As they say, the journey to enlightenment begins with just one Leksvik. But now, with an Ikea (the third largest at that) mere minutes away, the shine has rubbed off the apple. Now, when asked about it by friends in Ikealess towns, they are met with indifference. "Oh, it's okay. Nope, haven't been there in awhile." Don't get me wrong. I appreciate Ikea's presence in Atlanta. The flatpacks of goodness now so easily obtained. The chance to see how life could be lived in smartly adorned apartments with the square footage of your average SUV. You think, "I could do that. I can make my small condo look like that," and you buy the latest Nokiavolvosaab shelving unit and it looks nothing like it was meant to be even though the wordless instructional pictograms show otherwise, causing you and your girlfriend to get into that obligatory post-Ikea-furniture-buy fight. Wait, that's not fair. Ikea's been good to me if not just for the 50 cent hot dogs alone. (Why does it always come back to food with me?) The furniture labyrinth, the people watching, the chance to watch Georgia fathers calculate the life expectancy of a $200 couch in their homes, it all appeals to me. The endless merchandise, the fruitless scratch and dent room filled with half-eaten corpses of bedroom furniture, the Raiders of the Lost Ark warehouse at the end, I take none of it for granted. So let me lay all my love on you, my Swedish meatball. I may not visit as often as I should, but the next time my girlfriend and I need to get into an argument, I know exactly where to find you. read more

This place is worse than any crowded Moroccan market. Cheap, no help, trapped can't get out (worse than any mall), absolutely disgusting. Humans were not meant to be treated like this. Their products may be very reasonable and ok - but best left for online shopping. This Atlanta location is filled with attitude heavy women associates who feel very entitled. Made a mistake of buying handmade patch rugs here (tried to save few bucks)...had to return some of them took an hour....just purely waiting in line took 40 minutes. It was not busy on a week day and the manager wouldn't get any more staff to help. There were over 12 people in line and only 2 cashiers for returns. Their feedback computer is unplugged (LOL) and no manager would come to help (I asked twice). I felt bad for the 2 people waiting on the customers but seriously what kind of place is this??? I even returned the rug I was going to keep b/c I will not give a dime of my hard earned money to a place that treats its customers this badly. WOW read more

I love Ikea. I really, really love it. I first visited Ikea in New York City, and I was soooooo glad when Atlanta got a store. I bought my Ektorp sofa in 2006, and it's still going strong - no dents in the cushions and no break down of the frame. I've had a lot of covers (red, green, taupe, and navy), but for the last two years, I've stuck with the basic white. This is really a great sofa and it's sturdy. I've had guys who weigh over 200 pounds sleep on it comfortably. I've bought so much stuff from Ikea - dishes, cookware, dining room table and chairs, throw blankets and pillows, picture frames, candles, etc. The only things I've been disappointed in are the candles. They smell great when they are not lit, but when they are lit the scent does not come out. It's actually better not to light them - just use them for decoration. I shop Ikea with a plan. I know exactly what I'm looking for in Ikea so I don't follow the path. I shortcut my way everywhere. And because I've been here so many times, I have a good idea of where I need to go to find sheets, towels, rugs, cups, light bulbs, etc. I don't waste a lot of time here. Although I do get distracted (plastic containers, wooden hangers, red napkins, and cookies, oh my!), I usually spend less than an hour in the store. Returning items is super easy. And this is one place where I've never seen anyone complaining about the wait to make a return. Luckily, I live in town so I can limit my visits to Ikea to weekdays because the weekends are a nightmare. People are confused, overwhelmed and incapable of managing their 2-3 kids. Dangerous store!!! Having moved across the country we knew we were in for an experience trying to put together our house in a new area. IKEA to the rescue. The store is layed out so that there is nothing that you will forget and miss... and if you do miss it, find the shortcuts to go back to the area you want. Creative thinking and mix and matching is possible. There are employees in each area to help if you have a question. There are LOTS and LOTS of people in the store. Even at opening. Be prepared to have bumper carts in some of the areas of the store. Quick check out lines, the only real negative is that it took over 45 minutes for our large item to come out of the warehouse. There was only one order ahead of us, but they work in slow motion to get things out. We had one return to make on our second trip and it was painless. The girl instantly credited our card without any hassle. (yes, I had the receipt). The quality of the desks, bookcases, benches and even the couch is sturdy and defiantly worth the price that we paid. Good luck getting out without buying more than what you came in for. read more

My very 1st time going in IKEA. I typically stay away from hyped up places. Usually people that REALLY hype places up don't know how to go to other similar places that may be better. But whatever. The store has a huge variety of stuff.......basically anything you could want in your home. I know for a fact I can find some of the things for better prices and quality. Not only can you buy furniture, art for your walls and even furnish your kitchen with all the little items you need (cups, flatware, plates, placemats), but you can get in all your 10,000 steps for the day while shopping the maze that is the showroom floor. It's duel-purpose shopping!! To shop at Ikea, you need to be strong and handy - that is, able to follow directions with no words and wield a screwdriver and be able to lug around heavy boxes (both with your arms and in your car to get home). Everything is self-assemble. But that's okay by me, I enjoy putting things together. My entire bedroom set is the Hemnes set in white and has been for 10 years and they are still in damn fine shape (movers have broken a drawer or two, but luckily my mother is pretty handy with repair). Warning, movers hate to move Ikea furniture! I have a couple of other pieces here and there - shoe rack, picture frames, linens, etc. But my most recent purchase was a new bar cabinet. After years of using my great-grandmothers hunt board, I was over it not matching my decor. My next door neighbor had just been to Ikea and found the perfect item and I knew I had to have it. So off I went. I found what I wanted, but not in the color I wanted. Nor did they have the handy list with the part numbers I needed available. Without an employee available, I found a parts list for a bigger unit, marked it up (figuring out what I did NOT need) and headed down to the self-serve area to find my boxes. I saw plenty of pieces in the dark-brown in the area, so I knew this was available in my color. Thus begun the hunt. Since this was not my first Ikea rodeo, I knew how to look for the right pieces, but there is an easier way. Normally, a staff member can pull it up for you in their computer and print you a list - but this time I was on my own. After about 30 minutes of hunting stickers on shelves, I found all 10 pieces I needed and was in line. While the lines are always crazy line, everything is a quick scan with the gun and it moves very fast. I highly recommend becoming an Ikea Family member (online) before you ever walk into the store. This time it saved me 15% on the entire purchase! You never know which items will be on sale. Now I get the fun of putting together my new bar (Besta/Haviken) and putting everything away. CUSTOMER SERVICE: I've been here many times and have no complaints. Customer service in the showrooms have been good every visit. Customer service in the warehouse downstairs where you go retreive items is a hit or miss sometimes, but they've always been helpful, if not knowledegeable. ***TIP -Go on a weekday and save yourself the crowded showrooms and register lines. Ah, IKEA: both the bane and blessing to one's existence. I purchase basic furniture and home needs here, because I'm still living the student life as a full time employee. Why? Because I (and IKEA) have brainwashed myself to do so. Walking around IKEA's showrooms is always a maze to me. No matter how many times I've been to IKEA, I feel like it exhausts so much energy to walk through everything without skipping sections. I have no choice but to do so since I never remember where anything is. I always leave with something, whether it's a bookshelf or a lamp or an ice cream cone. Ikea has completely failed during COVID in delivering to their customers. Almost every product is not in stock, the ones you can order online with an expensive home delivery fee come incomplete. Had to go to the store to get the missing boxes and the wait was ridiculous. All employees just stand there like zombies without a clue of what customer service should be. And when I get back to my car I find two of them smoking weed in their car. No wonder they can't even tell what time it is if they are high as a kite. Never. Again. Somehow, what begins as a $800 floor model magically becomes $1500 by the time you purchase it. Bad attitudes and ambient yelling fill a grey space that can only be compared to Atlanta's old DMV. Hunger abounds, and that's where they get you.. it's cinnamon roll time. I wanted give a rating of zero but that's not an option. I ordered casserole dishes and pans that were broken and dented during shipping! The packaging was extremely unacceptable! The box was tapped together but it appeared as if there wasn't a box large enough for all of the items I ordered so they tapped several boxes together. The dishes and pans weren't individual wrapped to prevent damage, they were thrown in the box on top of each other. I will NEVER order from IKEA again! This locations online ordering "click and collect" service is a joke!!! Ordered my items yesterday and got an email today saying my order was ready to be picked up. Great! I can go pick up my items. WRONG. They have a check in process and I have been waiting now for an hour and 10 minutes with this check in process for someone to come bring my items to my car. I got out of my car after 15 minutes and asked an employee in the front if I could just pick it up in store and got told to go to the side of the building where pick up is. Where I just was...so here I am still waiting. Number 5 on their waitlist. Update: After an hour and 30 minutes the back door is now open where all cars have come to "pick up their orders." This is by no means a service that brings your order to your car. And when you get the email saying your items are ready for pickup, they actually aren't. Be prepared to check in before even arriving at ikea to make your wait time less significant. read more

With that said the Atlanta location is full of people that don't have any desire to help or operate efficiently and the only reason to go is it's your only option if you want Ikea goods. **This is a review is just on the camp @ IKEA for the little kids** I love that this store provides a place to leave your kids while you shop and it is clean and secure. Yes, you may wait in line for a while the 1 person checked in each child and repeats the same security measures over and over again. The make sure that the parent and child have matching wristbands with numbers, you are given a pager that will buzz at 30 minutes to remind you to get your child, and they tell you where they will take the kids in case of an emergency. So, he is my little issue, and it really is little, I swear. So, you have to fit between 2 heights in order to go and play in this kid area. So if your 5 year old is on the short side, they will not be allowed in, but a tall 2 year old will be. They have a height thing for your child to stand against to see if they are tall enough. Both kids were. Well, that was until my son took his shoes off and he was a hairline (seriously) under the white pipe thing that the lady pulled out. Now, I know they are busy, but we stood in line for over 20 minutes hyping our 2 kids up about the camp and made sure that they were both tall enough based on the measuring wall. So, there I was with a 5 year old who was about to go play and an almost 3 year old who was confused and very upset. Oh, and there I was frustrated that Ikea was not smart enough to have matching height requirements. PLEASE, for the sanity of parents, make sure your measuring tools are the same next time. A great place to grab pretty cheap furniture that's hip and modern. Though they aren't quality pieces (well, some are), they will last for a good while if you're on a budget. The downside is that you have to assemble the pieces together since virtually everything will come in a nice box you can take home. When you walk through the display areas, either take a picture of the tag so you know where to locate the items or write down the shelving unit where the item is stored. Basically, when you get to the end of the display areas, you will pass through an area where all the furniture you saw will be stored. Locate the items you need and proceed to the checkout area. If you have small items, you can either purchase their reusable bags for $0.57 (?) or just bring your own bags. IKEA is also known for their food. The cafe has varying types of food. There's real food to dessert items to nibble food. The prices are pretty cheap as well. Lastly, don't forget to join the IKEA Family program. Certain products will give you the IKEA Family price, which can be a big difference. I'm not talking about a $5 difference, but it is an incentive to join. IKEA is not just a store. It is an adventure. Unless you are an IKEA veteran like me, you can end up wandering the store for hours. You'll make a list of all the 214 items you *need*, and soon become depressed at how un-cool and un-modern your pad is. Must. Get. Flower. Chandelier. But fair warning - if you're even the least bit claustrophobic, you should know that IKEA has no windows. It drove me a little crazy on my first visit. Nowadays, I venture up the escalator and then straight down the stairs to the marketplace. This is what true IKEA experts do to get in, get out, and be done. On my last visit, I encountered 3 especially helpful employees. One helped me load a heavy dresser onto my cart. I asked another if I could get some help loading the unexpectedly heavy item into my car, and she gave me great instructions on how to get back down to the parking garage and where to request help. There's a yellow button on each level of the parking garage that you can press for loading help. The employee came quickly, and happily sat with my dresser while I grabbed my car and then loaded it quickly. IKEA can definitely be a headache sometimes. You will run into wandering customers who just stand in the main corridors, staring at the amazing products around them, hindering your fast-paced walk to the marketplace. Also, people tend to get very fiesty at the check-out lanes, probably due to pent-up tension from walking the store. Finally, if you're not familiar with the shortcuts, walking the showcase area can be a chore. One final warning: IKEA is a place you need to walk into with a plan. This is my second purchase from Ikea. The first time was 4 years ago. I bought a desk that is used for a makeup table that has held up well. My second purchase was a Billy bookcase. I am doing a DIY room closet and I've heard so many people say the bookcases are sturdy. My experience with purchasing the bookcase was terrible. I went on the weekend which is the first mistake. It was really something I did on a whim, but I should have waited till the weekday to go. Ikea is lacking customer service. I could not find a cart to get the bookcase. Know one told me that I look at the book case display on one floor and actually pick up one for purchase on another floor. It was a long walk and I never saw any staff until I got to the self serve area. Ikea is a great place to get your home organized. However the living room furniture doesn't look like anything that will last long. Ikea is for young people in college or someone getting their first apartment and don't have a large budget. So I was introduced to the wonderful world of Ikea furniture when I moved to my first "place of my own"........it was sitting there staring at me with it's big yellow sign saying....."Come in and get to know me".... I have since been through many ups and downs with Ikea as most relationships do......and we have now formed a truly solid bond with a love like no other. Ikea is one of those places where you can find everything you need for your home without having to splurge. I have bought everything from my bedroom duvets, to my coffee tables, to my hanging units, to decorations from this place. I have bought lamps, rugs, kitchen utensils and such. It's a one stop shop for everyone, regardless of whether you're in college on a budget, or have a place of your own and are now an adult. I personally am not a fan of their couches, but that's about the only thing......eh....who doesn't have flaws?!?! My only issue is that an item I purchased rung up as a non-sale item, but I distinctly remember a sale banner above that item AND a worker told me "it's a great deal!" I went back the next day to get a price readjustment but the cashier wouldn't budge on giving me the sale price and said she couldn't do anything about it. Weird and annoying but I didn't want to get in a huff about it. ProTips: 1. if you see an item you need, put it in your bag, but walk around and look at everything (if you care about getting a good deal). I walked by some trash cans that were going for $8 and picked one up. Later on, I found another equally-sized one for $1.49. 2. Ask a store associate anything! They are so knowledgable and if you know what you're looking for, it can save you lots of time. 3. Also, if you need a cart, they're downstairs in the MarketPlace Self Serve Furniture area right by the stairs/elevator. I didn't see any at the main floor's entrance. 4. There is an "As-is" section by the Marketplace checkout. Fun to walk through and browse. Prices are great, but obviously, items are defective in some minor or major ways. read more

Always been a long time fan of Ikea since the 90's when the only Ikea near Atlanta was the one in Chicago. The Atlanta store is huge, plenty of great items to choose from and for the quality of products they have, the prices are extremely reasonable. Anyone who is European or likes the Euro style, will love Ikea. Pro's: Great Selection of Products, Most items are very durable, the children's table I purchased is solid pine, and it came with 4 chairs and was $200 bucks, can't beat it... Love the picture frames here, I use them for custom art. If you are an artist and need frames for your pieces to sell, this is a great place to buy frames as they have a huge selection of different sizes and styles. The cooking ware is great. I love their stainless steal selection of pots, pans and most of them come with glass covers. In the past our old house needed a new kitchen counter, they have beautiful solid oak table counters, they can be cut and are perfect, they cost about 100 bucks. We did our counters for about $350, it could of cost about one grand if we purchased them at Lowes/Home Depot. Oh yes, how could I forget the Swedish pancake mix... We usually buy about 5-6 boxes at a time. I make my own mixes, but this one I love. Con's: The entrance to the first floor, which is located by the doors where the children's play could be upgraded. The last time we visited we had to pickup our baby stroller over the gate, because there is only a rotating wheel in place for one person to go in/out at a time. It would be nice to have a open/close gate here. I always enter Ikea this way, because I usually don't need to visit the 2nd floor (show room floor) and just want to go right to the merchandise as I know what I want to buy. Before you shop here... Read the following.... *I am disappointed that the self checkout system in place has been taken away. Now the lines are very long, it can sometimes take 15-20 minutes to checkout. * *If you want to shop at Ikea, shop M-F (10-11:30am or 1pm-2:30pm) when they are slow.... Okay all, I don't like this place! Outside of the strong aroma of cinnamon rolls, there is not much to brag about here. Grab a cart on level one. There are none on level 2. Grab a shopping list, pencil and paper tape measure so you're ready to shop. Catalogs are also available. They are full color and really nice! I'd rather shop from the catalog. They do have a kids area for parents to drop off their kiddos so they can enjoy the shopping experience without screaming. Honestly I don't get this store. I don't get the purpose. The prices are high. The set up is annoying. It's massive. There are a lot of cars. The bathrooms are dirty. The restaurant needs help. Argh! I'm writing a review that no one will read. Why? Well... duh. If you need to read reviews on ikea you've been held up in some time warp and missed like the last 10 years of survival on earth. I can only add this, unless you like personal torture avoid the weekends. Go during the week or at best late at night during the week. Close to an hour close Mon-Thurs you can hear your own echo. The furniture in my mind has gotten better over the years. Heck I am even considering Ikea kitchen cabinetry, I think it's decently built, not custom cabinet strength but who can afford that these days. If nothing else and you're hungry, head to the restaurant and get the $4.99 meatball dinner, and then go straight to the 99 cent cinnamon bun, and go enjoy the rest of Atlantic Station. read more

If you're looking for modern house items and furniture, go to IKEA! It has many, many wonderful appliances and house decorations in all shapes and sizes! We saw a number of large, beautiful pictures for great prices that you can put on the walls of your house. I feel like this store has a little bit of everything. For example, they sell couches, dining room table sets, wall art, oven tops, plates, photo frames, pillows, towels, candles, lighting fixtures, rugs, bathroom mats, basically anything you can think of including a cafeteria full of food at low prices. All dressers or furniture can be delivered to your house or you can pick it up downstairs and build it all by yourself when you get home! The breakfast and lunch options at the cafeteria are unlike any other! They have a breakfast platter for 99 cents or you can get their famous Swedish meatballs with mashed potatoes! They have so many options to choose from and many dessert items as well! This is a great place for the whole family to enjoy. If you wanted to shop without your kids, simply drop them off at the Kids Corner and they will be well taken care of. I definitely recommend IKEA to all consumers who just moved to a new city or a college student with a minimal size dorm room. After trying to get ahold of the store for three weeks with no luck by phone or email I head down there and end up waiting for three hours to get the issue resolved. I finally have someone help with the issue and she advised me to wait outside and she'd text me once the missing parts were ready. I waited another 20 minutes and go back inside since I hadn't heard anything and she had left for the day. I had to talk to another agent and they found that she never did what she had said and they started to track down the items. I leave and then realize they didn't give me all the parts and had to go back and wait another 30 minutes. Not one apology for the inconvenience or the fact that this entire day was wasted waiting for something that I had paid to have delivered. Such a terrible experience. I'm torn about this review. On one hand, I LOVE IKEA. On the other hand, I HATE IKEA. I know some of you know what I mean. You have to time your visit just right when you live within 40 miles of an Ikea. It's not a place where you can just pop into, like Target. For one, you never want to go on the weekend unless you absolutely have to. The place is a mad house with people driving from out of town to shop. Parking is a nightmare, the lines are a nightmare, finding your item in stock is a gamble, and the sheer number of people can be overwhelming. I love the selection of items, I love the inspiration rooms, and I love the food. I hate having to find all my items in the warehouse section and then trying to get it on those stupid carts that you can't steer. Nothing irks me more than spending all that time listing the things I want and then getting to that area to find out it's sold out until the shelves are restocked that NIGHT! Another negative is the service. So many people are walking around that work there and none of them can ever seem to help. They usually know NAD. It's so frustrating! It's like they just find random people to throw on the shirts and walk around. The checkout line is awful and I've never met a friendly cashier. Seriously, never! Returning something is a nightmare. I can't even talk about those experiences without having some disturbing flashback. Another experience that was awful is the pick and click or whatever they call it. The theory is that you order online and then you get an email when it's ready for you to pickup. They charge your credit card and all you have to do is swing in and get it. Sounds great in theory, right? However, that is not how it works at all. I placed my order at 10 am and it was supposed to be ready for pickup around 8 pm. Lot's of time to get it together. Well, it was after 8 pm and I never received an email that my order was ready. So , I headed to the store (because they don't answer phones) and gave them my confirmation #. The cashier said they were behind and it would only take a few minutes to pull my order. Huh????? My order that I placed almost 12 hours ago hasn't even been picked yet??? So, we waited and waited and waited. While we waited a guy walks up and says he's here to pick up his order. Apparently, they've pulled his order, but when he checks it there are several things missing. Well guess what, he rented a truck and drove 90 minutes to pick up this stuff and no one told him that half his order was back ordered. My eyes almost popped out of my head and that wasn't even a fraction of the level of pisstivity that he was feeling. OMG! He had an email confirmation that said his entire order was ready. The cashier stated that she didn't know what happened and sorry. Sorry????? That's it???? Ummm, I couldn't watch this train wreck anymore. I went and pulled my own order and left. That poor man...smh. So, I'll still go to Ikea and keep trying to minimize the torture inflicted while visiting. I know not to go on the weekend and I've figured out a great place to park where no one ever goes. I also know the shortcuts inside the store and I check the inventory before I start searching for things in the bins. I've realized that the staff aren't helpful so I don't ask. It limits my frustration level a bit. I know the cashiers could care less if I say hello or thank you, so I don't. We just stare at each other with dirty looks. Fine with me! read more

The place is huge with alot of interesting furniture to look at. There's a restaurant here with good looking food. The reasons I dont like this location is no one offered to help nor could we find assistance. Customers bring their dogs inside, sit on a decorative pillow in the shopping cart and them return to shelf. Disgusting. Delivery fee is too high also. read more

After doing the long line you're welcome with 'your order was cancelled overnight by mistake'. I ordered some kitchen cabinets from Ikea a week ago. It was about $5k. They were set to deliver to my house yesterday, between 12-4pm. They call you 30min before they arrive. We never got a call and they never delivered anything! I called XPO (the delivery company) was on hold for 15min then again for 5min and they said Ikea messed up. I called Ikea and was intermittently on hold for almost two hours, getting tossed between reps who were trying to figure out what was going on. I never did figure out what happened. The rep said my stuff would be delivered this morning (which is important because I have friends who were going to help me assemble the cabinets today) - but we got the call last night saying the cabinets would come between 4-8pm today. I'm glad the cabinets are at least coming today. But they should've come yesterday and Ikea should've called me to tell me they weren't coming and it shouldn't have taken me over 2 hours to figure out what was going on. And the rep told me they would come this morning, but they're coming tonight. Now my kitchen install schedule is thrown off. They wasted lots of my time so far. This place is a hot mess. When you go in it's hard to find anyone or anything you need. There's no one you can call to get answers. They simply forward you and then hang up on you. This is one of the most wasteful large pollutants of the world, making crappy products that break easily and end up in landfills. The products look Nice but are poor quality as far as products go. (Come on humans! We can do so much better) Lines are always incredibly long to check out. I would save up and buy something that lasts or go to the thrift store where you can find quality stuff from people who no longer needed it. What a waste of time. read more

Dear Ikea, The back of your receipt specifically says I can return my mattress within 365 days to exchange it. It's not my fault if your product was marked at a lower rate when I paid for it, and now bring it back when it's 50 bucks more expensive. Nowhere on the receipt does it say anything about paying the difference. Therefore, please tell your manager not to get an attitude with me when I present both the original receipt and the store credit when I specifically asked for an exchange of the same brand of mattress and then give several excuses why I now have to pay more for an item I bought less than a week ago. Why should I now have to pay 50 dollars more for the same item because I want semi-firm and not firm?? Unacceptable customer service... read more

It was so crowded today , did not feel safe to be there . A lot of people had no mask , and therr were no social distancing . The cashier at checkout was rushing everyone . You would notice a lot of people were jamed at the same time to pay , and to gather their stuff. Very disappointed, at this time of covid 19. Will not be back for a long time. read more
