We read the unit (424) on Ideal Beach Resort's website was newly remodeled. It was far from remodeled in the past 30 years. Where to begin- large punched out holes in the walls, patches of mold in the bathroom around tub, in the ceiling, in all the grout, wallpaper is literally peeling everywhere, the main sliding door won't lock, the levelor blinds were broken so the Murphy bed had the exposure to everyone walking by, the one working TV (other one wasn't hooked up) had all the chords hanging everywhere with an old table in front of the tv in front of the fireplace.... The list goes on and one and one. It was absolutely gross and a complete rip off. The facilities are also not maintained. Two years ago the tennis/pickleball courts were thrashed with giant cement patches and old nets that sag with holes. They looked even worse now. We paid a small fortune for one of the most disgusting places we have ever stayed. I wasn't too worried about it until my wife got sick for the whole stay. So she had to suffer in this place for the week. Many of the units of our family reunion were amazing. If I could single out unit 424, than I would. Just hardly fair to be charging close to the same amount as these other units that are new and well maintained. read more

Yes, there are some cool activities here (hammocks, mini golf, a playground and a giant chessboard), however, the beach is awful, unless you don't mind carrying your things half a mile through pavement, grass, sand and swamp to get to water with rocks and weeds sticking out of it. The fitness center and one of the pools was closed for some reason when I was there. The other pool is tiny and crowded. If you're looking for a good beach experience, don't waste your money. read more

We were so excited about this trip as we had previously visited a sister resort. My only complaint would be the lack of activities hosted in the winter. I know the weather prevents a lot of outside activities but they could still host indoor ones. But the staff was friendly as well as the maintenance guy. Wish I would have gotten his name, he was very professional and friendly. Loved seeing the deer hanging out every morning. read more

When reading reviews of Ideal Beach Resort keep in mind that many of the units are privately owned and some are rentals. Because of that some units have been remodeled and some haven't. Our family owns a couple of units that are very nice inside and were fully remodeled only a few years back. Amenities at the Ideal Beach are great. Nice swimming pool and hot tub, laundromat, clean beach, and a large grassy area to play games like croquet and volleyball. I've always been very happy with the time I've spent here and really love the area. Ideal Beach is one of the best places to enjoy Bear Lake. read more

Resort is great and has a good clean wholesome environment for kids and adults. The lawn space here is huge, the setup is so that you can get to the beach from almost anywhere on the resort easily. In years past the water has been very low and it was a long walk to get to the water. This year looks to be a little bit better. The resort has two swimming pools and several places to rinse of your sandy feet. The parking area is huge! The summer time months here are very busy and bustling. The resort has mini golf, basketball hoops and tennis courts. read more

Very disappointed. In fine print they say check after 4:30pm so you assume it's around that time. Nope it was closer to 8pm and with 4 little kids that was bed time. When we arrived and unloading our car my little girl was helping me unload and this kid on a golf cart cleaning jumps the curb and almost hits her and when I get after him he says "wHat?" Then we spill a cooler and used the towels to clean it up. They wanted to charge $8 for new towels! And $20 for a fan because there is no A/C. So disappointed in the direction this resort is going. #340 This unit is an ECONOMY unit. Although you cannot complain about the state of the unit, you should be able to complain about cleanliness. There were at least 6 large spots plus a u-shaped dribble that extended about 18 inches on the carpet spread throughout the unit. On day 1, I requested that the carpet be cleaned, never heard back from management. I requested again on day 3, never heard back from management. I went in again on day 5. They said that the lady that cleaned the carpets was out and would not be back until day 6 which is one day before I left. They then questioned, "Why do it?" Management refused to refund me for days 2-7 that my guests were not in the unit because they were waiting for the carpet to be cleaned. The unit has AC but it does not work well enough to cool the small unit on hot summer days/nights. The kitchen sink or disposal leaked profusely and soaked most of what was being stored underneath. I would not recommend renting this unit. Good luck if you do! Ideal Beach is a really nice place for a family vacation but I would NEVER rent and owned unit again. #473 This is a very nice unit. My complaint is that it was sold to me as a unit for 18 people. They have beds sufficient for 18 people . The Fire Code posted on the back of the door to the unit, however, limits the unit to 10. I feel deceived. I do not appreciate business who unethically rent and endanger their guests. What if there is a fire? This is a disaster and a lawsuit waiting to happen. The unit has 3 AC unit. None of the units had enough coolant to make much of a difference in the temperature of the room. You are better off keeping the doors and windows open even in August! Such a shame as Ideal Beach community is really a nice place for a family vacation. read more

We had heard good things about Ideal Beach Resort, but I would NEVER stay there again. If I could give no stars, I would. First off, the check in time was 3pm, or after, (not guaranteed) and the check out time was 10am, no exceptions, but they did not tell me this until after their required 60 days in advance to your arrival cancellation policy is in force. I tried to cancel, once I knew the small amount of time that we would actually be there, but they refused to let me, wanted to charge me full price regardless. As we were only staying one day, that late check in only gave us a maximum 18 hours of availability at the Resort, not accounting for setup/unpack time, meal times, colder night time temperatures where you don't want to be wet, and times with no lights at night/sleep time. Upon arrival, the key got stuck in the door, which wasted 20 minutes.The room was at least 90 degrees. We had to turn on the air conditioner but it never cooled the room off. Around 4am, the temperature was down to 80, only because the air cooled off outside. We attempted 8 times to call someone, and we went to the office, during "office hours" but the lights were off, no one was there and the sign said closed. There were NO IN CASE OF EMERGENCY numbers provided with check in paperwork, posted in the room or on their website. Come to find out the AC unit in our room was actually broken but they rented the room to us anyway. The Air conditioning unit was nowhere close to the beds anyway, and it was tucked in a corner behind a wall. Doubt it would have worked that well, even if it weren't broken. This was the first week of July with temperatures near 100. In addition to the hotness of the room, the room was FILTHY. Our sheets were dirty and torn. No vacuuming had been done. WE FOUND OTHER PEOPLE'S USED TISSUES BETWEEN THE BED AND NIGHTSTAND!!! (closest to the bathroom). There was spider webs, and dust everywhere. The bathroom floor and shower were worn and dirty. The chairs to sit on where so stained I would not allow my kids to sit in them. There was some orange stuff dripping from the ceiling. There were so many bugs that when you turned off all the lights and turned on your phone all the bugs would come to the light. There were dead bug bodies on the nightstand and dresser. There was a chemical smell in the room. It smelled really bad. By the time I left, my throat was sore, and my eyes burned. When we turned off the TV, it would turn back on without anyone touching any buttons. This occurred at least 5 times in a row. After many attempts, it finally stayed off. I did not sleep the entire night, due to the heat. My husband could not sleep well because of the heat. I was packed and out of there 2 hours before the mandatory 10am check out because I did not want my family to be there any more. There were none of the activities that were supposed to be provided by the resort. There was no one doing Smores on the beach. No Fire at all. No one near the firepit at all. No employees to be found at 7pm. With the late check in, there wasn't time to rent any watercraft. THE BEACH was CROWDED, SUPER FILTHY-full of STICKS & ROCKS, the water was murky and had oil and goo from the boats and seadoos that don't have a designated spot away from swimmers. My kids refused to get in past their knees, so we decided to try something else. The playground equipment was too hot to play on, as it is only metal with no shade coverings and no trees, and so my kids decided to go swimming at the pool. When we went into the locker rooms, the women's room was dangerous and filthy. Puddles of muddy water were on the floor of the women's locker room. You had to watch your step as you enter and moved around to not slip. In fact, when we were leaving there was 2 young teenage boys in the girls locker room spraying them out with a hose. They said they got complaints of how dirty the locker room was. The pool was pretty crowded. No room at all in the hot tub, because there was so many people. I attempted to call all of the numbers I could find on the internet to talk to someone about the problems we were having. I called 8 times, 2 different numbers. No one ever answered the phone. The voicemail box was full, so I was unable to leave any messages. We went to the office between 630-730pm. The office was closed and there was no one there. There was no emergency numbers in any of our check in paperwork. I waited a week to get a call back from the manager. He said that he will give us a full refund and that our AC unit was broken, during the time of our stay. TWENTY DAYS LATER I AM STILL WAITING FOR THAT REFUND THAT I ASKED FOR ON THE DAY OF OUR CHECK OUT. I have PROVIDED PICTURES. I have had to hound the office manager, Lexi, and she has yet to put the money back on my card. There is no way to get past her, as the gatekeeper, to the owner. THIS WAS THE WORST "VACATION" I have EVER had! So glad it did not last long. read more

Definitely a less than ideal beach. A bed covered in dead mosquitoes and 4 plates for what was supposed to feed 12 people. Really just the worst place to stay. I have stayed at Ideal Beach around 20 times, and decided it was time I would give it an honest review. We love this place, however there is much room for improvement. The good: The location is wonderful, and just a short walk to the beach. Mini golf, basketball, tennis, and the pools are great activities to do throughout the day. We recently discovered they have a craft station just south of the pool, and we have done some fun crafts with the kids. The little store/lobby they have on the property is nice. It has a sitting area (with Wifi), a grocery area, and they have recently put in a little playpen for small children. We always get a cup of ice cream here as tradition before we walk down to the beach as well. The condo we stay in is slowly being updated, because we have noticed new couches, tvs, sinks, etc. It also fits a ton of people. The grass area and playground are great for playing games and being together with family. The bad: The condos have no AC so it can become an oven in the middle of the day during summer. The fan does not cool it down enough. Usually there is no wifi in the condos, but we noticed this year they have an option for it. Unfortunately it has terrible service and is very spotty. Although the condo is decently clean, the outdated-ness of it makes it seem more dirty. The pools can sometimes be very dirty but I assume it's because people are in and out of the lake all day. The hot-tub closes at 10, which is super early in my opinion. All the condos are different, so be prepared if you are planning on staying here and do your research beforehand. We always stay on the top floor with a loft, but I know there are some that get different ones and people hate it. The sand walking down to the beach is rocky, and tears up your feet so bring sandals when walking down. This place is also very expensive, so save up! Overall, we love this place. The kids love it, and there's tons to do so we try to overlook the bad. read more

An utter failure. Horrible horrible horrible management, customer service, and horrible lack of cleanliness! After a 3 hour delay checking us in to the room (not exaggerated) we walk into our room and an instant smell of vomit! We walk around the room and we can see where the vomit was both on the floor and furniture. Gross! It was wiped up but obviously not thoroughly cleaned. Management came to look at the room and told us that all was well, that room had been cleaned and that was the best we were going to get. Disgusting! I couldn't believe how condescending and rude they were about the situation. The staff at Ideal Beach are unprofessional, incompetent and incapable of providing a quality experience for paying guests. After telling them we would not stay in this gross room, they then tell us "you have two options, either stay or pack your bags WITHOUT a refund"! Unbelievable! Worst service we have ever experienced! They never apologized for any of the ridiculous mishaps in their management! I can't believe they tried to put people in that room...completely unsanitary! Not only could I not stay because of the horrible smell that almost made me vomit, but being in direct contact with someone else's bodily fluids is also going to make us sick and I'm sure this is against a health code. We are a family of 60 people that come to Bear Lake every year, we will never come back to Ideal Beach Resort. It is anything but ideal. This was in Building D room 430 if I was the owner of this unit I would want to know! You should look in to selling or finding a manager and staff who care to grow your business. If I could give zero stars I would. This place is so gross. We booked it for a week and only stayed one night and got a different place to stay across town. The condos are so old and dirty. There is no air conditioning and in July makes it a heater. You get a demanding note when you check in that you will be fined if you don't wash the dishes and take out the trash. The bunk beds looked like something you'd see in a jail. The sheets and towels feel like cardboard. If you don't usually travel and just camp, maybe this would be a good option. The swimming pool was particularly disgusting. When my son went under water he came up with hair all over his face. It was so dirty! Never never never again. This place should be shut down by the health department. No one should pay to stay here. Hopefully Marriott or Westin buys them out because the location is great. That's it. read more

We stayed three miserable days. There is NO air conditioning. It was very hot. The beds were dirty. We paid 650 for three nights. The bathroom was dirty. The beach was completely trashed. I was very sad that we spent our money there on our vacation. We had no money to go anywhere else. We tried to make the best of it. read more
