It's a small zoo, but very well kept. The staff were nice and friendly. I saw several animals I've never seen before.

The 43-acre Naples Zoo was formally a historic botanical garden with many exotic specimen trees from all over the world. There is an abundance of foliage, shrubs, flowers and shaddy trees to take cover under. Over the years they have added several lakes and winding pathways that have water fountains and benches. You will encounter many birds and ducks as you take your stroll through the Zoo. Naples Zoo is just large enough for toddlers to casually walk around without getting too tired. You are permitted to bring your personal stroller/ wagon and lunch, snacks and beverages. I highly recommend you do, the cost to rent their wagon is at least $16.00. Rip off that I was a victim of once. Foolish me! Lol There is also a spacious outdoor picnic area with tables to comfortably eat your lunch. Included in your general admission is the 20 minute catamaran Primate Expedition Cruise around Lake Victoria. During the tour you are required to remain seated and no food allowed. The boat slowly cruises around the small islands throughout the lake for spectators to observed the different species of monkeys. I wish their was a very large monkey enclosure for families to enjoy without taking the catamaran ride. Not all children want to sit motionless on a boat. I was relieved that Hudson said " no boat grandma" when I asked him if he wanted to see the monkeys on our 2nd visit to the Zoo. During our visit we were pleased to see flamingos, alligators, tigers, lions, cheetahs and Athena , a Florida panther. Athena was found after being abandoned by her mother. After several attempts to reunite with her mother had failed, she was brought to the Naples Zoo at one month old. A sad story with a happy ending. I was looking forward to visiting the honey badgers and bear but that didn't work out because they were sleeping out of sight. Hudson gets such a kick out of the giant graceful giraffes. You may feed them if you purchase their food. I do enjoy visiting this Zoo with my precious Hudson but we seem to drop by on the hot and humid days when most animals are too hot and exhausted to mingle. Winter would probably be the best time to visit. Maybe the 3rd time will be the charm. At the Zoo exit there is a wonderful and safe playground that is fenced and gated. Little Cafe too. Enjoy a cup of coffee while watching the children play. BEWARE of the astronomically overpriced gift shop , they try to get you going in and leaving. I was spared by bribing Hudson with ice cream! To each his own, enjoy, smile and have a great time! 2024 prices: Adult (13-64) $26.95 Child (3-12) $17.95 Infant (2 or under) Free Senior (65+) $25.95

Great little zoo for families, especially with small children! The Zoo is very walkable, however there are strollers and wagons available for rent.

We really enjoyed seeing the Tiger. He was up and about! We also saw the cheetah, panther and lion, but they were all resting. I would recommend going on a cool day or early in the morning as the animals were more active. But, there are a lot of nice, shady benches all along the way. Definitely worth a few bucks to feed the giraffes!

All I can say is honey badger! Those honey badgers are some of the cutest creatures I have ever laid eyes on. My 3 and 1/2 year old niece would definitely agree. She was throughly engrossed in watching them run in circles for a good 30 minutes. I also loved the beautiful tiger, the ant eater and feeding the exquisite giraffe. No, I do not agree with locking wild animals in cages, but their enclosures were super clean and spacious. We had a wonderful time and will be back!

Great zoo especially for younger kids. It's just the right size without being overwhelming. They also have some interesting animals that are pretty unique to their zoo. They have my personal favorite- rye honey badger! The new orangutans inclosure is also complete and open so go check them out. You can feed the giraffes which is a fun thing to do and get a nice family photo while you're at it. One of my favorite things about this zoo is the boat tour around the islands where different species of monkeys live and roam free. It's great to see them freely run around and interact with each other. There is a nice playground by the cafe where kids can go nuts while you sip on an iced coffee and relax in the shade. The only thing I'm not crazy about is that you have to exit through the gift shop. I understand they're trying to make extra money for the zoo but it is a little frustrating having to deal with a kid who wants to buy yet another toy and you telling them no which can add in tears after you had a nice day at the zoo.

It had been several years since our last visit to the Naples Zoo, so my dad and Nate and I went while in the area recently. Admission was $23 for adults, $22 for seniors. I think that's pretty decent for this sized zoo. It's not huge, but they have some really cool animals that we don't have at our local zoo, like the clouded leopard, honey badger, giraffes, and of course alligators. We went in the later afternoon so many of the animals were sleeping, but it was still fun to see them. Nate participated in the giraffe feeding - it's $5 for a small clump of lettuce/leaves. They did tell us that if the giraffe didn't come up to us, they would give us a refund. Luckily there was one really hungry giraffe! They have a photographer taking pictures that you can buy for like $10 per photo, but you are also allowed to have someone take photos with a phone for free, which I did. We got to experience some of the scheduled activities like meet the keeper and the alligator feeding. Those were interesting and worth it if you can make it during the scheduled times, which are posted at the front with the big map. There are a couple of concession stands throughout the park for snacks and drinks, and a larger food stand at the entrance that is next to a big shaded pavilion with picnic tables. You can bring in food but not alcohol, but they do sell beer. The gift shop is cute and we got a sticker and some postcards. Overall this zoo is one of the better small zoos I've visited. They are doing some expansions which is exciting to see. It's not a spot I need to go every time I'm in the area, but it's a nice activity for a morning.

Are there scooters for handicapped people to rent?

I do not believe there are scooters and the zoo is not very wheelchair accessible either. Most of the pathways are loose gravel and a bit difficult to traverse under the best circumstances.

We took our time wandering the pathways, admiring the beautiful habitats thoughtfully designed for each species. There's a strong focus on birds, and the variety here is impressive -- vibrant parrots, graceful flamingos, and so many unique feathered residents. Just as we made it to the final exhibit with the crocodiles, an announcement came over the speakers warning of lightning in the area. Guests were directed back to the gift shop for safety, and the staff began offering rain checks or refunds depending on when you arrived. We didn't inquire about either, though -- we had already thoroughly enjoyed our time there, and since the Wonder Gardens is a nonprofit organization, we were happy to support them regardless. Before leaving, we browsed the gift shop, which had a fantastic selection of animal-themed souvenirs, cute décor, and even artwork created by the resident animals -- such a unique touch. If you're in the area, Wonder Gardens is absolutely worth a stop. It's charming, educational, and your admission supports ongoing rescue and rehabilitation efforts. If you're interested in getting even closer to the animals, they also offer scheduled animal encounters, so be sure to check ahead for times.

My caveat is, perhaps, to call the Sanctuary and see how dry it is? When we visited, there was no "swamp" to be seen for much of it, and I've been many times so I knew where the water was supposed to be but because of the drought - nope. This made about 75% of the boardwalk walk very boring for my kids as there really were no animals to see. It was only when you get to the lettuce lake area that we spotted a few alligators. I was not happy that we drove an hour for my kids to not see much and be bored (and frankly, so was I).
