3.5 stars. As someone who has done many renovations, I thought these folks made a good first impression but ultimately were not right to work with. Javier came quickly and provided a quote for a shower remodel in my new house. They were all very professional, even as I took a while to decide. But once I signed the agreement they sent an additional agreement the next day demanding 50% up front (no problem with that) and an additional 40% when only half the work was done. Big red flag. This was my first time having a major renovation project done, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I had 2 bathrooms completely gutted and rebuilt, to include tearing down a wall and expanding a space. First of all, they showed up, and they finished the job, which is is so important! They responded to my questions/concerns in a timely manner. Pedro was my project manager, and he was very pleasant to work with. He was very concerned that things were the way I liked them. My bathrooms turned out great! When I bought my home, I immediately knew the kitchen needed to be updated. My house was over 20 years old and everything was VERY brown. There was a high top bar that I needed lowered and the fireplace needed to be resurfaced. I reached out to FD remodeling and Diego came out and gave me an estimate. Once we started the remodel process everything was super easy and straightforward. The team did a great job on the work and even touched up the paint in some areas and hung a new light that I ordered. When I had a question about a gap between the waterfall and the wall, they immediately addressed it and the work is seamless - you can't even tell it's a false wall! Out of 6 remodeling companies I called yesterday evening she was the only one to call me back the next morning. When I spoke with her about the lack of plywood on my house she was INCREDIBLY helpful. We aren't too familiar with the area we're buying this house in, and she gave us all the background info on the area including a massive flood that happened in 2009. She gave us such detailed advice and insight on the area and how to find records on the house when there aren't any sellers disclosures. She's booked out 2 weeks on appointments for quotes, but I guarantee you we will be using them if we do move forward on the purchase of this home. THIS is what a good business owner does. Found her to be nonchalant and mildly condescending. But nevertheless, identified our needs, set up a time for an estimate. No show. Called to see what was up. No record of our conversation. More nonchalant. More mild condescension And hung up on me. Great indicator to how they value their customers. Run don't walk. read more

I want to update my review again, due to the fact we had yet another failure of the exposed, undercounter wiring for the lighting in our kitchen. By the 4th round, their initial electrical worker, who I now suspect wasn't certified or licensed, but can't say that definitively, due to the poor quality of his work with what is typically very easy low-voltage wiring configurations that frankly, in 35 years of running electrical subs and over 20 years of pulling low-voltage Cat 5, 6, etc. EN wiring, I've rarely seen fail unless the sub has no idea what he's doing. Typically in this type of wiring, the fail points are where the wiring is not punched down, or in the case of typical LED light wiring, the snap couplers are stressed, breaking contact inside the couplers. Apparently, this is exactly what happened with their "repairs", not to mention the so-called "transformer" their first "electrician" installed, one neither I nor the competent electrician they finally sent to fix it all. Unfortunately, he had to make several trips to rectify all of the work previously not done properly. What angers me most about this is that Vickie Duran, an owner, upset she's paying for trip after trip, decides to disavow responsibility, letting us know, in so many words, they were doing us a favor by doing electrical work they weren't responsible for. Personally, I've NEVER, EVER seen low-voltage LED undercounter wiring be the cause of any failure of the system itself and my observations and personal experiences go back all the way to the initial advent of LED lighting. So based on Ms. Duran's outrageously wrong position on their responsibilities, I'll never use them again. I regret this, I enjoyed working with all of them, especially Javier Duran, and their flooring people, their cabinet and trim people, their painters and their drywall people are some of the most talented, competent, always going the last mile folks I've ever worked with or witnessed. That's the sad part--the folks who do the work care far more about the customer than the Ms. Duran does. Unfortunately, that's a bad combination that won't end well for the customer. I do NOT recommend using these folks because Ms. Duran does not accept responsibility for their work and places the fault egregiously on the customer. We were not done any favors, they did not "go out of their way to accommodate us", like we were some kind of ignorant jerks who complained wrongly about everything. That is not myself or my wife and it's insulting, hurtful and degrading to be spoke to and treated this way. read more

The FD Remodeling team did an amazing job capturing the vision we've had for hardwood floor installation. They started by removing carpet and installing the new hardwood floors. We already had hardwood floors in the foyer and dining area that were a lighter shade so they blended the old with the new floors. They were absolutely professional, time efficient , reliable and showed significant expertise. I would highly recommend them for this job. The only reason I did not give them a 5 is because we were charged to paint the wood rails which is fine but when we asked the painter if they could paint the the trim where they were small drops of stains they did not complete that part. To me it is not complete until it is complete. Other than that I would hire them again. read more

Vickie wanted me to pay more for the mantle to be completed, she claimed Mike didn't charge me enough, their mistake not mine, and of course I declined. Mike did offer to repair the cement at no cost. If you have an issue talk to anyone else but Vickie in admin, the rest were kind and tried to resolve the issue. read more

We had a secondary bathroom remodel done recently, and FD did a fantastic job. Javier was amazing from quotation, all the way through to the finished product. Well, we had been putting off our master bath remodel for years but finally bit the bullet. Our bath was original from around 20 years ago. Not only was it dated, the shower tiles were on their last legs with regard to grout. Got a couple of quotes. FD was on the lower end but the selling point was Javier (and yelp reviews). He was very knowledgeable and assured us his workers were excellent. I do some basic repairs and remodeling and can say their tile, sheetrock and painting skills are impressive. They moved small walls and the drywall tie-ins are seamless. The tile guy was said to have decades of experience and it showed. Javier and his crew were able to coordinate picking up the vanities and also bought in a glass guy. Glass guy was behind and we had to wait longer than anticipated but he was also good. I was torn between a 4 and a 5 star review. The work is top notch, no doubt. I was disappointed with some of the communication and workers not showing up a couple of times, but on reflection, they did better than most compared to other contractors so they earned the 5 star. Would we recommend them to a friend? Let me put it this way, they are doing our kitchen in the next few months. read more

We contracted with Mike from FD remodeling to install new kitchen cabinets and a new front stairs for the house. Initial estimate was done and agreed upon in January and it is now almost July and the final kick plate was just installed. The process to get the stairs installed was completed two months after the contract was signed but took 3 extra trips out to fix the issues (warped/chipped wood on a stair and handrail, unfinished sections of the side of the stairs, extra concrete was dumped in the yard and nails/screws/casings left everywhere). In March, Mike informed he was looking for cabinets that would match our existing cabinet style and color (sent over a few options) and we informed we would go with one he sent over as it was the closest option. Mike informed that he would keep looking anyhow. 11 days later, after I reached out to him, I was informed he was going to special order the one we selected. 20 days later, I again had to contact Mike and ask for an update which he informed would be ready in 4 days and after they were received, an install date would be confirmed. The install was done 9 days later and there was no countertop to install nor was the kickplate included during installation. When contacted about this, Mike explained that the estimate didn't include the price for the countertop and that they need to measure to get the correct size. Informed this would be done ASAP. During installation, several steps were taken that were not agree'd upon during the consultation (a new hole was cut from my hardwood floors to move the vent they would be covering instead of having it remain in place and vent through the bottom of the cabinets, there was no extra room left for the trashcan placement we agreed upon, etc). Mike agreed to stop by to "make things right" and we discussed all the issues. 11 days later after no contact from Mike, I again had to contact for update and was informed that the guys would be back out to complete the shortcomings from the front stairs when the weather cleared up. Was informed that the shelves had been ordered and would receive an timeline for the countertop that same day. After the crew was a no-show the day we were informed they would be out, I again contacted Mike who informed someone would be out between 1:30 and 2 to complete the work. They didn't show until about 3 and wrapped up around 4:30. After another 5 days of no contact regarding the countertop and shelves, I again contacted Mike who said they would be picked up 6 days from then and installed the day after. On the planned installation date, I was informed that the countertop still hadn't been delivered but that they have people waiting to go pick it up from the mill that day. At the end of the day, I received an update that the top was at the wood shop and would be collected that evening. The next day, I was informed they still didn't have the countertop but it would be picked up and installed that day. The worker collecting the countertop missed a window and was unable to get pick it up. The following Monday they were able to get the countertop and install it. However, it was measured and cut at my house so it is unclear why the top wasn't ordered previously. The kick plate was finally installed today 2 months after the cabinets. This job was fraught with poor communication, missed deadlines and (in my opinion) mid quality work. Had the entire process been adequately conveyed to us in the beginning, we would have most likely selected one of the other companies we had gotten estimates from. read more

We contacted FD Remodeling about tiling our kitchen and laundry room floor, as well as adding a subway tile backsplash in the kitchen. This company was one of seven that we contacted, and we ended up choosing them for our project because they were reasonably priced (not too expensive, but also not too cheap), thorough (the estimate included all supplies, transitions, removal of old materials, etc. that would be involved in the project), and professional in their communications (this was a big concern of mine). Javier, the owner, and Mike, the project manager, were both friendly, easy to talk to, and responsive to my phone calls and texts throughout the process. Overall, the project turned out absolutely beautiful. The tile expert, Eleazar, was SO thorough and meticulous and both the floor and backsplash are perfect. FD Remodeling was also very accommodating when we added other things onto the project: painting of windows/trim/doors, new door hinges, and installation of a new laundry utility sink. The end result is pretty spectacular! That isn't to say there weren't problems with our project-- for example, a section of hardwood floor in our living room was scratched when the fridge was moved. However, Javier and his team were quick to resolve the problem. That section that was scratched was sanded down and refinished, and now it looks great! You can barely tell that anything happened. We were super appreciative for that. Overall, we plan on using FD Remodeling in the future for other home projects. It is awesome to have a relationship with a general contractor that is responsive, professional, honest, well-priced, and creates such quality results. read more

This company had so much confidence during their consultation and made it seem like all our bathroom renovation dreams would come true! They demolished it in record time and then took 4 months to complete. Workers didn't always show up when we were told and we had several installation issues. The end product looked nice but the communication was lacking and they did not handle our customer complaints well. They were accusatory and seriously lacked customer service. They made excuses for why something was taking so long or why they couldn't complete a task. The end product was nice but the road to get there was so awful and painful I would have never hired them if I had known just how poorly we would be treated. I wish you could see the text convos and the way we were addressed and spoken to. My advice: pay a little more and get treated right. read more

We had our guest bathroom remodeled by FD Remodeling. From our meeting for an estimate thru completion of the project, Javier and his team were a pleasure to work with. During his initial visit, Javier had several suggestions for flooring and trim pieces that worked nicely in the room. The demolition went smoothly, and during all stages of work, the crew kept all affected areas covered and cleaned up every day. Javier estimated 5 1/2 days - it ended up being 5 days. Installation of the tub, porcelain and mosaic tiles, flooring, toilet and vanity all done expertly and the bathroom looks amazing ! Javier was always available to answer any questions, came by every day to check in, communicated if and when additional materials were needed, and even picked up several of our larger purchases at Lowe's - thank you! It seems a lot folks had really good experiences with FD remodeling. Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience with them. I think they could have done a good job had we been assigned a quality project manager out of the gate. However, our original project manager did a really poor job of coordinating and managing the project. There was no attention to detail which led to over half of our project having to be redone. I think we also got the bottom of the barrel sub-contractors. Many things were done incorrectly with very low end quality. Because of the project being done wrong the first go round, FD was in a constant state of trying to recoup cost which led to a number of original scope of work disputes. Those ultimately led to us having to pay a higher price to complete the project. When we hired FD, we expected to get a completely finished project without us having to fight for basic finishing touches like caulking trim, staining wood they installed, and painting walls. Our business with FD has concluded but we're still left with a number of finishing touch items that FD did not want to do (primarily painting). We basically had to fight with them all the way to the end of the project to get it 95% completed. The only saving grace for them is that they tried to recover the poor work that was done originally and they did correct a number of things that were originally done wrong. Overall, I just can't recommend them based on our experience. read more
