I liked that it had lots of independent stores and not just chains. That being said, most of the stores were not really my style (i.e. cheaply made clothes, costume jewelry, gift items, etc.), but it was still fun to walk around a mall I had never been to before, even though I walked away empty-handed. There was this one store called Vase Caravan and it was such an unusual little store. It had lots of Buddha statues and also lots of Jesus statues for sale! They also sold instant noodles. It was a really weird and random kind of store. I secretly like weird though, lol. The anchor stores are The Bay, The Brick, Bureau en Gros (aka Staples), Best Buy and Ares. The food court is pretty small, but there's a pretty fish aquarium at the centre. There's also a Chinese buffet (Buffet Fu Lam) in the mall. This mall has free WiFi and you don't have to log on through Facebook or Twitter or give them your email address (like some places). Definitely not a destination shopping mall, but not too bad.

The selection of clothing is unique, prices after conversion to American dollar is great . When here I always like to check out their items for the home too. Last time I was here I bought a door mat with three cats on it. Now this has become a favorite with my cats. This time i found a table runner for my mom, which I'm sure she is going to love since it has all these fancy chickens on it! By the way the prices on these items were great even before the conversion! The store is very spacious, the use of the space is great. I like how when you are on the second floor one can look down and see almost the entire store. Great if you need to spot your shopping companion. They also have wifi, which is a great added bonus when traveling.

Let's start off with what I feel about Centropolis. I'm pretty MEH about it…read more Don't get me wrong, I certainly like the concept of Centropolis but the design of this place is atrocious. There are a lot of options for you to go shop at, to go eat at or even watch a movie in Laval's biggest movie theater.... but going there is certainly a pain. The parking, particularly at specific times of the week can be very annoying. There's simply not enough of it. Driving around is a pain as well as the design of the streets forces you to swerve everywhere with no direct straight access points that make you randomly find yourself staring at the end of the parking lot because they decided to break the street off, forcing you to make several detours to get around it to end up where you wanted to be. Lastly, there are a lot of options to go eat at and that certainly can be pretty exciting but honestly the quality of the food that come from, mostly franchises, isn't all that great.

The Long Version: I love discount stores and dollar stores, so I had to pop into Magi-Prix during my latest trip to Laval. It has a dollar store feel, but items are more than a dollar (although even stores that call themselves dollar stores these days rarely have anything that's only a dollar anymore. Most things are more than a dollar). They have furniture and I actually saw a few cool pieces, but nothing that I really needed. I was most impressed by their food section. They had lots of imported goods. They had teas from Germany, cookies from France and chips from France too. I ended up buying 2 boxes of tea from Sri Lanka. One was a green tea with soursop and banana flavours. I've never seen this flavour combination and admittedly it sounds strange, but more the reason to get it, right? Lol. The other was a black tea with ginger. It's rare to find a black tea with just ginger flavour. Many add lemon and honey. And some add lemongrass and/or licorice. So I was thrilled to find a plain tea and ginger. I was eyeing the Brets chips. They were $4.50 each, and had lots of unusual flavours, but I didn't find a flavour I had to try. This Walmart is HUUUGE! It's also a grocery store with some really competitive prices across the…read moreboard. Heck, there's even a Tim Horton's inside of this place. It's like the Canadian dream! You can easily lose yourself in this place and there's a lot of things you can buy on the cheap. My only gripe with this Walmart is the overabundance of staff walking around yet so many displays can be empty. For example, I wanted to buy some batteries and when shown where it was by a member of the staff we both noticed the entire section for it was nearly empty except for a few select batteries I didn't need.

They have everything they sell at the American walmarts plus more. The main reason I shop here is for the Canadian exclusive items which are mostly food products. For example, they sell vegetarian gelatin-free Kellogg's Rice Krispies treats and vanilla Rice Krispies cereal. My favorite aisle to spend time at is the candy aisle. I love stocking up on all the unique Canadian kit kat flavors and coffee crisp. I never leave this Walmart without spending at least $30. Best of all, they have self check out.

She is truly a natural and I would consider going back to that store. Everyone else didn't seem too quick to help me but sarah?! she was enthuastic and as soon as she saw me she wanted to help. I believe she was running the cash register and the fitting rooms so she did a great job delegating.

What a strange and rundown little mall. So there's an actual mall part to Les Galeries Laval and…read morethen there are free standing stores that you cannot access through the mall, but only from outside. The actual mall part is sad. Lots of empty spaces. Mostly independent stores that look like they are struggling. There's a lottery and gaming place in the mall where you can bet on horses and play video lottery terminals. There's also a place to exchange money and oddly it had lineups out the door. There are also some government offices in this mall (Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec). Probably the coolest thing was the Jungle Adventure Gym for kids next to the food court. The food court was tiny (2 vendors). The free standing stores were much cooler. They have a Magi-Prix which is essentially a Dollar Store that also sells party supplies. There's an Archambault, which is like a Chapters/Indigo except they also sell musical instruments and sheet music. The Aubanerie there is quite big (it's a clothing store. I'd say comparable in style and quality to Dynamite, Garage, Suzy Shier, etc. They had lots of brands I never heard of before. The only brand I recognized was Vero Moda). I'd say it's more a mall for locals to run errands or when they are looking for specific things (like I don't know, maybe sheet music to "Moon River" or a "Happy 50th Birthday Banner"), it's definitely not a destination shopping mall! I like coming to Canadian tire to stock up on extra wipers for the cars, washer fluids and cleaning products to keep my car in tip top shape. The prices can either be a bargain or a rip-off, so always make sure you check prices out online with competitors before making your way into Canadian Tire. The line-ups at the cashes on the weekends are ridiculous and a must avoid unless you like waiting 15+ minutes to pay for a few things. Either hit this place during the week or come real early in the morning on the weekends.

Mon rendez-vous, pris plusieurs jours à l'avance, a été reporté quelques heures après l'heure prévue. La fenêtre donnant vue sur le garage m'a permis de voir mon véhicule sur le pont, clés dans le contact -- ce qui a complètement vidé la batterie. En preuve : le mécanicien a dû booster mon véhicule pour le sortir et le stationner. Et au moment de régler la facture (130 $ pour une simple réparation d'un pneu crevé), ma voiture ne démarrait déjà plus. J'ai dû demander à la personne à l'accueil de faire venir le mécanicien pour la redémarrer, mais depuis, mon véhicule ne démarre plus sans booster, alors qu'il fonctionnait parfaitement depuis des années. Sur le coup, je n'avais pas mesuré l'impact, mais même mon téléphone essayait de se connecter au véhicule pendant le service -- preuve que le contact était allumé pendant un bon moment. Ce garage fait preuve d'une mauvaise foi flagrante et ne montre aucune considération pour sa clientèle. Si une erreur est commise par un employé, surtout une erreur qui peut endommager un véhicule, elle devrait au minimum être communiquée au client.
