But I'll save you that novel & instead express my gratefulness at finding a satisfactory doctor at Portage Hills. Unlike its competitors, the atmosphere is inviting- with a soothing view of the woods & pond, a beautiful stone fireplace & a wrap around porch; this place offers a more home-like environment rather than the typical sterile waiting room. Each room is painted a bold color, & although the walls are a little banged up, it was clean & welcoming. Dr. Jackson is the first doctor I've ever interacted with who truly took her time to listen to me & not instantly jump to the overly prescribed anti-depressants that 98% of doctors clearly get cut backs from. She spent roughly an hour with me & clearly explained what she felt was going on with my body & the course of action she wanted to take. She even provided me with a medical book to view that showed the muscles of the body & revealed to me a f*ck up that Cleveland Clinic failed to inform me of (they NEVER told me I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in 2007!) that could have prevented the issues I'm having now from ever existing. The entire staff there was friendly, you could tell they really care about the overall operation of the practice as they ask you to participate in surveys to make sure proper sanitation techniques are being practiced. If you're fed up with not getting anywhere with your treatment options, I suggest giving Portage Hills a try.

Although I didn't have a huge appetite, I found the food to be good, especially the soups and the bacon they served for breakfast. My room was large and comfortable and I heard very little noise from the hallway. There are huge windows and it felt very welcoming for a hospital room. My room was kept clean and tidy and I had plenty of amenities (wash cloths, toothpaste/toothbrush, lotion, etc.). The pre-op nurse Pam was so nice and made me feel at-ease, even though I was anxious. Nurses on my floor: Chrystle, Melody, and Bryan were all awesome as well as the nursing supervisor Becky who came to check on me several times. Nursing assistant, Liv was beyond sweet and helpful. My surgeon and the residents were all knowledgeable, straightforward, and kind. I felt like this was high quality care and I was kept well-informed of everything. It was convenient having my pharmacy order delivered to my room before being discharged. Great experience at a modern facility.

They make even the most straightforward service unreasonably complicated. You will still be receiving bills from them a year after your visit. Even though your insurer provides you the exact amount you owe, it will never align with any of the CC bills because CC applies any payment to any bill in any amount and any billing date they want. You make a $50 co-pay at the time of one visit but CC spreads it across five different visits in random amounts- $1.83 here, $2.56 there, $14.85 to another one. Avoid obtaining services from CC at all costs. The level of care you receive won't ever be worth it. Akron General used to be great. Corporate greed got the best of them. CC is the worst.

Furthermore, outsourcing billing to aggressive agencies like DCM unnecessarily inflates administrative expenses, which Cleveland Clinic passes onto other patients, driving up healthcare costs for everyone. Using a loophole to target a deceased patient's family before a bill is even past due is very shameful, and it shows that their billing department values aggressive collection tactics over basic human decency.

Their hours are extremely inconvenient, and when I showed up for my appointment, that I made over the phone, (at the Akron/Bath location) AND took off work for, they were closed! I found this location instead because they were open 1 hour later so I could just make it. I would give Quest 1 star, but the only reason I am giving 5 stars is because of my nurse Anitra. She was kind, helpful and actually made the experience pleasant.
