Despite being a Tuesday, the place got busy, very quickly. The ambiance is casual steakhouse, with wood tables and booths. It is a good sized restaurant. We were part of the first group to arrive, but it still took about 5 minutes to be seated. They tried to put us at a table for two, but my wife very nicely asked if we could move to a bigger table, and the hostess was nice enough to allow it. I could see why TR is popular: you can get a steak at a very reasonable price. They have a M-TH special up until 5 pm. $12 for one of the listed entrees, including the two sides. I had already looked at the menu before we came and my choice was on the list: a 6-oz sirloin steak. My wife got the 12-oz ribeye, still only $24. We both got salads and I got the green beans. We both got sauteed mushrooms on top of our meat and the three shrimp added to our entree. You pay $4 for the shrimp; I was surprised to learn that they charge $2.29 for the sauteed mushrooms. I must have missed that. Still, if I had to do it over, I'd still get the mushrooms. They were great. The meat was grilled perfectly, the salads had croutons, cheese, a hard boiled egg, and tomatoes. Yummy. The green beans had a nice flavor, with bacon bits added to them, but they were mushy and in a juice that wasn't really to my liking. Of course, the complimentary buns and honey butter are to die for. Our server was Brooklyn. She was very nice and attentive, frequently asking us if we needed anything else. Our water glasses were not refilled. We did feel a light pressure to not linger at the table. Nothing overt, just subtle. Maybe I imagined it. Overall, the service was great. All in all, a very nice experience. We will be back.

Ursula from the little mermaid was the "neighboring waitress", who by the way has the personally of a sock drawer, and was all inconvenienced that the iPads got switched around and I paid for the wrong meal. I mean, it's literally your job to bring me the food and then bring me the check. And now it's a complete meltdown - almost as if i asked her to tear down the restaurant and rebuilt it while I watched. Competed joke. Shelia, or Shayla or something like that was her name. I didn't love her. But I love the rolls. So soft. So buttery. So amazing. Ursula was not that. If we get her as a waitress, I will absolutely ask for another or to be moved, or maybe just get it to go. It's literally not worth watching her have a complete meltdown because the technology didn't work and she has to actually do her job.... Maybe work at a gas station, or Walmart? Or Dairy Queen. The expectations are much lower there.

Natural Grocers was the OG. Before Whole Foods, Sprouts, and before the Boise Cooperative, it was Natural Grocers. It's a great story, look it up and read about Margaret and Phillip Islely, their $200 bucks, and their dream. I've visited several times, and while it may still have a following, it gets lost in the ever-expanding sections of your traditional grocers. It wasn't long ago, that you would NOT see vegan cheese in the cheese aisle, or plant-based meats in the meat section, but now they are there, whether it's something you eat or not. The vegetable and fruit section is smaller than the Co-Op at the Village but sometimes it's good to have a second chance. The vitamin section as well as the community hang-out section to the right when you walk in should not be missed. One thing that often gets missed is that some shoppers see these grocers as vegan or vegetarian. While it's true that they stock vegan and vegetarian items, they also have organic meats and meat products. Eating St. John's beef for the first time is akin to trying a homegrown tomato after a lifetime of…read moreonly knowing the store-bought anemic varieties.  Or, eating a dark orange egg yolk from pastured chickens, never knowing they could be anything other than pale yellow.   The reason my first time trying the beef from St. John's was all the more wonderful and surprising was because I had already been eating grass-fed beef for over a decade.  But this beef is in a completely different category in my mind.  Even my youngest children can tell the difference and can often be heard commenting, "St. John's beef is the best!"  "Is this St John's? Vegetables and local meats. We joined their membership a year before moving here...that's how much I liked the store. Twice a month great sale prices on local. Not gluten free bread, and not frozen bread. The staff was very sweet and tried to be helpful but they simply didn't have anything that would work when you're traveling through town and don't have a toaster or oven in your camper van and you're wanting to eat now. The fun thing about the place for me was that it smelled like the all natural grocery store I used to frequent in college - so it blasted me back to fun times with my dear friend Kate!
