Stopped into the downtown Idaho Youth Ranch after my doctor's appointment to see what kind of treasures they had. It's been a few years since I have shopped at this location. Excited to see what kind of fun things I can find. I appreciate how big this location is. All sorts of things you can find here. I did find a couple pieces that caught my eye. I hesitated on a few things cause of the prices they are charging. Just like the other Idaho Youth Ranches in town, you just shake your head at the prices things are priced at. When you're asking for 50 dollars for a vintage item that was donated to you, that screams nothing but greed to me. So much profit to be made off this item. Not one penny was spent to purchase the item to sell at your store but you feel that you're entitled to charge that much. Very sad. The staff was nice. The store was pretty organized. But, I'm just still in awwww at some of the things IYR has priced. The prices have really taken the fun out of finding gems. I would rather other thrift stores that don't price gauge their customers. Now I know why I haven't been here for so long. read more

I stopped by Idaho Youth Ranch yesterday and had a really good experience. The guy at the register was super friendly, funny, and had great customer service it definitely made the visit better. I ended up buying a belt buckle, and while browsing I also noticed they had luggage at really affordable prices, which surprised me. I'm not usually someone who shops at thrift stores, but it was definitely worth going in and taking a look. If you're trying to find something without spending a lot of money, I'd recommend stopping by. read more

Ya this is a really fun Youth Ranch! Get ready to lose your friend! Those are the best kinds! (So many rooms and so many sections!!) Best part about this store for me is the front room with the oldy awesome clothes! They have some killer retro costumes or statement pieces. Prices on these are elevated but depending how much you love it, it might be worth it. The other room/section I love is the music and book nook (hey that rhymes!) Both sections are near the oldy awesome clothes section. I usually look over the old instruments, pushing keys and humming like I am playing all while eyeing an oldy awesome piece that I can't decide on. I have spend some serious time chilling in the music nook while staring down a sequin jacket. Yes, I bought it if you were wondering. The home good and kitchen sections are pretty crazy. I love. Plan on digging and moving items to find the treasures. Sort of sandwiched around the home good/kitchen section is the extra oldy, awesome, retro, clothes room. There are some real keepers in here. I don't want to ruin it but that room is pretty amazing. I have only highlighted my favorite rooms in this store. There is a "normal/modern" clothes section in the back that I never find anything but that doesn't mean you won't! I think the oldy awesome clothes sections take all my attention so I am not able to spend the time I need looking for normal, now a-days clothes. Get over yourself IYR! I get that it is for a good cause but the items you are selling have been DONATED to you. That means you were given these items for FREE. Please bring your prices down to a more reasonable level. $79 dollars for an old rocking chair? $100 dollars for a dirty couch that I will have to put some elbow grease into cleaning??? Come on! Price your items more fairly. Plus your rewards program stinks. You don't get rewards for donating and you have to earn A LOT of points buying stuff before you even get anything. I have donated bags and bags of items to the IYR down the street from my house. Well no more! I found an infinitely better thrift store to shop at and donate to. It's called Re-style in Boise. It benefits animals and their rewards program is awesome. Re-style gives you rewards for donating and buying. I've shopped there three times already and I'm two stamps away from getting 50% off my next purchase. Plus their prices are REASONABLE and the items they have are pretty neat. Do yourself and your wallet a favor, shop somewhere other than IYR. read more

Great store! Prices are a little high for thrift store. Customer service is so great! This thrift store has some good finds! Although this is a small shop, I've been here over 100 times now I never get tired of it. I absolutely love the location as-well! I recommend going to Napa Auto Parts (right in front of the store) if you need to use the bathroom, they do not have one unfortunately. Overall this is a great thrift shop and I would definitely recommend this place for room decor, they don't have much clothing clothing that teens desire but I would totally recommend going here, many of my friends always come to my house due to this thrift store being close, they never want to go to big city coffee or anything, just this place. That proves this is a great shop. read more

the Prices have gotten out of control. I believe management needs to remember not everyone that goes to thrift stores are resellers or do it for hobby. Some people need a bargain to clothe themselves and their families. I'm talking an ugly 80s jacket was $25 bucks! a supposebly "vintage" t-shirt from 2016 is not vintage for one and it was garth brooks was $25 bucks! also kids jeans $10 dollars my mom and I decided we are not going back . there's cheaper thrift stores . truly disappointing. read more

I am a big Idaho youth ranch fan; I frequently stop in different locations to check for deals while out and about in the boise area. I enjoy finding deals on designer clothes/labels have found that the Idaho youth ranch locations offer the best opportunity for finds. Other local thrift stores don't have the same opportunities or the pricing is more than the prices you will find at Idaho youth ranch. Today I found a Hugo boss shirt for $5 normally $150-200 shirt (made in Italy). The key to finding good deals is using google to determine the original selling price. A nice looking shirt from Walmart isn't really a find since it starting price is at a lower price point. I always find the staff to be friendly and the military discount is an added bonus. read more

I ordered a book from Idaho Youth Ranch Books. I used a credit card that was less than a year old with few hundred dollars in available credit. They first claimed the card was expired. When I checked my Amazon account (I ordered through them) my expiration date read 2015. Then they ran the darn card so many times it came back declined. You see, that credit card replaced one that was stolen. Instead of contacting me to straighten out the problem, they just cancelled my order then proceeded to email me at an account that no longer existed despite my having changed the email address quite a while ago. Apparently they don't know how to run a credit card or resolve issues. They had my number. If they had called to say the card was declined I would have called the credit card company to straighten it out, and they would have their money, but instead they just flaked on me. Seems to me a nonprofit should do everything they could to run the business end of things in a more professional manner. The reason this is so bothersome is that I needed that book for college. It was not just fun reading. Although I think they have a good mission, I would not utilize their book purchasing service until they get someone in there who truly understands the business end of running a business. read more
