and how they were usually out of the most basic things. I also noticed how hostile the atmosphere seemed to be ..i.e. drunken chubby men who yell at their wife's in public.if you want to feel out of place or uncomfortable this just might be the place for you. read more
