Boltz is a caring, compassionate physician, who is not an alarmist when addressing symptoms brought by a patient. He is exceedingly thorough, and will order various blood work as well as imaging to rule out (or in) neurological conditions as evidenced by a patient history. He listens to his patients, eliciting a thorough history. He is also very much interested in hearing from family members who have ongoing contact with a patient, as they are frequently in a very good position to provide patient history. He has been my husband's neurologist for more than 12 years, and has consistently shown concern for his condition, and has involved me in providing information. I have also seen him on several occasions to address some neuropathy issues. He has always approached the "whole patient" when making recommendations and does not simply prescribe medications. His practice is quite busy and while he accepts new patients, the wait time to receive a new patient appointment is longer than many would like. He is affiliated with Delray Medical Center. If you or a family member is in need of care and you can deal with the wait time for a new patient appointment, you will not be disappointed.

There were 2 women when I went in working at the reception area. One woman looked as if she absolutely didn't want to be there. Never smiled or greeted me into the office. I called them back that same day at 3:30 and was told the appointment had been unilaterally cancelled!!! The office manager refused to honor the appointment or reschedule us for that week. She said they have a lot of no-shows so they were justified in cancelling my appointment. When I had called them back SAME DAY!!!! My mother is 90. I am taking her in two weeks to Europe as her last trip. We needed to see the doctor beforehand. When my mother waits two months, that is a big chunk of the time she has left. Who do these people think they are, demi-gods? Their time is worth more than other people's because they have been fortunate enough to be able to get a good education? Absolutely SHAMEFUL. The office manager kept telling me that we could see a physician's assistant and it would be the same thing. WELL IF IT'S THE SAME THING, THEN GIVE ME THE DOCTOR. If it's the same thing, why does the doctor charge more? If it's the same thing, why does the doctor have to go to school longer and take a Board examination? I watched people getting off the elevator for over 90 minutes before I was finally able to follow someone to a space they were leaving. Yowza. We had two visits here within a week. One was a simple biopsy. The later was an extended stay in the Neuro ICU. Don't worry, everyone's fine now. The nursing staff was over the top welcoming, helpful, caring and friendly. Especially the nurse who spotted my brother and I in my Dad's room after he went back for his procedure and walked us over to the area so we could be with him before he went back for it. And just everyone was super nice. I wouldn't want to spent multiple days here again but if there's a nicer hospital in South Florida, I can't find it. I arrived at Labor & Delivery in active labor after my OB had already been notified and instructed…read moreme to tell the front desk to contact him immediately because he was expecting me. I did exactly that. I repeatedly told staff my baby was coming, but I was told there was no room available. Then my water broke directly in front of the Labor & Delivery desk. I dropped to my hands and knees, screaming and crying in pain while my husband repeatedly begged staff to help me. I was not immediately examined, given a wheelchair, or taken for care. An off-duty nurse who heard my screams from outside the hospital came in, recognized the emergency, got a wheelchair herself, and rushed me toward triage. Because I had not yet been admitted, my husband could not come with me. When the elevator opened, I was in such advanced labor that I physically could not sit because my baby had descended into the birth canal. I crawled out of the elevator on my hands and knees. In triage, I removed my own soaked clothes and shoes, climbed onto the bed myself while shaking uncontrollably, and repeatedly screamed that my baby was coming. Despite staff being around me, I still was not immediately examined. One nurse asked my name, told me I was "doing okay," and walked away. It was only when another nurse realized my baby's head was already crowning that a physician was called to catch her. My daughter was born approximately eight minutes after my water broke. Thankfully, my daughter and I were physically okay, but that does not make this acceptable. I genuinely believed I was going to deliver my baby without medical assistance inside a hospital. The incident became known within my OB's practice. At my postpartum appointment, staff were already aware of what happened and referred to my delivery as a "horror story." I am sharing this because no woman in active labor should have to beg for medical attention while her baby is literally being born.

I called the company who gave me a breakdown of what this major tests involve including lying flat on my back for 40 minutes or so. I then went online and discovered that Shavit is a NURSE and not a doctor as I was told. SO I cancelled the next appointment and will get another opinion with a true Neurologist before attempting the major test.
