As a theater, it offers a lot for those that are on a budget. On the other hand, I have looked online at their schedule and driven 40 miles one way to see a movie, and when I got there, it was not airing at the times advertised. Not a fancy theater but great service by young "adults" aka teenagers that was a pleasant surprise. Where else can you get caramel corn and or buttered popcorn with your ticket? They've opened up and asking people to social distance..so it's nice to be back at the theater! I don't really think they're sanitizing in between movies but not sure (there was popcorn on the floor still etc) but for the price and carmel corn and young, fun people at the counter...well worth it! read more

Pleasantly surprised by the low cost of this comfortable cinema! While visiting Boise, and looking for a movie to watch, we found this location, nestled unobtrusively in a shopping center. Parking was plentiful, popcorn was fresh, and bottles of water didn't break the bank! The movies may be a little bit older (we watched the recent Mission Impossible), and the seats are old school (no recliners), but for $3 a ticket - it was well worth it!! read more

Great theater for seeing movies that aren't first run. This sits in the shopping center by the freeway by Cole and Overland. Seats have all been redone over the years, it is an old style theater with not a very sloped floor but for the price it's amazing. Tickets are three dollars or five dollars including two food coins! Went and saw Ford versus Ferrari tonight we were the only people in this huge theater. We sat in about the fourth from the front row which was perfect for these comfortable reclining seats. The sound system is actually amazing with lots of bass, very surprised. We will be back here quite often I think. read more

This was our first love when my husband and I moved to Boise. What should bored college students do on a Tuesday night while avoiding homework? Go see a .50 cent movie of course!!!! Over the years they have slowly upgraded seats, bathrooms, floors, etc. It is totally different from when we started going. They did a wonderful job with the renovation. You really can't beat the price either. For $5 you get a movie, and two food items (drink, popcorn, or candy)! That means that our family of four can attend a movie and get snacks for $20! If we were to go to a movie and get snacks at Edwards or Village we would spend around $60-$80. They run a special on Tuesday's where admission to the movie is only $1 (just .50 cents more than when we were college students). Wait a couple months to see a movie, and check out OPC! You won't be disappointed. read more

The theater is relatively cheap. Unfortunately, their inexpensive ticket prices show through. If you want a good, inexpensive movie, go to the Reel Theater down the road. Or take advantage of any of any of the "Five dollar Tuesday" events at most of the local major theaters. Personally, I like The Village Cinema, but that's partly because they serve you food if you are in the VIP section, and the seats are VERY comfy! I am NOT affiliated with any theater. If you want to watch movie for a buck, come here on Tuesdays. Of course their movies are not super new, like a month or 2 months late but if you and your kids need something fun to do for $1 each, then this should be on your list. The screen is smaller compared to the ones in Edwards but I mean, you get what you paid for right? Seats are not placed steeper too so if the person in front of you is tall then, it's head is on the way. Usually though when we come watch, crowd is not so bad so you have a lot of seat choices. Place sometimes is trashed, though they have regular people that clean and maintain after but it seems dirty to me, might be the smell or maybe because place looks old. It think it's awesome if they going to update and upgrade OPC to attract more customers. We're still gonna come back though. read more

From the outside it can seem a little sketchy. The movie times are written on a whiteboard. However, totally recommend. $10 for 2 movie tickets, 2 popcorns & 2 sodas. They are definitely better if your looking for a cheaper place to see a movie but service is never a top priority with them. I've went in and tried to use a movie pass and told sorry they can't accept one tonight but would happily charge us full price, doesn't exactly even try to compare for their issue not mine, then went up for the free refill halfway through the movie and got chewed out for asking for a refill on the popcorn and soda then went up at the end and they refused to fill them again since I made the choice not to climb over other customers to refill my $3 soda untill the movie was over Usually it could use some cleaning but like I said compared to the rest of your looking for a descent movie that doesn't cost an arm and a leg this might be the place read more

If wanted, you are able to combine them and get 1 big snack such as nachos. The caramel corn is good (1 ticket)!!! I usually also get a regular candy bar as well (1 ticket). The theater itself is clean. It doesn't have all the modern amenities of the newer theaters, but there is a place for you to sit, a cup holder for your drink, and the movie shows nice and clear. This theater totally feels like a time warp. Every time I have gone in it feels like I am going back in time when movie prices were reasonable and service actually existed. It has to be the dated design and the older movie posters hung on the walls. On a more serious note, this theater earns my respect for one true story that happened. I was out on a date and somehow my cell phone disconnected from my belted holster and fell on a downtown sidewalk. We came to the theater from downtown totally unaware that my phone was missing. In fact it was not until AFTER we purchased the tickets that I realized this. Fearing that someone would pick it up and run out the minutes to call their amigos in some foreign land, I opted to miss the movie to retrieve it. Expecting most theater personnel to wave it off as "too bad", this was different. Not only did the clerk (who was the original owner) give me a refund, he even wished us well in finding it. We did end up finding it laying on a curb not far from where we parked. For this experience alone, I will gladly patronize this theater and humbly thank the staff for providing such quality customer service. read more

I luckily had the chance to see movies here back when it charged regular admission prices for new movies. But these days it is even better when you get a drink, popcorn, and a movies for three bucks. They had replaced the creaky seats the last time I went a couple years ago. I am going back to see "Inglorious Basterds" this weekend. The bathrooms are cool and dated, along with the long aisles to find a seat. I used to get really creeped out using their bathrooms for some reason -- looks like something out of a horror movie. They also do caramel popcorn that doesn't taste too good -- more like a fine dusting of caramel on popcorn, but just the fact that they offer caramel popcorn in their food deals is awesome. I hope our movie is in the huge theater. It is one of the last truly dated theaters in the area besides the Egyptian, and I love it. Long live Overland Park Cinemas! read more

Its all about the "food ticket" Movie and two items of food for about $4 and the place is a kick in the pants. They kept everything rustic and in good condition on the interior which makes it warm and homey. There is another inexpensive theater on something like 4500 Overland but it lacks the character and food ticket. Only drawback about this theater is that it plays tons of family friendly movies so lots of kids running around yelling and being kids. read more

My husband and I had dates at this theater, back when the owners had a rinky dinky theater out on Lake Hazel by the bowling alley. They've come a long way. :) Now, we take our family to OPC often. It is one of the few dollar theaters in town, and they've taken pains to re-invest in the place, with new seating and carpeting. There are regular tickets for a dollar or two, and food tickets for 3 or 4, I think. A food ticket allows you a treat and a drink, or two treats. For $16, our family of 4 can have a lovely evening complete with treats. The people are very nice, and they seem genuinely out to create a nice, wholesome family destination, rather than being your typical money-grubbing sort of a business. I whole-heartedly respect them, and the way they run OPC. I am grateful to have them here. read more

There is another 'bargain theater' in my neighborhood that we usually frequent. However we were going with friends who chose this location, and I'm very glad they did! Tucked in the back of a strip mall on Overland, the theater presents on the exterior as it does on the interior- as a well kept, clean building. Initially, there was a bit of a pause at the fact that they do not take 'plastic' for payment.. but there is an ATM on site AND they take checks (with the proper ID of course!). ADDED value is this.. for FIVE DOLLARS you not only get admission to a film but a token that can be spent on food or drink! This part, I found particularly amazing. Not just some old popcorn shoveled into a bag and a dinky drink either.. but you get a choice- from popcorn or caramel corn (made with a dry flavoring that is NOT gooey and tastes great)- candy, soda, water, energy drinks, - even nachos. Now, there are limits to what your token will buy, but you can always chip in another buck or so for 'upgrades'. My husband opted not to use his token, so for our $10 we had our movie (Avengers: Age of Ultron), a large caramel corn, a bottle of water and a Reese's peanut butter cup.. GOOD LUCK getting all of that for $10 from a 'mainline' theater or even the OTHER bargain theater in town. At Overland Park Cinemas, another great change from the usual bargain theater.. no sticky floors, no broken seats (though they are a tad tired and not the most comfy.. next time we'll take a pillow for my honey to sit his bony behind on)- no old cigarette smells or shabby wall hangings. The bathrooms are clean and well ventilated too!. My husband and me are movie people, we used to spend lots of time in theaters. With the rise in prices though (and the advances in technology for home entertainment) we have gone back to visiting the theater being a rare treat rather than the norm. Having experienced Overland Park Cinemas though, I think we may put seeing a movie at the theater back in the list of options for date night. We usually enjoy this theater, but the last few times we've been we've had terrible service. The food/ticket deal they have is wonderful. $5 gets you a ticket and 2 regular food items. Kids under 3 are free. Tonight my husband and I took our 2 year old to see Coco and the man who gave us our tickets charged us $16 without asking us how old our son is. When my husband realized and asked about the extra charge, the guy pulled $2 out of the register and shoved it at my husband without saying anything. Even when we said "thank you" there was no response. As someone who is also in the customer service industry, I was shocked at how rude this man was to patrons. I used to be surprised that this theater was empty all the time, but now we understand why. read more

$4 for a movie, drink, and popcorn! Sold!!! Get the carmel corn (might be kettel corn not sure what they call it) it's good and something different. The theater is never crowded and clean for the age. Good way to kill a Sunday afternoon when it's raining out. read more

I see more movies at the OPC than anywhere else. Not that I love the seating... it is pretty uncomfortable compared to the Regal thrones. However, movies suck these days, to it is good to pay less for two people's tickets and food than it costs for just one person's ticket at Regal. For the price you are paying this is a fair establishment. It is definitely an older theater and doesn't have the wow factor of some of the new multiplexes. They were remodeling at the time so there were some weird smells in the air. I found many seat cushions to be stained in the auditorium I was in as well. At it's peak this was probably a really cool theater. Sadly though with the amount of competition now in the Treasure Valley it has really taken a toll on this theater. The auditoriums are long and narrow and there is a small screen at the end. This theater would be good for large families because it's only $3.00 a person plus they have a special food or drink combo where you just add $2.00. If you are a major movie goer this probably isn't the place for you. read more

I've been a patron of the OPC for many years. They offer an inexpensive theater experience--with popcorn, if you buy a food ticket--in a pleasant environment. They prioritize family-friendly movies, but always have some showings that are of interest to adults. On a recent visit, I left my cell phone under my seat. The staff was very helpful, and I was reunited with my phone, much to my relief. I'll definitely enjoy another movie soon at the OPC. read more

This place is huge, and what's even better EMPTY. We went at 10:30 on a Saturday. Granted I'm from LA, so I was ecstatic not to pay $12 for a movie. But overall it's very clean, there seems to be plenty of room, and a good variety of screens. One thing I thought was a nice touch is there is an inside and an INSIDE. The ticket booth gathering/waiting area is all inside, so you shouldn't get too chilly in the Boise night air. read more
