Dear Yelpers, I got a winter ice or ginger spice salt scrub with vichy shower from this place via groupon as a birthday treat. However, this location is in North Beach, it is unsanitary, has old/inferior facilities, and I am struggling to find something positive about my experience. When I booked my appointment over a month in advance, I was told I could be squeezed into the schedule. Today, as I was driving to the service, I hit traffic on 95 forty minutes prior to my appointment time, so I called. I was told that tardiness was an issue as all the other client's appointments would be delayed (seemed reasonable). I arrived 2 minutes late. The only persons in the place was the massage therapist (possibly manager or owner whose license was visible) and another lady. No customers. Not one. This location has hair salon up front and stations for nail and pedicures. No station was occupied. Generally when you are having any spa service, there is a discussion. For example I have Lupus and sensitive skin. I have a very visible butterfly rash on my face as evidence. Also, my purchase involved a choice - winter ice or ginger spice. I was instructed to change into disposable underwear by the massage therapist. The other lady came in to do the service - she spoke NO ENGLISH and there was no discussion. I thought she wanted me to get on the massage table covered in blue CONSTRUCTION TARPAULIN (tarp). The massage therapist yelled from the salon section that I was to stand. The other lady (like 60 maybe) then roughly BRUSHED my skin with a bath brush - ow. Then I got on the tarp covered table and the lady started to apply a salt scrub that was neither winter ice nor ginger spice, sigh..... and no english. She then wrapped me in the tarp and wrapped the tarp in a scratchy blanket. By this time my skin was burning and I called out to the massage therapist to ask if it could be washed off. I was given a robe and some old cracked slippers to walk down the hall (visable from Collins Ave) to the vichy shower. A vichy shower is supposed to aim the heads at your chackras. Generally, you enter a warm room, you are drenched in water as warm as you like, a scrub is applied on the shower table, you are covered with heated towels, and then the vichy shower is turned on for 30 minutes giving u a water massage. The water is still going as the towels are removed dissolving the salt as the therapist massages oil into you. That was NOT what happened here obviously. This makeshift vichy shower was in a corridor with a shower curtain dividing it from the rest of the space. The ambient air was COLD. The massage therapist turned on a shower wand and rinsed off the salt and then turned on the vichy shower where the heads were angled crookedly. DRIPS OF WARM WATER IN COLD ROOM STILL EQUAL COLD. I was shivering. It was about 2 minutes. That was it. She then gave me an old bleach stained towel and tried to get me to put back on the salt scrub filled robe so I could walk back to the room that had the tarp covered massage table. I consented to wrapping myself with the robe over the towel but insisted that I would not put my arms back through as it would re-apply the salt scrub that had already burned my skin. She sharply told me that is why I she gave me the towel! Huh??? How can u wrap a single towel around your arms and body and then put on a robe? Returning to the other room it was now set up to give a massage. I noticed there were long black hairs on the linens. I was asked to dry off and lay face down. I picked off the hairs and suppressed my inner germaphobe. The other lady came back to apply lotion. Then it was done. I dressed, took some pictures of the room because it was just soooooooo dingy, and walked out to the front desk where the massage therapist was once again sitting. She immediately acosted me for not telling her that I was allergic to her salt scrub. WTF???!? I asked her why I was not asked which option I wanted as clearly I had neither Ginger Spice nor Winter Ice as I had purchased. She reaponded, you had lavender! Wait what? Okay, so how do I get the *#$!+ out of here? I need a shower. FYI... STILL NOT A SINGLE CUSTOMER OTHER THAN ME IN THE PLACE.... go figure! Just gross place. See pictures. Avoid at all costs!!!

They also do cuts & blow-drys.

My fiancé had a terrible experience here that ended up costing over $2,000, left her hair damaged, and required her to go elsewhere to fix the mess. The stylist came across as extremely confident and even criticized her usual stylist, claiming she was overcharging and using the wrong technique. He insisted on cutting her extensions (which were only a month old and in perfect condition) and then improperly installed them, leaving beads loose and uneven. She had to return the next day to have them fixed, only for him to cut more of her extensions and still do a terrible job. Instead of making things right, he charged her an additional $700 for the second visit and then had the audacity to suggest she could buy new extensions from him at a discount. To make matters worse, the extensions were so poorly placed that she couldn't sleep comfortably, and when she reached out for help, he was dismissive and unresponsive. He also pushed unnecessary products, claiming her hair would "turn orange" without them. After speaking with others, we found out that this stylist has a reputation for preying on out-of-town visitors, overcharging, and providing subpar work that needs to be fixed elsewhere. The St. Regis is an incredible hotel, but this salon does NOT reflect its standards. Avoid Oren Salon if you care about your hair, your money, and your sanity. #ExtensionsFail #ScamAlert #StRegisBalHarbour #SalonWarning

I have fine moderately wavy blonde hair…read more After moving to Miami from NYC, I have been struggling with frizzy waves which I wanted help smoothing and calming. Oren assured me that the keratin treatment would be perfect for me and would help smooth, straighten, and revive my hair. I came in for the treatment with Shak. The only thing the treatment did was make my hair limp and knock out my color. It looked even more damaged and frizzy then before. Shak convinced me that I needed a cut in order to make it look fuller and more even which I fell for as I was going into a state of worry. He then gave me a long haired mullet. I was extremely distressed about the end result and just left before I became more frazzled. When I had keratin in the past my hair felt smooth and silky. It also required less air dry time and styling. My hair after their treatment dried frizzy, stringy and dull. I texted the salon a few days later with pictures of my hair explaining how my hair did not come out as promised. Laura asked me to come back in so that Oren could examine my hair. She assured me that they would take care of the issue. The feedback I received from Oren was that the keratin treatment was not right for my "damaged hair". I'd like to point out that my consult was with him and he was the one that told me how beneficial the keratin treatment would be for me. Then, his solution was to give me another keratin treatment. First he tells me it's the best treatment then he says it's not the right one and then he says that's the solution. Why would I do another keratin treatment when the first completely destroyed my hair? It was not only a waste of $450 but now I had to pay for new highlights and a cut to bring my hair back to some kind of life. Super disappointing. The entire experience. My hair certainly doesn't look like all the videos the salon posts on Instagram. I'm not sure those are all real videos and photos of clients as I'm not are all these reviews are real. Perhaps some clients have had good experiences here. I just want to warn those out there reading these reviews about my own experience. I have attached phots of what my hair looked like immediately following the treatment. Beware of receiving a keratin treatment here. Complete waste of $450 plus hundreds of dollars in repair.

For a cut (I have long layers) I used Christina who listened to what I wanted during a consultation and then executed it perfectly! I highly recommend these two! I was given a robe immediately and told to sit to wait for Jack, whom I scheduled an appointment with. I waited about 25 minutes. My situation - not ideal. I messed up my hair trying to give myself a butterfly cut and needed a repair while on vacation. Before, I had hair reaching mid back but things ended up choppy. The only thing working for me was my side swept bangs. I told Jack about my hair, thick, tends towards frizz and waves (Latina hair). I showed him pictures of what I want my hair to look like considering that I got rid of a lot of my length. I was clear that I loved my bangs and that didn't need to be fixed. The haircutting experience: Jack was so nice and super friendly. In the end, he did a pretty good job fixing the back of my hair, however, my bangs now make me look like Cruella Deville. It'll take months for them to grow out to the way I had it before.
