I guess I should have read the reviews prior to coming. This has to be the SLOWEST IHOP there is. After speaking with the manager she showed no remorse for why the kitchen was slow. Orders took over 30+ mins to receive anything. No one back in the kitchen know what they're doing. They have an "expediter" but he's not really expediting anything. Every time we come here, we have such a horrible experience we always wonder why the hell we come back! I think it's just funny to see how horrible it will be. The best thing that ever happened though was one time we were in here and I kid you not there was a polka band playing in the back room! What a huge mistake. Please, save yourself some time and don't go to this store in New Bern. The service is horrible. Took them 10 minutes to bring me a drink and 20 minutes after sending my order they come back to tell me there are not mashed potatoes available right now, a freaking Monday! So i looked at the rating on here about this ihop. Iv never been so i said sure ill try it. As we were walking in one front door was locked no Biggy. We were seated quickly and the waitress was attentive. We got pancakes eggs hash browns and bacon. Pancakes were awesome! Eggs were over easy and alittle more runny then id like but still tasted great. The bathrooms were clean and the water is super hot. Ill be coming back here and brining family. On a side note there was dust on the lights as we first walked in.. Some one should probably dust those.. Our table was clean and not sticky the booth seats were alittle wonky but over a good experience. read more

Wow, what an 180 difference in their customer service. Everyone is in great moods adding to the welcoming atmosphere and the food was great. Eric was our server and wow... we were impressed with his customer service. It's kinda sad to say that it's rare to experience a server who provides outstanding service thereby wanting to come back for their services. Regarding to the food, the portions that my wife and I received were a little small but I believe it was to having a full house. The steak and eggs were outstanding along with the breakfast sampler. My wife and I plan on coming back here and I have to say once more, GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE !!!!!! read more

Well, I visited this IHOP a while back and it was horrible and I did a review then and got a decent response back from corporate. I went back today and took my parents before they went back to VA and I have to say that I was highly disappointed again. To begin, one of the guys that either served or busted tables was walking around with headphones and the music loud enough for you hear and he was singing at times. No one wants to hear that while they are eating or should I say waiting. I find that unprofessional in this type of environment. I don't mind receiving my food after two others tables that were seated after me when the order is correct. I ordered the breakfast platter with a waffle in place of pancakes, instead of ham another order of bacon and my eggs scrambled well done. Eggs came over easy and done. I had no extra order of bacon and had to ask twice for the waffle. I finally received the waffle and eggs not well done after I finished my other food. My father ordered an omelet with pancakes. He was brought out the pancakes with caramel on them. My middle son ordered the chicken nuggets with the banana slices and got a fruit cup and when told about this he was brought a full banana in the peel that was also rotten at the bottom. The server seemed rather confused as to what to do with such a big party being we had 7 people with us. The entire restaurant seemed a bit overwhelmed. I do not know if this was due to being under staffed or they just don't care. Last time I was at this one I said I would never go back and after well over a year I decided to see if it has changed. I was shown that it has not. Needless to say I will never return back to this one. There is an IHOP in a truck stop in VA that all places need to take notes off of as to friendly service, fast, accurate, and clean. That IHOP is located in a TA truck stop in Lexington VA. read more

Worst service ever. Took 30 minutes to get my food and my three year old sons food was not with it. We had to share with him to keep him calm and twenty minutes later his comes and it's not even what we ordered. Some customers were good friends with the servers and paid more attention to them. I asked for napkins and while talking to another table threw napkins on my table. I told the host about my experience and she said to have a nice day. Lived in New Bern for 10 yrs and this particular IHOP has had their share of issues. Seems they change managers as many times as they flip their pancakes. New manager, great service, great food. As time goes on, service and food suffer until yet another new manager comes in. One memorial day, they were slammed ! Found out that all the cooks quit at the same time that day and the waitresses were cooking as well as waiting tables, crazy day to say the least. Found out that the cooks were from a work release program...scary ! So, currently, May, 2014, restaurant seems to be doing pretty well. Wait staff are distracted, ill-trained, and completely selfish, unwilling to help each other, or god forbid the customers. Cook staff must be sleeping or on vacation. After being seated for almost an hour, and being mostly ignored, the exodus of customers began. We questioned our server about the status of our food, and she told another waitress to check on it, left and checked with another new table. The waitress asked to help mocked her coworker, and ignored us. After an hour and a half glass of juice, we left, telling patrons waiting in line to leave while they still could.
