Still struggling to be heated or get some help.Its so frustrating and heartbreaking that people working there are so mean , cold , callus abuse their power ,by screaming ,yelling on you,you wait on phone for 90 minutes to get some information and they hang up on you on less than ten seconds and you are at the same place where you were before trying to call them .Instead of getting help you get more frustrated , lost ,do not know what to do next and from where or how you can get needed help .Ihhs was not like this four years ago.I have 40 years of dealing with Ihhs experience.People were there to help you , return your call, pleasant to call you. You need to be a verified asshole to work here. The case workers are extremely unprofessional. Raising their voice at elderly people, yelling, and straight up lying about everything. We received a letter for an appointment the day before THANKSGIVING. We had plans to travel but stayed home just so the case worker could appear. Sure enough, he never came. Then he lied and said he did, but we have cameras with time stamps. Once he was caught in his LIE, he started yelling and making excuses. So I know that there are quite a few people with some, less-than-positive experiences with IHSS but overall I had a positive outcome from experiences with them. Disclaimer: I was not paid for this review nor I do not know any of the people I'm mentioning personally. In my situation, I had a loan that was closing and needed documentation verified by IHSS with the credit bureau. Although this is not normally something that IHSS is obligated to doing, they took it upon themselves to go the extra mile and help out. Without their help, I could not get the final doc needed to close the deal. I would give 0 star if I could. Ever since they switched to a 1-888 call center, it's been a nightmare. I would be on hold for an hour. Then if I get connected, sometimes the phone line would just get cut off. And if I fax or mail any forms or documents to the social worker, many times the forms would not be processed. Then I would have to call again to confirm the forms were processed or not. Then repeat the whole cycle. Terrible government agency. read more

I cannot believe how unprofessional their "Customer Service" conducted my request. I called to ask for a fax number for a verification of employment. It was 10:30 am and the person on the other line transmitted frustration in her voice with a heavy sigh. I asked for a fax and then ask for her name so that I may follow up with my call and she hung up on me! I then tried calling back to speak to human resources to confirm receipt of my VOE and of course, no answer. My mom is trying to apply for IHSS because she really needs it. She is retired, sick and old. We sent in the all the request forms that were required including doctor forms & bank statements. We got scheduled an appointment with last name Garcia. We were waiting the entire day and he did not show up. His co-worker last name Reyes gave us a call and said kindly let us know that he had a family emergency. We've tried calling back to reschedule and also tried calling the supervisor Maria. No one had picked up the phone. It's been about 2 months and we couldn't get a hold of anyone. We even tried showing up in person and they said they would get back to us. No one did and a letter of rejection showed up in our mail. How can you reject someone IHSS services before they could even get an interview? I'm not sure, what else I can do to get through to them except to yelp it and let other people know how this place operates. This place is good in terms of offering service to ppl that otherwise wouldn't get it. Thats great. However, their employee service is awful, they don't pay on time and getting in touch with the right ppl is difficult. Your best bet is to go in person..but still you will have to wait in line 40 days and 40 nights. read more

I called to inquire about address I should mail my IHSS application to apply for the service. A young lady name Jasmine answered my call. I was extremely nice and friendly to her and stated I like her name. She does not seem friendly, but did try to answer my questions to the best of her knowledge. She informed me to fax it and given me a fax# 626-312-4873 which was not indicated from my research to fax the application. Anyway, Thank God, she was not rude or hang up my call. Is it because of after 15 negative reviews on Yelp about them? It is very sad that rude people are working at this location! I totally understand that you may care less from the callers who actually needs your professional advice. The worst part is that you don't understand how long we have to wait to be able to talk to you. You don't understand our frustration and time restraint. On top of that, you are rude to us on the phone. You also hang up on us. How would you felt if you are the person that someone was being rude and hang up on? The mirror is very fair, it allows you to see yourself clearly. You treated the callers like that I am sure someone treated you like that. It is so sad! Too sad! The people answering the phones are incredibly rude. They answer you under their breath so you have to ask for them to repeat themselves and then have the nerve to get an attitude. My parents were assigned to a social worker name Yun Lin. She is the most unprofessional and rudest person I have ever came across. I called to inquire about a status on their caretaker's application. She told me the application did not pass the fingerprint test yet (which was not true) and said the applicant needed to go through "CPI" to process it. I asked her what that stood for. She rudely answered "I don't know". She was irritated from having to answer simple questions. When I started telling her that she didn't have to be so rude, that it's Friday be happy, I realized I was talking to myself. She placed the phone down, I can hear her talking to someone in the background. I kept saying "hello, did you just hung up on me?" I stood on the line for almost a minute to see if she'll come back. She never did. I hung up and called her back but she did not pick up. I left a message and told her how unprofessional and rude she was. If you ever get this lady, be prepared to talk to the rudest person you'll ever come across. I cannot believe this type of person is working in the field where they are supposed to help the elderly. Worse office ever. Phone call waiting time is more than 2 hours. Looks like nobody works in that office. I called 3 times in different days and requested paperwork for our new provider. We have not received it yet. In the past it was an assigned social worker for each recipient but now they changed it to a junk system. One person gets all of the calls. OMG!!!!! I called to verify income on a person applying for a loan. The receptionist who answers when calling the 626-569-4564 was EXTREMELY rude! I introduced myself and informed her I was calling from a recorded line and was hung up on. I called back from my personal cell, introduced myself again (without the recorded line intro) and she hung up immediately. I was hung up on 6 times when finally the last time I called, had to yell "you're not on a recorded line stop hanging up". I asked for her name which she refused to give me and asked for her supervisor info which she also refused to give me. She then tried to help me and I continued to ask for supervisor. She told me she wouldn't give me the info and will continue to hang up on me if I continued to call and ask. I told her she was unprofessional and I couldn't believe how she conducted business. I am a provider out of this office, and I posted a Google Review about the horrible customer service and unprofessional behavior of the front desk. I contacted headquarters 562.908.4426, and left a message regarding the same issue. Basically, I called because there is always something wrong with the automated system and I can never retrieve information for my recipient. Therefore, I have to try and get the information from the office. It's always the same nasty attitudes answering the phones. It's strange because they treat us, employees, like we are bothering them during company time. We're not calling after hours or their personal phones. Their job is to provide customer service. I worked for the county for 5 years, in a different position. Ironically, one of our areas and programs was conducted out of the El Monte DPSS office, so I know how these things work. You attempt to file a complaint and it goes nowhere because management wants to protect themselves or the employees. Based on these reviews and the ones on Google, this has been going on for at least two years. If it's being allowed, then management is allowing it and no recourse is taking place. What I and others are experiencing, should not be happening, especially when people are posting reviews online and probably making verbal complaints as well. The ladies at the front desk are rude and unprofessional. I called to seek information and before I can explain, I was being transferred to a line that just kept ringing? I was confused because I had not given any info such as my name or provider number, so who are you transferring me to? I kept calling back and was placed on hold for a long period of time or transferred to a ringing line. When I tried to ask for customer service to look something up, she said that she "didn't have access" and transferred me. I have been working with IHSS since 1997 along with my full-time job. This is the FIRST time customer service has not had access to look up information. Finally, I asked to speak to a supervisor and was transferred to some random line.
