A reptile-lovers dream! Stopped in on April 14th and was blown away by how nice everything and everyone was. Joe was our tour guide and he made the experience so much better than we ever thought it could be. We got to interact with quite a few animals and learned so much from him too. After Joe took us around we walked around ourselves and there was still so many different animals to see. Would recommend getting a tour guide so you can interact with more animals, but it's definitely not necessary. There's quite a variety of well-kept reptiles (we were blown away with how well-taken care of each and every enclosure and animal was), so you'll want to make sure you have at least 2-3 hours to walk around and see everything and still have time to browse the gift shop after. read more

Another great find in Punta Gorda! What a fun place for adults and kiddos. There are so many different iguanas, snakes and turtles to see. The size of this place and abundance of reptiles is very impressive. Staff is welcoming and friendly. Zoo keepers are very approachable and are happy to answer any questions or offer additional information about their inhabitants. There is a small gift shop and a few snack options but no formal cafe so it's a good idea to pack some water and snacks for the kids if you're planning to go out for lunch in the area. We visited Iguanaland earlier this week. We had ages ranging from 14-70 and everyone had a great time. A highlight was feeding the tortoises cactus leaves. Most of us are from the PNW so it got a little hot for us and we left before we'd seen everything. We were there 2 hours and I think easily could have spent another 1-2 hours there. Staff was very friendly. There are picnic tables under cover and you're allowed to bring food/drinks. read more

Another successful trip to Iguanaland in the books. My previous trip took me though a monsoon essentially, but my latest experience had gorgeous weather and incredibly friendly staff. Since my last visit, massive expansions to the facility have been seen through, including outdoors areas for snakes, additional iguana enclosures, as well as a few large areas for Sulcata and Galapagos tortoises. The rest of the enclosures are incredibly well kept up, animals very sociable and happy, and the overall grounds being absolutely beautiful. There is currently ongoing construction on additional larger faux-rock enclosures, and it's incredible to see the process in making these. While only my father and myself went in the main facility, my mom, aunt, and grandmother stayed behind at the car. Deciding to walk around the gift shop, they were approached by whom I believe was the owner's wife, excited to show off the facility to my family and even give away some extra plants from the greenhouse that was wrecked during the last hurricane. She even took them to show how good for the reptiles is prepared, as well as showcasing a few herptiles to the bunch. This is exactly the kind of incredible hospitality I have come to life out of a family run facility like Iguanaland. Staff members are happy to greet you, welcome you in, show off certain species and even just make conversation. It's incredible! They have some of the coolest species here I'd you're looking for rarities as well. From my knowledge, I believe they are one of the only public holders of Lesser Antilles Iguana in the United States, pictured below. In addition to that, they have impressive species from Veiled Chameleons, Perenties, Cuban False Chameleons, and even Nile Softshell Turtle. The list goes on! It's so impressive to see how well a species dedicated to reptiles can garner such applause. As I typically focus on mainly zoo's in my travels, this facility stands out as one of my all time favorites. I hope Ty Park and his team are able to further expand this facility to lengths beyond where they are now. I highly recommend taking a VIP tour. We had Joe for thee and a half hours he gave us a tour of their facilities. He took out many reptiles and let our boys pet them. He educated us on each reptile and was very knowledgable! He was very patient with our four year old who must have asked him 100 questions. The boys loved it!! The grounds were very clean and the animals well loved. The owners were there and super friendly as well. Five stars!!! read more

Iguanaland was so much better than I even expected! The place is huge and had a wide variety of reptiles. They also have a covered area where you can eat snacks you brought. It's also nice they allow you to bring food and drinks in. And on top of that, they have umbrellas, sunscreen and bug spray out for anyone to use. We had so much fun checking out all the turtles and iguanas! Highly recommend! There was a hurricane the first time we went, and they gave us a rain check to come back. One of the animal caretakers opened up the cage and let us see it out of the cage up close and also we got to see a lot of the larger reptiles being fed. So cool! read more

Excellent attraction for kids, families and groups. Iguanaland just out Punta Gorda is huge, very entertaining and is a good value. Lots and lots of reptiles, turtles, koi fish pond (you can feed them), and friendly staff to answer questions. You can even meet some of the reptiles up close. Dexter the monitor was a great treat. Free parking, clean bathrooms, gift store, this is a well kept secret and will gain in popularity as the word gets out. Walking the grounds you see lots and lots of animals, unique reptiles, snakes and more rare species. The huge tortoises are very cool. Plan for 1 1/2- 2hours, and bring the crew. read more

AMAZINGLY WONDERFUL!!! Anna hands down is the Absolute Best!!! I can't even begin with how incredible this experience was. Animal encounters: Our encounter started off by us walking up as Anna and another male staff member(sorry forgot his name but he was very nice and knowledgeable) were caring for the snakes. They saw how interested my son was in it and asked if he wanted to touch the snake. They grabbed out the black Florida rat snake. We spent the next several minutes petting the snake and asking every question we could think of and got every question answered in great detail. As it was almost time for our actual encounter to begin, Anna took it upon herself to put down what she was doing and continue on with our encounter as she felt thru the few minutes we had spent together that she knew exactly which animals we'd be interested in seeing. She brought us right into see Sassy Frass a different type of snake with a totally different look, feel to it's scales and attitude. It was amazing the first snake was very docile where as Sassy Frass hissed at us, changed her body shape, pretend to bite, but with her mouth closed. It was really impressive! Anna made us feel safe and comfortable the entire time, explaining everything that was happening with her, why she behaved the way she did and really keeping control of Sassafras the entire time. She brought a hand sized bumpy scaled lizard next (don't remember the name) he was very friendly and active. Our last animal that we got to "experience" was a massive iguana. He was the coolest, friendliest, dog-sized body, iguana I've ever seen. We actually went into his cage to hangout with him. He came in as someone's surrendered pet and he's again living his best life, he's about to be a dad with his Mrs. He has sorry soft skin yet his body is firm like I imagine a rhino would be lol. Weather when I went: Ridiculously hot/humid and more overcast than sunny which apparently is the best time for all the animals if you want to see them be active. Tip: BRING Water/ drinks and a lot of it. Bring portable fans, spray bottles, just anything you need to keep yourself cool and hydrated. It's very humid and no wind. You can bring your own food and eat in the covered area. Atmosphere: The owners and all the staff were extremely friendly. We went on a day that there were only 4 other people total within the 2 hours we were there (one woman was there to walk thru as her exercise while enjoying all the reptiles). The friendly guys that work there came up to us multiple times while we were looking around and really got us engaged into both what we were looking at and excited to see the parts we hadn't yet seen. Background from what I've gathered: They've been doing animal rescue for 15 years now and had a plan to open to the public in 2020 but obviously wasn't able to do so. They are building up as they go and as they have the funds to do so. It's huge now, don't get me wrong but if they had the funding this place would be ranked #1 everywhere. You can see kind of what their vision is and how they're building towards that vision as you walk around. I would 100% recommend this place with the animal encounter to everyone. You're missing out on so much if you come here and don't do the animal encounter. read more

If you're on the fence - GO! Iguana Land was awesome. It's huge, there are 250+ species of reptiles, they work with other zoos across the country to help endangered species, and it is *not* a roadside zoo. If you can, definitely reserve an "animal encounter." It's an extra cost, but really worth it. My group learned a lot about reptiles, got to get up close and personal with 5 different animals and had a blast. read more

I really enjoyed Iguanaland, more than I was expecting! My parents, who live in FL, and I were looking for something different to do during my visit and I thought this would be interesting but maybe a little hokey. Boy was I wrong. They have a hinge variety of snakes, turtles and iguanas and we looked at every single enclosure. There is also a beautiful koi pond which we liked, you can even feed the koi. The staff was friendly and helpful, and let us meet and let one of the large iguanas which added an extra fun element. They had some great signage up so we actually learned something and they are working to breed endangered species so I liked the conservation aspect as well. IguanaLand is a must go if you are in Florida. I highly recommend the VIP tour. You not only get the behind the scenes tour but detailed information as well as a once in a lifetime experience. What a great day! Our family, which consisted of my grandchildren - 9 year old girl, a 7 year boy - their mom, my sister, my husband and myself did a private tour with Anna as our guide. Anna is extremely knowledgeable, loves her job and easily communicated with us. She was able to speak about all the reptiles at a level we all understood. She put the nonreptile lovers at ease but kept them engaged. There are many opportunities for interactions with the reptiles. The facility is clean, the reptiles are very well cared for.
