We're currently working to get a refund on the nights we didn't use (since we left early) and still haven't received a call back. Unfortunately one of the staff saw our 22 year old son (unbeknownst to us) smoking a 'clove cigarette' on the balcony one morning, resulting in a $336 charge to my credit card. Reviewing the contract, I realized it stated smoking anywhere 'may' result in this fee. I called the manager to explain this wasn't tobacco, we were unaware and would never allow smoking on their premises. I asked for a reduction in the fee to $100 which I would have our son pay for the lesson learned. No one in our family smokes tobacco and we took excellent care of the unit, even avoiding shoes inside. The manager refused, stated I was lying, insisting the unit reeked of smoke, and complaining that we got a great deal on the condo (prior to memorial day opening season at Bear Lake when we were the only visitors, so of course they gave us a deal!), and ultimately offered me $50 off, still resulting in an extra $286 loss to my family. I was happy to pay some portion of the fee for the 'clove cigarette,' but was terribly disappointed in this unfounded accusation and huge added expense for my family.

While the location of the resort is absolutely stunning, and we very much enjoyed visiting the area, we were time and again disappointed in the resort. The following is the list of problems we had with the resort. First, we were unable to get the Wi-Fi to work. So, naturally, we wanted to call maintenance to see if it could be fixed, but the office hours are from 9-5. Frankly, when you are on vacation, you are out of the room usually during those hours - we went skiing everyday, leaving around 8:30 and back about 5:15 and so were never able to call and ask about it. This was a problem since we had planned on using it to pay some bills and buy Christmas gifts on line. We finally received a call Thursday night from Annette who wanted to see how we were doing. She indicated that the wi-fi didn't really work and anyway, no one would be out to restart the router till tuesday of next week - which did not help us at all. She did however send out the maintenance man to help us with our DVD player. He was very prompt and was there is 10 min. The office hours should be changed to evening hours at least. Another frustration we had is that at such a resort with International visitors, there was no cork screw or wine glasses. We bought a cork screw at the gas station which broke after one use, and the subsequent one we exchanged it for broke before any bottle was opened. Annette on Thursday noted that she probably wouldn't have anything like that, however the maintenance man found us one straightaway. I wish I knew his name because he was the most helpful employee. Not in any of the timeshares around the world have we seen no wine glasses or corkscrew. The quality of the pots and pans was also a disappointment, the large stock pot was missing a handle, which made it difficult and dangerous to handle when hot and the frying pan handle was about to fall off. The rear left burner on the stove did not work - and since we like to make gourmet meals for holidays, these things made it difficult. Additionally, the cabinetry in the kitchen was extremely old and needs refurbishing - there should at the very least be shelf paper in them because the glasses stored upside down had residue on the rims from the dirty shelves. Also, there was only the fork part of the salad serving plasticware. The downstairs toilet had a tendency to clog and finally we were unable to use it at all. The downstairs restroom has a ventilation problem and no towel ever dried completely after hung up there. I should mention that this unit is supposed to house 10 people, however, there is only 1 towel rack in each room. Where are those 10 people supposed to hang their towels? Not to mention the lack of hangers in the hall closet for jackets, there are only 4. Additionally, the wall heater in the bathroom did not work and frankly, during a renovation should be removed as it is quite gross looking as well. The front door had a problem with locking. Once it was locked, it was hard to unlock it from the inside. You had to use the key from the outside and the key we were given did not work the deadbolt. Finally, we visited the hot tub on Thursday night and it was a perfect temperature; so on Christmas Eve (Friday) we decided to leave the slopes early to enjoy the hot tub before it got dark. First let me say that going to the hot tub is no small feat in 8 degree weather - since you have to go outside to get there. However, the door was locked and we were unable to enter. In all of the literature it said that the hot tub is open everyday 10am -10pm. So why was it locked? At this point, we were quite fed up with the resort and of course it was after 5pm, so we called the emergency number which apparently is Annette's cell phone number. She said that she wasn't in charge of the pool and there was nothing she could do. What great customer service! We would not hang up until we got something from her, but before that she said it is Christmas for her too. Finally, she relented and said she would try to call whoever was in charge of the pool. Of course nothing happened and on Christmas Day it was still locked and since there is NOTHING open on Christmas, we couldn't even go in the pool to break up our day. Overall, this resort needs a complete renovation badly.

We stayed in both the Safari suite (don't recommend due to it's proximity to the main area, unless it's going to be a quiet night at the Inn) and the Nautical family suite. There is also a game room, and a decent selection of free DVD's and books to borrow; as well as a couple of common areas with sofas, fireplace and big screen TV. The chef, Brittany was a big surprise for such a small city . Can't say enough about the food in Kersama Restaurant, so I'll just say everything we had over the course of the two night stay was excellent. Her husband Jesse worked well with her and served as the bartender and waiter, provided great service. Carol, one of the owners, was the perfect hostess. We had one slight glitch, and it was rectified immediately with no question. She was like a personal tour guide, suggesting where to go and what to do. Bear Lake is beautiful, and this is a wonderful place to stay if you are in the area.

We liked the resort overall. Just like any place it is not perfect but a solid 4 stars. The good: the rooms were clean and pretty spacious, very friendly staff, bathrooms are top notch, access to a large pool that was heated perfectly, access to tennis (we did not use), nice location, and solid walls so you could not hear the neighbors TV or screaming kids The bad: check in time is only at 4pm (unless arranged for another time). I did not read the check in instructions so this was my fault, luckily the manager called and asked if we were still coming and was really nice despite my mistake. They do not stock the bathrooms with shampoo so bring your own, they do provide soap. Since the resort is circular it can be a maze to get to your room (I'm nit-picking here). We only were given one key so we had to coordinate a lot to ensure no one was locked out. The price was about what to expect when visiting bear lake in the summer over a very busy weekend so it was high but expect to pay that. Sure you can spend less down the road but you will not have access to a big heated pool. The kids and I loved the pool a lot. This was a highlight to our trip.

Where to begin- large punched out holes in the walls, patches of mold in the bathroom around tub, in the ceiling, in all the grout, wallpaper is literally peeling everywhere, the main sliding door won't lock, the levelor blinds were broken so the Murphy bed had the exposure to everyone walking by, the one working TV (other one wasn't hooked up) had all the chords hanging everywhere with an old table in front of the tv in front of the fireplace.... The list goes on and one and one. It was absolutely gross and a complete rip off. The facilities are also not maintained. Two years ago the tennis/pickleball courts were thrashed with giant cement patches and old nets that sag with holes. They looked even worse now. We paid a small fortune for one of the most disgusting places we have ever stayed. I wasn't too worried about it until my wife got sick for the whole stay. So she had to suffer in this place for the week. Many of the units of our family reunion were amazing. If I could single out unit 424, than I would. Just hardly fair to be charging close to the same amount as these other units that are new and well maintained.

The staff has been friendly and helpful, resort is clean. Though the resort is dog friendly, it is lacking a dog park or designated dog area. On hot days, walking on blacktop is tough on my pooch. Have to rush between grassy spots trying to avoid others camprounds to find a spot for her to do her business. That is the only negative to this resort, otherwise I would give it 5 stars. My SIL would love if they had a couple more cabins as they have been booked both times before we could get one. Plan on bringing more families next year.
