Nice store & setup but employees are awful. They're blatantly rude to customers, they talk about their personal lives loudly to each other then asked a non-involved customer if they're crazy. Staff is very unprofessional. The prices are very high & an employee admitted to matching selling prices online & argued with a customer that they couldn't possibly lower a price since There's obvious big profit to be made even though they get everything for free.... Replace the rude staff & have reasonable prices vs the outrageous ones & this can be a great store! read more

Went by the Youth Ranch located on Franklin Rd last Sunday at 1155am. Rang the buzzer and a woman opened the door and abruptly told me they don't open for another 5 mins and I need to wait until then in order to drop off 5 bags of clothing. After clearly getting the message they don't need donations anymore, I took all the clothing to the Salvation Army, who was more than happy to have it. Ill never take anything to the Youth Ranch again. read more

Selection is hit or miss. Typically I find more in their home section than clothing, but that's just me personally. Somewhat small of a building, so they're not able to keep too much in stock. Prices are similar to most thrifts nowadays- higher than before, unfortunately Service is fine, never had to interact with anyone unless I'm paying, which I honestly appreciate. I do enjoy supporting this shop though because of the type of help they do in the community! read more

Some thrifties have only one section that rocks the store. I must say, this one has many sections that rock the store. The furniture section, clothing, household, books, shoes, and let's not forget, the BSU Bronco section, all have shelves breaming with second hand goodies. Walked by 3 sales people into dressing room. Was trying clothes on in fitting room at 7:28 and was being bad mouthed about by the staff openly. Then they were saying to themselves out loud rudely "the dressing rooms were closed at 7:30 and that they should put sighns out for stupid people, especially in spanish because people can't read. And block them in with carts if they are trying on clothes after 7:30." There were no signs posted and nobody said anything to me when I walked in. I understand if fitting rooms have to close but to tell people and not talk rudely about them. Would not recomend shopping at this store unless you would like to be publically degraded by the staff at a thrift store. read more

Went to the Youth Ranch on Orchard St. to donate today (Saturday, Jan 6, 2023) and there was a line of cars waiting to donate. While I was waiting, more cars piled up behind me. I sat in line for 20 minutes watching the attendants move like slugs, with no sense of urgency. And then after each donation, the attendants were shuffling things around and organizing in the warehouse, while they had more cars piling up. It would be one thing if they were hustling and getting things unloaded quickly, but their snail-like urgency coupled with the lack of awareness of the volume of people waiting while they re-organized their warehouse, was very rude and irritating. While this might be the Youth Ranch's policy on how attendants unload, they should really re-think this. A sense of urgency should be first and foremost and they should focus on keeping the traffic flowing through and most importantly, wait till later to shuffle and re-organize the warehouse. And the older, bald attendant should maybe re-think saying angry things to people who are donating and got trapped waiting in line. I donate to the Youth Ranch all the time, but if this keeps happening, I'll donate to another thrift store. read more

It is a great little boutique. It is just a great place to browse through and look for a hidden treasure or two The staff is helpful and informative. They made every effort to ensure that we were satisfied. I prefer to browse the used books and my son prefers to browse the toys. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!! The manager or whoever she was, cussed and yelled at us because we were charged twice for an item. She blatantly yelled at the other workers and degraded them right in front of us. It was terrible to watch. I had to bite my tongue . She threw our receipt and walked away talking under her breath. Absolutely terrible , i feel sorry for the other workers and anyone that has to deal with her. read more

First of all let me say, I love the Idaho Youth Ranch. For obvious reasons of course, because it's a good cause; not to mention I love the staff at the Orchard location. They are all so very sweet and I always have a fun time with the ladies there. Terry is my favorite. That being said, here's my experience at the Chinden location. On my never-ending quest for a halloween costume this year, I found myself away from Terry, but in the still-trusted hands of IYR and to say the least it was memorable. After looking around for a couple minutes, a man in a red Raggedy Andy wig, equipped with a three-headed tiger shirt approached us and struck up a conversation. Now, I'm not one to judge anyone, but I stood there thinking this was surely another friendly IYR staff member wearing a Halloween costume a tad bit early... so I let him ramble. What occurred next was something out of the twighlight zone. It was the strangest, LOUDEST conversation I have ever had, and I've had a few. Things went downhill fast, leaving me speechless. After about 10 minutes of complete craziness, I noticed the ladies behind the counter (who actually worked there), were as perplexed as I was. An ah-ha moment...I had fallen prey to a random shopper. It only makes sense that half way through this endeavor I was asking myself 'hey buddy do you even work here?'. Now I know some things are out of our control, however I would have liked a little heads up somehow, from somebody. Maybe a little action of arms flailing in the air, a red flag, whatever taught in an emergency safety manual. This time however I was thrown to the wolves.. or should I say three-headed tiger. Once again I stopped by the Five Mile and Orderland store and was told I could not purchase an item in the window display. Not sure why this store has a different policy than the others. I have tried three different times to purchase an item in the display window and have been told the item is not for sale until after the display is changed. If it is in the window I would think it should be for sale. The most current item I wanted will not be available until "sometime in May" I can sign up on a list if I want it. I was hoping to get it in time for my granddaughter's birthday in March. I have purchased display items at most of the other Youth Ranches and never run into this problem before. read more

Went to buy an office chair. All chairs are filthy. Only comfortable chair was broken. Saw some cool stuff but they were broken, or missing key components such as specialized power cords. Clothes are nice. Other than that it was a disaster. Idaho youth ranch used to be awesome, but went way down hill. Waste of time and money read more

Tons of stuff. The inventory turns over quite often. Prices are dirt cheap often below a dollar. Problem is finding exactly what you want since the invenventory is so sporadic. read more

I can't speak to ease of donating, etc, because I haven't done so at this location, but wow - I love the Orchard IYR store so much! They have an awesome selection of houseware, craft, toy, and office items. I was able to buy well over half of my BSU semester supplies here - binders, paper, a hole punch, etc. Obviously, selections at thrift stores change regularly, but I've been in here three times in the span of a month and found exciting new things each time. I like organizing and kitschy decor, and I haven't been let down with useful items in both categories on my visits here. My partner is a visual artist who gives dolls makeovers and paints awesome pieces, and she was able to find some helpful items, too. ...I can't speak to clothing because I haven't looked, but the clothing area definitely looks like it has a good stock from afar. The store is huge compared to the other IYRs I've been in. The staff are friendly, and the store is always neat and organized insofar as thrift stores go. (The decor and kitchen sections are even color-coded!) Five stars. :) read more

The first thing I'd like to say is that being able to drive up and drop off donations is awesome! The people are always friendly and it's such a great finish to gathering items to share in order to help others. Whether you are looking for some great bargains or want to do some cleaning out of items you haven't looked at for several years, this is a good place to go! The staff is friendly and helpful and at checkout they will ask you if you have an Idaho Youth Ranch card---it's worth it. After accumulating so many purchases you get some dollars off on the next purchase. Why pay $100 or more for cashmere or soft woolen sweaters when you can get them here for about $5? It's true! It's just a matter of checking the stores on a regular basis. Need a kitchen item or even some dinner plates? This is the place to go. As to finding a home for the housewares or clothing that has been accumulating in your closet, dropping them off at any Youth Ranch is a breeze. You just load up your items, drive to any store, and signs will point you to the drop off area. Someone will meet you and help you unload and give you a tax receipt if you wish. Since this is a non-profit all the proceeds go to a worthy cause so that's even a bigger plus! read more
