This is where to go if you're way over weight, such as morbidly obese, and considering bariatric…read moresurgery. After trying all types of other weight loss programs, and none working long term, bariatric sleeve might be the last resort option you want to use. Some insurances will cover the cost of this surgery, or at least part of it, as being obese is now considered to be like many other diseases or health issues. Obesity can lead to many other health issues such as diabetes, edema, sleep apnea, heart attack, stroke, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, back pain, joint pain, loss of breath, lack of energy, depression, loss of quality of life, and other issues. Although this may seem like an elective surgery, for some it can be a life saving necessary surgery, and society is just beginning to see obesity as a major health issue that leads to many other issues and that needs to be over come just like any other detrimental health issue. When going here you will meet with a nurse for a consultation and they will take all your vitals and have your blood drawn across the hallway for more extensive examination. You will also meet with a dietitian who will go over your eating habits, and explain to you what you need to eat and the portion size of it. These are both about 20-30 minute meetings. Then you will meet with a psychiatrist for 2-3 hours, after you take a long extensive multiple choice exam, which gives the psychiatrist a look into your behaviors, and to see if you would be a good candidate for bariatric surgery. As the success rate for keeping the weight off may be in the 80-90% range, I am not certain. This surgery is not a cure all or permanent fix. The patient still must follow guidelines and make a life style change in eating habits and exercising for the results to remain permanent forever. If you have tried all other options to lose and keep the weight off, but they have all failed, this may be an option for you.

The entire team does a fantastic job, and I recommend them to anyone seeking this type of procedure. Over several months of visits they prepped me, taught me all about healthy foods, exercise, and how this surgery would change my life. They made me feel at ease, with no questions left unanswered. They accept a variety of insurance types, and were always able to get my appointments in the afternoons, as I prefer them to be. Getting closer to the surgery date my mind naturally began to get some anxiety and I was having about a 20% thought of not having the surgery. After talking to several others who had this surgery, the surgeon, other doctors and nurses, my mind was set and committed 100% to doing it. Now, 6 weeks post surgery, I am doing great, I have lost 60lbs in 6 weeks, and am not hungry at all, and sticking to my eating regimen, and all is going perfect for me concerning this operation. Even now when I go out with friends and family to restaurants and see all the yummy items on the menu and watch them eat in front of me, although the steaks, burgers, seafood, and other items look so tasty, I stick to my plan, and am not tempted at all. Although it might be about 1 year before I can again partake in eating the many foods that I did love, my current eating plan now satisfies my previously insatiable carnivorous hunger cravings. It is just as many others I spoke to that have had this same surgery all had one statement in common, which I now better understand and 100% agree with; "This surgery changed and saved my life." Soon I will post new photos of myself and some of my adventures on Yelp, and all of you will see the huge impact this has made on me when you compare my before and after photos. Huge thanks to this great team of medical professionals who helped turn my life into a more healthy and enjoyable life!

Recently my esthetician told me that I should look into microneedling to address some scarring and…read moreachieve my ultimate skincare goals. So when Indiana Medical Center advertised an introductory microneedling session with a bonus hydration treatment at a really great price, I jumped on it. I was required to put down a reasonable $29 deposit at booking. Then received a text offering me a "complimentary" red light therapy session, "if you keep your original appointment." I found it odd that it was stated to have a value of $99, as it seems pretty standard in beauty treatments these days. I was sent online forms to fill out beforehand and was so annoyed with all the mistakes made by the person who created the forms. Even if I answered no and the next question was asking for more detail IF you answered yes, I still had to enter text in the box to move forward. This happened MANY times. Also blank boxes with no questions attached that had to have text entered to move along. They also require you to sign individual consent and liability release forms for literally every single service they offer, despite the fact that I'm only getting one. When I arrived, I was asked to fill out forms again. I ask if they're aware of all the issues with their forms and also ask why I'm required to sign consent on treatments that I'm not receiving. Yes, they're aware their forms are annoying garbage and they have you sign all these consents "just in case you're interested in additional treatment." The esthetician that I worked with was really pleasant. But before we could get started, I was brought into an "office" (bare room with a table and 2 chairs) to FaceTime "the owner" for a "consultation." This is the moment that I wished I had not paid a deposit, because I would have walked out. I have not experienced high pressure sales in spa settings in so long that I thought it was a thing of the past. No one likes to be sold. Indiana Medical Center didn't get that memo. Here I am, having not even received services yet, and I'm being pressured into buying a package of multiple sessions. Or upgrading to add something I've never heard of that adds $500 to my services. Furthermore, she most certainly could not evaluate the condition of my skin over Facetime, but can confidently assert that I need a $5k package to meet my skincare goals? This woman would not take no for an answer. I had to go from politely saying, a couple of times, "I'd like to experience the service I've booked first and see how my skin reacts before making any further decisions," to flat, firm "no" and then sighing loudly and looking off into the distance of the blank walls. This felt more like the maddening experience of dealing with a used car salesman than receiving a beauty treatment. I finally get to have my services performed and discover the red light therapy is in fact just standard. The hydration treatment? She had no clue what I was referencing. I was so over it all at that point and just wanted to get this done and over with and be on my way, so I let it go. The actual microneedling went just fine. She was pleasant and easy to talk beauty trends with. Farmers plowing fields played on the TV and random music from YouTube played. There is absolutely no attention to details to make the experience feel luxurious, pampering or indulgent. Wouldn't you know that as soon as we finished, she said that we needed to go back into the "office" and FaceTime with the used car saleswoman to discuss further treatment options. I refused, paid my balance and will not return. I'd rather file my own taxes than spend another second in that environment.
