Personally I am not a fan of chain restaurants so I don't go to IHOP very often. My friend and I were traveling during thanksgiving and we found this one was open! Food - good! We tried the green pancake and loved it! The omelette was also tasty. Service - A bit slow, but understandable since it was thanksgiving and there were not enough people working compared to usual. I'm usually not one for chain restaurants, but nothing in Carlsbad was open for memorial day besides IHOP. Service - Despite it being super busy, the wait wasn't very long and the server was very attentive. Food - IHOP has always been fairly solid for me and this place did not disappoint! I had a crepe combo while my boyfriend had the french toast combo. We chose the least sweet of the options and were pleasently surprised and well done everything was including the egg and hashbrowns. Overall, if you're in town and looking for local food but everything's closed, IHOP isn't too bad of a place to stop by. read more

Employees take a bit long to get to your table, take your order and check in on you from time to time. So be prepared to wait, but overall the food is the same. French toast was pretty good. After a long day , wanted something clean to eat , we walked in to the restaurant and the Manager from another facility came out and greeted us apologizing due to all employees and managers not showing up , he clearly could see we worked all day , he went back and cooked for us and made sure everything was ok , what a great gesture. I want to start by saying that I normally LOVE Ihop. We are in Carlsbad, NM. My husband ordered.from the website to do Curbside Pickup. He gets to the restaurant and for 10 minutes, the phone is busy. He gets out, goes INSIDE and after checking the order, hands it BACK to the young man, shows him the receipt, which MATCHES our e-receipt. The young worker takes the bags back. He's gone for 5 minutes or so & comes back to the counter. ASSUMING they corrected the order, my husband leaves, drives BACK TO THE HOTEL. As we begin to unpack the food, not only had the order not been corrected, NOW we are ALSO missing food!!!!! My hash browns & my niece's French Toast aren't there. There's Toast that noone ordered, & I have sausage (that I can't eat) instead of bacon!!!!!! I try to call, intending to ask them to use door dash & send the missing food. As I'm steadily getting a BUSY SIGNAL AGAIN, Mike realizes that the food we did get is Ice Cold. WE are moving cross country. He has to go back to iHop because noone will answer the phone pulling a UHaul trailer!!!! Now it's nearly 10 p.m., None of us have eaten after driving 10 hours today. I'd also like to.point out...they were NOT Busy. This is utterly ridiculous!!!! I sincerely hope that corporate and/or the franchisee reads this. I'd love a call at 480-321-6668. Facility is Mismanaged! This restaurant is located in a town whose majority residents are of the oil and gas industry. With that being said, the industry gets an earlier start than does the majority of other businesses and occupants in the area. The restaurant has 24 hrs posted on it, but fails to be open from late evening until mid morning. This facility is missing out on a lot of potential revenue. They also charge for every add item. I asked for a some onions in my hash browns and it was an added $.99. Another patron asked for some mayo and it as well was an added $.99. The Host or Hostess stays in the back visiting or helping out, I'm not really sure of which. But there's always a wait before they come out from around the corner. The waitress staff is hit or miss, some are nice others are not so much. Bottom line is this facility could potentially be so much more to this community if they would change management team and staff up with added waitstaff. read more

Save yourself! Go to the store buy some doughnuts. If you do that. You wont have to wait an hour to be seated, wait another half hour for your oder to be taken, wait another 15 min for silverware after your food arrives and some unknown wait for the bill. I really can't give a true review because we didn't actually get to eat. Upon arriving for breakfast, and after waiting too long for a hostess to greet us, we were told the one and only cook never showed up. This chain is too big for that to happen. We went in and saw all kinds of signs saying they were short staffed. However, we were seated in less than 5 minutes. There were like 2 ladies holding it down, the place wasn't packed but definitely alot for 2 workers to handle alone. Yet they did! We got our food shortly after ordering, and the hostess/waitress/server was very nice and helpful. The food was really good, I was worried when I read the reviews beforehand, but I did not experience anything worthy of leaving a negative review. This places sucks. Go anywhere else. We went around 2pm. Only a handful of customers there but still waited to get a seat. The place was DISGUSTING. Almost all of the empty tables were covered with dirty dishes and the floor was covered with food. The waitress was pleasant but slow and distracted (stoned?). I gave them five stars just because they try so hard. It's hard to get help here in boom town. About a third of the tables were empty yet people were waiting to be seated. The manager kindly explained he wouldn't sit more than the wait staff could handle at a time. And that wait staff was attentive and pleasant instead of frazzled. Food was.....IHOP.....standard IHOP breakfast. We left a good tip for a gracious grateful waitress. In a town not known for good service we were very surprised. I love IHOP. I always order the same thing: Colorado omelettes with Tres Leches pancakes or Cinnamon pancakes. Every IHOP I've been to, quick, easy, and tasty. This is the very first and only IHOP I ever walked out from. They made me wait 30 minutes after I already sat on a table and nothing. No good. No service. No follow up. No, "Hey, how you doing? Sorry for the wait." Nothing. After 30 minutes, waiter finally comes up to me and says, "Sorry for the wait. You'll have to wait a little longer." What?! The place wasn't even full. It wasn't even half full. I've seen IHOP stacked and I get attended quicker than this. Oh yeah, as soon as I sat down of course the waiter did take my order. I ordered HOT chocolate milk and I get iced chocolate milk. On top of that, the glass reeked of fried/scrambled eggs. I'm so mad. Never ever had I such a horrible experience in IHOP before! Unbelievable! And to top off the insult, it was so nerve racking to see everyone, and I mean everyone being attended at least 2-3x, and everyone got their food but me. I'm a quiet guy, mild mannered. It was unreal, and the waiter's excuse was "I'm sorry, but we are piled with To-Go orders." What the hell am I? Chop liver? Their priorities are all out of whack, and it doesn't help they move slow. Never had water refilled except once by someone who wasn't our waitress. Chicken tenders were rock hard. Not very clean feeling.

We were skeptical about eating at this location after reading the reviews, but there aren't many options in this town. We were pleasantly surprised! It was slammin' busy at 11:30 on a Sunday morning, but they got us seated in about 15 minutes. The waitress(Erika) was incredibly attentive and friendly. Our food arrived in a timely manner and was delicious. The manager rang us up as we were leaving and inquired about our experience, making sure we were satisfied with the food and service. The reason for 4 stars is because the restaurant was a little dirty. They didn't seem to have any bussers at all, which is necessary on a busy weekend morning. This place is awful. There were about 2 other people in the whole restaurant, so we were seated immediately and they took our orders soon after. Drinks came out a minute later. After about 30+ minutes someone finally walks by and we ask where our food is. They apologize and disappear. Our server comes by and apologizes for completely forgetting about us and informs us our pancakes will be free. After about 5 more minutes we finally get our food and I unwrap my silverware. My husband and myself decided to eat here and it wasn't a good experience at all. The service was poor. I ordered a simple omelette it came out cold so I let our server know she took the plate microwave it and bright it back. If I wanted microwave food I could have leftovers from home. I don't recommend this place at all and to top it off someone's purse was sitting on the window were our food came out!!! The general manager came to our table and didn't introduce himself he said " can I help you?" Keep in mind he look like a duty customer. I asked him "who are you?" he then expressed he was the GM. None of the waitresses wear their masks properly, some speak within 1-2 feet of customers with no mask. Last two times I've gone the wait has been really long and they didn't get my order right. Go somewhere else. read more
