Super late review but this company has repaired our fridge twice now (at no fault of theirs) due to a faulty part which GE is notorious for. The technician was really friendly and took time to explain the issue and went above and beyond to get the part replaced the same day, and gave me tips on how to maintain the fridge moving forward. There was even an unrelated issue that he offered to patch up with foil tape. Really grateful for the big and little things this kind and knowledgeable technician did to make sure we had a functional fridge. Boy I do not like writing a bad review, but this Paul is a real crook! He shows me on his phone the price of $230 for glass for my thermador oven & with the "discount" on his labor it would cost $450. He said while. He was here he could clean the Coils on my built in refrigerator. This took 15 minutes for $175. My husband said to call Thermador & check with them the price seemed too high. Thermador sent me the replacement glass for $60. She said the bill using their service people would be $100 max. Also they seem to use @ least three different names. I was a little leery about this place considering everyone gave them 5 stars. To be fully transparent here I didn't get past the original service call. I needed them to come check our dryer because it, well didn't dry anything lol. It's 59 bucks to come check it out, not including any work, which is fine, but if while here he needs to look at the washer, it's another $59. I'm sorry too expensive just to look at something, obviously if they can fix it I would of let them and pay them, but now they want almost 120 bucks just to come out? I work too hard for my money... My whirlpool washer had been leaking for some time. Finially the washer faiked to unlock and also gave an error for the control system failure. Paul fron iFix came out and after trying all the usual things diagnosed a failed contol board. After replacig the board the washer did morr then before but secondary control board also failed. It looks like the leak shorted both boards. After realizing my washer had multiple issues, including a leak i decided to replace the washer. From the get go, iFix Appliances has been on top of their game. Our fridge stopped cooling overnight and I could hear a click every few minutes from the back of the refrigerator. Some quick research online said it was most likely a compressor issue. I requested a quote for the repair over Yelp and Anna, the business manager, responded thoroughly and quickly. I was impressed with the level of communication as we went back and forth over the messages addressing my questions. She said she could have someone come take a look that very same day and confirmed that they do honor the Yelp discounted voucher. I was given a three hour window of when someone would come and got a call from Paul when he was on the way. Paul was able to diagnose the issue in a matter of minutes and calculated an estimate. Admittedly, I initially gave Paul a hard time over the price as I was taken aback over the cost but to his great credit, he was professional all the while and explained the details of each cost. I decided to go forward with the service as the diagnostic cost ($49) would be applied to the service. Paul took an hour or less to repair the fridge and was neat and professional. He cleaned his work space when he was done and put everything back. When he was done I was able to pay with credit card over the Square app and we were good to go. Let me start by saying that I called about 1:30-2pm on a monday to make an app for a service call, the lady on the phone told me the she can have someone over between 3 and 6pm, Paul the technician arrived around 3:30pm super fast! He was super polite and respectful, he first diagnose the issue the handed me a written estimate and waited for me to get my landlords approve. Hes super patient , efficient and fast! Great experience. I found IFix on Angie's, albeit the company listing is for their Van Nuys location. They have another location in Beverly Hills, closer to my home. I spoke with Olga, the scheduler, and then Anna, the GM. It was difficult to explain the DW door situation. A plastic part that dampened the opening of the door had become dislodged, causing the door to fly open if not careful. Anna spent a lot of time on the phone trying to locate the actual part, e-mailing diagrams of the unit etc. I also described that my washer was making a very loud noise in spin cycle. It was decided that a technician would come to actually see the DW and and what part needed replacing. Mike came two days later. He was punctual, obviously experienced and knowledgeable and soon was able to discover the part needed. As for the washer, he quickly diagnosed a busted bearing. Rather then try to "sell" an expensive repair, it was determined we would be better off replacing the washer. He gave me a total price that included a $20 charge for the washer of $358. The price seemed high, but he explained the labor intensity of replacing the part in the DW. He returned the following day. He virtually had to take apart the DW apart, spending about an hour and a half successfully and methodically completing the repair. As it was now early evening, as he was finishing up, his co technician, Tony, showed up to to help complete the refrigerator maintenance and clean up neatly. Tony, too, was polite and obviously, very capable. We discussed the fact that my central A/C had never had maintenance after almost 7 years. He explained what would be done if we decided to use them for this task. In sum, this was a wonderful contractual experience! I will be recommending IFix to my neighbors at our next Board meeting. read more

I was given a 3-hour window and he called approximately 30 minutes before arrival. It turned out that the washer needed a pump replacement which the tech had in his track. When one of my home appliance decided to call it quits I reached out to my home warranty firm, First American. They connected me with an appliance repair shop called "Active Appliances". Their tech came collected my 60 dollars for the inspection. A repair date was scheduled with approximately a 5 hour window. Four hour thirty minutes into their 5 hour window they call stating the technician's van has broken down. Not ideal but sometimes things happen. Another date was scheduled with a five hour window. Two hours into the time slot I get a call stating that the parts they received were damaged and needs to be re-ordered. Expected time can be anywhere between five to ten business days. Not sure why the tech would not have realized the part was defective on the date his van broke down en route to my house. At this point I am frustrated as I have rearranged my schedule for this firm on two different occasions. I ask to speak to a supervisor and he/she is on a conference call. Defeated I hang up and out of curiosity look up the Yelp reviews of "Active Appliances" and it turns out this firm has a 1 star review out of 300 plus reviews. Scanning through some of the review comments every single excuse (tech's car being broken down, damaged parts, ridiculously long wait periods, and managers on conference call) I was given was experienced by other reviewers. At this point my option was to continue to wait for these clowns to get their act together or to pay out of pocket by going with another firm. I decided to try another firm. iFix Appliance was the first number I tried. They scheduled an appointment for the next day. Their tech, PAUL, arrived as promised and inspected the issue. NEXT DAY he got the required parts and showed up at my place and fixed the issue. He even took care of a few additional concerns. The guy was a consummate professional and was very careful in how he went about his work. Finally, I felt I was dealing with a firm that truly appreciated the business. Their 5 star reviews on Yelp is definitely well deserved and Paul is definitely a big asset to this firm. I am not sure exactly how "Active Appliances" stays in business given their horrible customer service practices. They seem to be the official service provider for a lot of warranty related work. It is almost like some sort of a racket where they come by and collect the 60 bucks for inspection and essentially disappear. If you have nothing better to do than sit around at home waiting for them to get their act together then knock yourself out. If you actually want quality work performed in a timely manner then try another firm such as iFix Appliance. I had to pay for this out of pocket and my warranty with First American is likely not worth the paper it is printed on if they are contracting out work to jokers like "Active Appliances". read more

These guys are great! Paul fixed our Samsung washing machine about a year ago and it's still working perfectly. When my oven broke I didn't know who to call. Mike came back a second time. He brought the parts to fix our fridge. He did a fabulous job. Kitchen Aid knew that this fridge had issues and many a Kitchen Aid repairman couldn't fix the issues. This is an UPDATE to my original review. Anna (the owner) and I had a long phone conversation in which I told her all the issues I had with the labor costs. She explained some of the hidden expenses in running a business like hers (which are not so different than the hidden costs in running any business). I am a new home owner and I'm always looking for a reliable company to fix things around the house. I found this company and had them come out to fix my refrigerator and freezer. The technician called me and told me he would be there in 15 minutes, which was well within their arrival window. He arrived, shook my hand and was very task oriented and very nice. He finished the assessment and told me exactly what was wrong and exactly how much it would cost to fix. Luckily he was able to fix everything while he was there so I didn't have to set up another appointment. So this is a 5-star review, despite the fact that my appliance didn't actually get fixed. Bear with me. Paul came out and tried to fix my wine fridge, which had conked out. Paul was super quick, efficient, knowledgeable and efficient. They told me about the $49 service call fee upfront before booking my appointment and let me know that it would be applied as a credit to my repair price if they were able to do the repair. So Paul replaced some parts, made the repair, and got my fridge working for a bit. But it conked out again. Turns out the problem was, unfortunately, more expensive than was worth fixing. But they tried the cheaper repair, hoping they could salvage my fridge. Paul came back out to check out what went wrong (they have a warranty on parts and labor), and let me know that unfortunately the repair would be more than the fridge was worth and not to waste the money. Super honest and straightforward. He then told me that because the original repair hadn't worked (through no real fault of the company), they'd issue a credit back to my credit card for the cost of the repair minus the original $49 service call fee. I happened to check my credit card statement today, and, sure enough, $91 credit there. Didn't have to follow up, ask, or push for anything. They made the process as easy and transparent as possible. The fact that my appliance wasn't actually repaired and I'm still thrilled with the experience speaks volumes about this company. Really appreciate the way they operate and the integrity with which they operate. No doubt in my mind who I'm calling the next time I need an appliance repaired. read more

Excellent service! My Kenmore washer had a broken drain pump, we called and luckily there was a technician in the area who came over in the time window we discussed with the dispatcher. The same serviceman returned the next day with the new drain pump, hooked it up, and now our washer works better than ever! Total fixing time for both days was under 1 hour. May 2017 the refrigerator stopped getting cold so we called these guys out. Charged $366.51 to clean out the system and replace a part which seemed to work for a bit but about 10 days later it stopped working again and they came out again for another $320 (but gave a $100 discount for a net of $220) to replace a different part and put more freon in. This worked until a few weeks ago when the whole system stopped cooling again. Rather than pay almost $600 in repair costs that wouldn't even last a year we just bought another refrigerator. Their work warranty is 90 days. I would never use these guys again as they don't seem to know how to fix anything correctly the first time or for a long time. read more

Moved to a new house and during the move, my dryer broke, the washer was not properly installed, and the two units were not stacked. With a big family, not having a working washer/dryer is challenging to say the least. I had a previous great experience with iFix Appliances for a rental property I had and they did fantastic. This time, I was able to quickly schedule a repair person, Mike, to come in and look at my washer/dryer. He ordered some new parts and kept me aware of what was happening the entire time. He gave me his cell number and was very responsive. He and Bruce came in to fix the dryer, installed my washer, stacked the two units, and cleaned up afterwards. Hired them to fix our ice maker in our refrigerator seemed simple enough except the next day both the fridge and freezer stopped working on a fridge that was only 4 years old. Instead of waiting for the manufacture warranty, claims and parts to be ordered decided to hire them again. Poor customer service along with extremely curt technicians who act as if HVAC training is as common as home economics and speak in a they are doing you a favor by even being inside your house. Three trips and over $1200 later freezer and fridge seem back to normal while another company has been contacted to actually fix the ice maker as well as review the work done to see if we weren't taken to the bank without valid reason.
