I love this school! It's amazing. The education that your child will get here is better than any private school that we interviewed with.

Another thing is no response when it comes to issues going on within the school. I've accepted this and although my child has been here 2 years they will no longer be attending IDEA. My child has gotten worse academically since starting here. Also, it's pretty much impossible to get your child on any sport team unless your child has been going to the school for years and years. My child was like a pariah here and wasn't wanted in any sports or afterschool activities. They would tell my child that I'd have to go and apply for the clubs then when I would go they would tell me the child would have to go which made me believe that they just did not want them in there. Think long and hard before bringing your child to this school. Also, if your child isn't perfect As and no issues don't even bother with this school. I don't know what would help to improve because this school needs so much help. Good luck to anybody who chooses this school to send their child to!

They lie on grades and pass kids just to pass them so the school can still get funded for kids passing. Teachers are always needed due to teachers leaving they are under staff. With all my timing there I was very impressed and more than anything thankful. If you have any kids that need to go to school make sure they come here. Northside is a very good district however it is a bit tough to get the best services with them but at least give them a chance to tell you what they can help you with and everything. With me being autistic I was given the advantage to do sports and try different things that most people aren't able to do or try. Whenever I graduated from here at this district I can't be more thankful and more proud of what I've accomplished since Day 1 from coming here. Now that I see my little brother graduating here in 2025, makes me more happy because I know he'll do great in life and everything. I'm just curious to see how it ends for him and all those that apart of Northside. Northside was definitely the best I've been apart of. I can't be more happier and thankful than I already am. I'm a graduate from 2022 that went to Harlan . Thanks again Northside and I can't wait to see everyone especially my brother graduate here.

There is a District gym with ALL the latest amenities in the East end of the school. However, the school has its own Main & Auxiliary gym in the middle. I've hesitated to write this review for some time, but after seeing recent allegations against the…read moreschool, I feel it is important to share my experience. While our first year was smooth, the second year revealed systemic issues in how the school is managed and how they are dismissive serious student concerns. There were 4 primary areas of concern that led to me pulling my child from this school- Inappropriate Spiritual Guidance: My child was told by the Pastor's wife that if he wasn't a "good kid," his heart would become "dirty" and he would die. Using fear and mortality as a disciplinary tool for a young child is spiritually and emotionally damaging. Academic Management: Despite a very small class size of only six students, a significant amount of classwork was consistently sent home for me to supervise and correct. I was told this was to prevent him from losing recess which i didn't agree with at all , but with a 6:1 student to teacher ratio, I expected the educator to be able to manage individual student progress and corrections during school hours. Response to Bias : One of the most upsetting incidents involved a student telling my son to "go back to his country." When I requested a meeting to discuss how the school promotes an inclusive environment, the response from leadership was dismissive. Instead of addressing the harm caused, the Principal stated they "don't talk about race" and her dad/ the Pastor of the church on campus proceeded to share a tone-deaf anecdote about owning an "Aunt Jemima" cookie jar and not understanding why a visitor found it offensive. Lastly, My child was not served lunch one day and went the entire day with only a snack. When questioned, the teacher blamed my son for "not speaking up." He later told me he was too embarrassed to ask because the teacher had been threatening the class all week that they "wouldn't get pizza" if they didn't behave. Using food as a bargaining chip or threat is cruel. Lack of Accountability: When I informed the Principal we were leaving, there was no concern for my childs well-being or the reasons for our departure. The immediate response was that "per the handbook, tuition is still due for two months." It became clear that the administration and faculty --which is heavily insulated by family ties--is not at all equipped to handle modern social dynamics or provide a supportive, inclusive atmosphere. Issues are swept under the rug rather than addressed with the transparency and growth one would expect from an educational institution.

RPA is like homeschooling on steroids. The kids get a concentrated education, learn more than they ever would in public school and are free from distractions and bad behavior. One of the reasons we didn't want our kids going to public school is the lack of parental accountability for children's discipline and behavior. I love that RPA recognizes kids have bad days but does not tolerate ongoing discipline issues that distract from the classroom and influence other kids to behave the same way. The parents have built a unique community and often spend time together on the playground after school while the kids play. It is Little House on the Prarie meets modern-day San Antonio.
