They kept asking me for my phone number in case I needed to return. Who returns at a thrift store? That's weird. Ppl return USED clothes? I'm actually shocked with what I found. Don't know if I'll be back but I had a surprisingly positive experience. I spent approx 25 mins in store. Only thing I would say business wise; invest in febreze or air wick plug ins to combat the smell of used clothing. It's a major reason I don't thrift. It sounds like some others have had good luck here. But I won't be coming back. They did have a large selection of clothes. So that's 1 positive thing. But otherwise... most of their clothes are WAY over priced. I saw multiple clothes with rips, tears, holes, etc. Shoes had scratches, streaks and etc. They had shoes there that was 30$ and totally not good condition. The quality of most of the clothes and shoes here was not good. You might be able to find something good, but your gonna have to do some digging. ....for how much they priced their stuff here i could go to Burlington or TJ Maxx or something like this elsewhere and find nice clothes at a better price and good quality. I usually love shopping at Uptown, but this location typically doesn't have a ton of great stuff in stock. It really is hit or miss. As for selling clothes, don't even bother here. They won't even give you enough $ to pay for your gas there and home. Then, they turn around and up charge the buyers ten fold. Great used retail store with more than reasonable prices and a huge selection of items. What I am NOT ok with was their handling of the COVID mask mandate here in Boise. My wife and I were asked to leave because we were not wearing masks (we both have medical exemptions). When I explained this to the "manager" he told me I had to provide "documentation" or a "doctors note" proving I had an exemption. This is not his business and also is against the mandate itself, not to mention protected by HIPAA. b. EXEMPTIONS: i. Children under the age of two (2). ii. Persons with medical conditions, mental health conditions, or disability that prevent them from wearing a face covering. A person is NOT required to provide documentation demonstrating that the person cannot tolerate wearing a face covering. I showed him the mandate and where it explains there is no requirement of providing any documentation. He still insisted we had to leave. I finished paying for my wife's items and left right as he was harassing another couple about needing this "documentation." GO SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE! There are plenty of local retailers that aren't infringing on people's privacy and not being sheep. God bless America! read more

Brought in over 100 pieces of clothing and got given 7$. All of my clothes were organized and the clothes they didn't take they just stuffed back into my bags. This is very irritating, considering I'm going to multiple places afterwards for these clothes that they are not taking. Had them organized for a reason. Employees were extremely rude. Each time I've brought in clothing items, shoes, purses and accessories, I was met with a rather snobbish greeting, no matter who was at the front desk. The articles I bring in are freshly cleaned, washed and packed with care. I bring in high end brand, generally lightly used or new. After being told I need to stay in store while the items are processed, I take a moment to look thru the merchandise on the floor. It is not high end, and shows signs of wear and not being clean. When I am called to the front to finalize my business I am told they will take only one or two pieces out of at least fifty articles. The last time I brought in brand new with tags items, and this time was told they would pass on everything! Thus everything thru my efforts had to be donated, and I found coming to this establishment a complete disappointing waste of my time and a total negative experience. I usually go to the broadway location, but every so often I decide to come out to the fairview location; every time I am disappointed. There is hardly any organization of the racks, and the store is lacking fun sections such as "employee picks" "brands we love" "vintage" and a designated "boise state" section that are seen at the broadway location. The employees are rude and hardly meet you with eye contact. Today I came on a Tuesday, and had to wait 40+ for my clothes i'm selling to be looked at. On top of everything, they were out of TP in the bathroom. read more

If you love a good resale store you are going to love this place! Very clean, and well laid out. They have a great variety of clothing, trendy and staple pieces. Very fair pricing and they have great sales. If you want to sell your clothes they give you more money if you take in-store credit. I've bought and sold clothes here a couple times, and the employees have always been kind and helpful. The selection in the store seems excellent for women, but just ok for men tbh. I scored some new-with-tags board shorts for a great price, and was happy about that. Most of what I've sold has been vintage or quirky clothing and shoes, so don't be deterred by the website that says they mostly look for name brand stuff. Not a good company to work for. I hurt my back and had a doctor note. I called the store to let them know. They told me to get better and see you next week. I also Tex the manager to let them know I won't be in and about the doctors not. Then this Monday the acted like I never contacted anyone and they took my off the schedule because they thought I quit. When I finally was able to talk with the owner. He said he had no clue about my dr note and then the next day they let me go. I guess they don't care if your hurt or have a dr note. The store was empty because I went early when they opened at 9am. So it wasn't like she was busy. Was that asking for too much? She ended up not folding them. No they don't give you a ton but once you see their prices you'll see why and no they don't want your brodazzled denims or offbrand polyester. In my opinion, they take more clothes than other places in the area, and also give you the most money for your clothes. They also give you two options when selling clothes. You can either take cash for what they bought or store credit (they give you a few dollars more in store credit if you choose this option). Most of the time they are pretty quick about sorting through clothes. I think the longest I've waited was an hour, in which case, I just went down the street and grocery shopped while they sorted and then got a text when it was all ready! Buying: As far as shopping is concerned, I have only ever bought one thing here, but oh baby--it was a brilliant find. I was in search of a stunning but affordable dress for a gala. It was only two days away and I was in a pinch. I walked in here, asked to see their long dresses and was led over to their maxi dresses. I asked if they had any prom style/night gown dresses hidden away somewhere. After a few minutes, one of the girls working came up to me with a box filled with night gowns. I pulled out a neon yellow dress, then a puffy purple one, and alas--the most beautiful, sleek, and sexy black dress you could have ever imagined finding at a thrift shop. I held it up and it looked like it would fit. Hopeful, I took it in the dressing room, slipped into it, and to my surprise got the zipper all the way up (without fighting it). Y'all, this dress made me feel like Beyoncé. I looked in the mirror, happy danced, and then proceeded to buy this bad boy. Twenty dollars later and I had a dress that had me feeling like I was runnin' the world (catch that reference?). I've been here a few too many times and just realized it could not be less worth it. The employees are not quick to greet customers and will not make eye contact or chat. They don't accept clothes brought in black plastic bags which seems very entitled to me (I'm sure ppl just use what they can to donate clothes?). They don't accept $50 blouses barely worn or summer tops with tags. But don't worry! Their inventory has plenty of pilled, stained, and TACKY polyester creations- only some of which smell. You can choose whether to take $8 for 5 of 30 clean and folded items though! Also they always act shocked when you ask to have the rest of your items back lol. I would not be surprised if they sell clothes they claim to donate. Why else would they do what they do? Their business model seems to trick you into thinking it's philanthropic when it couldn't be any farther from. The resale prices are INSANE compared to what they buy things for. I would go to Plato's Closet or skip a step and donate everything straight away. read more

I'll never know how this place stays in business. So unethical! I took in my clothes, dropped them off. They never called me to tell me they were done going through my bag of designer clothes. Because I left their store to wait in my car and make an important call, I was not allowed to see what they had bought. I figured it out on my own: The Calvin Klein NWT shirt, the Coldwater Creek sweater, and a pair of new dress pants. 8.00 total and wouldn't show me what they bought. Say they pay 30 percent that's a lie. Sold 9 items and only got 30 dollars. If they paid out 30 percent then I would have received over 30 dollars. So disappointing. I took in 3 pair of new boots and 4 pair of shoes worn once, as well as 2 pair of new wide leg jeans. They offered me $3.50 for one pair of boots that I purchased new and never wore last fall for $139. When I inquired about the rest of the items, I was told that they cater to a certain clientele and are looking for up to date and a different style of clothing. Everything I took in was less than a year old, not old lady style and definitely fashion that you could walk into any women's clothing store and buy today. I felt discriminated against because I am 66 years old, but that doesn't mean my sense of style would not appeal to someone younger. There were certainly items there that I would not hesitate to buy and actually bought a jacket while there. They had no problem taking my money for that jacket, so I was the right "clientele" when my money was good. read more
