Every three weeks after her treatments we go for a short walk around the park since it's right across the street. Today, we received some devastating news about her cancer and so after her appointment we went to the park to have a moment with her before driving back to Greensboro. We were kicked out. We've never seen any signs nor has anyone ever approached us about no dogs being allowed. We've seen many other people with their little dogs as well. It felt like a punch in the gut. A place we went for solace just added to our pain.

The park is beautiful however it doesn't allow dogs which is a huge let down. All of us homeowners…read morein parkside townhomes own dogs and it is torture for them having to watch the park and not being able to play. Also, this park is extremely disruptive to our community. They are constantly blaring music above appropriate decibel levels. Sometimes before 8am on a Saturday and passed 9pm on weekdays. To the point the noise rattles our homes and blares through the walls. I moved to this area thinking it would be quiet and peaceful, it has been anything but. I reached out to Eunice Donnelly the park and Rec "director" and she did nothing to resolve the matter. She kept directing me to their website for events which half the events they've run this summer aren't even posted on the website! The park is great, the directors and management team are terrible however. She should be removed. They need a true lesson in organization and also respect- the golden rule. They don't care about our community and that is clear now.

McAlpine Creek Park has long been one of my favorite places to bring my small dog and meet up with…read morefriends who also have small dogs. The park itself is beautiful, and the small dog area has been a valuable resource for the community. Unfortunately, my recent experiences have raised serious concerns about safety and irresponsible pet owners. On multiple occasions, people have brought large dogs into the small dog area despite the posted size limits and have refused to leave when concerns were raised. There have also been situations where dogs were clearly out of control, frightening other dogs and upsetting both pets and their owners, while the owners did little or nothing to intervene. What is especially frustrating is that these situations are often met with hostility. Rather than acknowledging that their dog may be too large for the area or behaving inappropriately, some owners become argumentative and confrontational. Today, when I arrived, there was already tension from an earlier incident that I did not witness, with people yelling at each other. One of the more bizarre and disturbing experiences involved a grown woman standing outside the entrance shouting obscenities, barking, and yelling at the dogs through the fence before entering the park. Her behavior was so erratic that another visitor stepped in because she said she was concerned the woman might kick one of the dogs. It is bizarre and difficult to believe that these kinds of incidents continue to happen at a dog park. Most people are there simply to enjoy time with their pets, and if visitors behaved respectfully and managed their animals appropriately, many of these conflicts could be avoided. The vast majority of visitors just want a safe and enjoyable place for their dogs to play. However, the lack of enforcement and responsible ownership has become a serious issue, and after several negative experiences in a short period of time, I no longer feel as safe here as I once did. I hope greater attention is given to enforcing the rules and keeping the small dog area welcoming for everyone.
