I actually enjoy this joint but after that last visit, I honestly wouldn't have been sad if we didn't come back. My son wanted to celebrate his birthday here. How do you say no to that? So, on Sunday we made our way in for an dinner to celebrate my son's 27th birthday. After a majority of our party showed up, we got sat. Maura took care of us today. She super sweet! I ran into her in the ladies room and she was nice in there too. I knew we were going to be in good hands after my encounter with her. My son went to the wrong restaurant even though he picked this place. So while we were waiting him to get here, we got some appetizers started. My husband got a handful of free appetizer cards given to him at his work. So an onion blossom and some potato skins were ordered. Bruhhhh, it was all so good! And on top of the appetizers we had rolls with that famous butter to keep us happy. I ate my weight in rolls, butter and potatoes. I was content! We finally got dinner ordered after my son arrived. We were all ready! I got the ribeye for dinner, smothered with onions and mushrooms of course. And two sides of the mixed veggies. I asked for my ribeye too be will done and the grill master delivered! The char was perfect! The onions and mushrooms were a nice addition to it. My broccoli and carrots were really good!! I polished a good portion of my dinner. I finished the rest the following night. We ended dinner with my son riding the wooden horse. He was sung to which made my mom heart so happy. Maura did a fantastic job taking care of us. We had such a great time! Maura was sweet, attentive and delivered a great service. Completely black and white between our last visit and current. I look forward to coming back soon. I miss living around the corner like I used to. So it's a treat to have a steak here.

Despite being a Tuesday, the place got busy, very quickly. The ambiance is casual steakhouse, with wood tables and booths. It is a good sized restaurant. We were part of the first group to arrive, but it still took about 5 minutes to be seated. They tried to put us at a table for two, but my wife very nicely asked if we could move to a bigger table, and the hostess was nice enough to allow it. I could see why TR is popular: you can get a steak at a very reasonable price. They have a M-TH special up until 5 pm. $12 for one of the listed entrees, including the two sides. I had already looked at the menu before we came and my choice was on the list: a 6-oz sirloin steak. My wife got the 12-oz ribeye, still only $24. We both got salads and I got the green beans. We both got sauteed mushrooms on top of our meat and the three shrimp added to our entree. You pay $4 for the shrimp; I was surprised to learn that they charge $2.29 for the sauteed mushrooms. I must have missed that. Still, if I had to do it over, I'd still get the mushrooms. They were great. The meat was grilled perfectly, the salads had croutons, cheese, a hard boiled egg, and tomatoes. Yummy. The green beans had a nice flavor, with bacon bits added to them, but they were mushy and in a juice that wasn't really to my liking. Of course, the complimentary buns and honey butter are to die for. Our server was Brooklyn. She was very nice and attentive, frequently asking us if we needed anything else. Our water glasses were not refilled. We did feel a light pressure to not linger at the table. Nothing overt, just subtle. Maybe I imagined it. Overall, the service was great. All in all, a very nice experience. We will be back.

The refrigerators are full of beef, chicken, lamb, and more. They also sell yummy scones and jams. The gift shop is full of lots of cute kitchen and home decor. I can't wait to return!

Natural Grocers was the OG. Before Whole Foods, Sprouts, and before the Boise Cooperative, it was Natural Grocers. It's a great story, look it up and read about Margaret and Phillip Islely, their $200 bucks, and their dream. I've visited several times, and while it may still have a following, it gets lost in the ever-expanding sections of your traditional grocers. It wasn't long ago, that you would NOT see vegan cheese in the cheese aisle, or plant-based meats in the meat section, but now they are there, whether it's something you eat or not. The vegetable and fruit section is smaller than the Co-Op at the Village but sometimes it's good to have a second chance. The vitamin section as well as the community hang-out section to the right when you walk in should not be missed. One thing that often gets missed is that some shoppers see these grocers as vegan or vegetarian. While it's true that they stock vegan and vegetarian items, they also have organic meats and meat products. If you're looking for organic, grass-fed meats and such, check out Natural Grocers TIP1: Check out their website as it has a bountiful amount of information about Sustainability, Deals, Recipes, Events, and more. Eating St. John's beef for the first time is akin to trying a homegrown tomato after a lifetime of…read moreonly knowing the store-bought anemic varieties.  Or, eating a dark orange egg yolk from pastured chickens, never knowing they could be anything other than pale yellow.   The reason my first time trying the beef from St. John's was all the more wonderful and surprising was because I had already been eating grass-fed beef for over a decade.  But this beef is in a completely different category in my mind.  Even my youngest children can tell the difference and can often be heard commenting, "St. John's beef is the best!"  "Is this St John's? Vegetables and local meats. We joined their membership a year before moving here...that's how much I liked the store. Twice a month great sale prices on local. Not gluten free bread, and not frozen bread. The staff was very sweet and tried to be helpful but they simply didn't have anything that would work when you're traveling through town and don't have a toaster or oven in your camper van and you're wanting to eat now. The fun thing about the place for me was that it smelled like the all natural grocery store I used to frequent in college - so it blasted me back to fun times with my dear friend Kate!
