(Brands include William Ohs, Downsview, Cabico). They have arrangements with a number of local stores to assist with lighting (ie Circa) and plumbing (ie Waterworks) and appliances that takes a reduction from retail. They also sell Cornue and Aga ranges and have a showroom full of examples of other brands and configurations. Our kitchen already had a 48" Viking and 48" Subzero, but lacked a workable floor plan and had 25 year old tile and track lighting. Laurie Lehrich worked magic by looking beyond what was currently in place. Sticker shock. I had a DECENT budget and after all design, cabinet selection, appliances - was already 30% over my budget. Laurie didn't even blink when I said we had to go back to the drawing board because I refused to go over budget. 5-star from start to installation. Could not have a better experience. If only I could afford a new master bath and closet - and when I can, I will be calling them to do the work!

I used these guys for a full bar an island for my home in Buckhead and could not have been more disappointed. I paid for imported Italian cabinets and received makeshift ones built in the US. I paid for professional installation, and after months of delays, missing pieces, scratches and defects, they were installed by one of the sales peoples' husband because they were too busy to find a professional. It was a total disaster and ripoff. But they admittedly duped me into paying virtually all if it in advance so I had no recourse. I strongly caution against using these guys.

After an initial meeting with Brantley Everett and Trey Monroe, I felt they understood what I was looking for and could deliver the kinds of cabinet I wanted. Brantley came to my home to evaluate and measure the site. I wanted to brighten and use my existing space more efficiently. He was able to do that on only the second layout version which maximized the use of the space and made the room appear much larger. They recommended an excellent contractor who did the demolition, construction, plumbing and electrical. Trey and Brantley made many helpful recommendations for appliances and countertops. Their cabinet installer, Axel, was a real pro in every respect. He brought that genuine German precision to the project. With their help and guidance I now have a beautiful modern, high end Leicht kitchen that have, of course, shown off to all my family and friends. I highly recommend this organization. The result was transforming. This area became a go to for many and resulted in a ten percent uptick in sales. The furniture he designed was not only beautiful, but smart in form and function. His team truly transformed the space; and made the business more profitable.

Needless to say, I am absolutely thrilled with the result. I told Jeffrey before work began that I wanted to make no decisions and that came to pass thanks to his detailed plans. The contractors worked from those plans and I have only the highest praise for them, too. Jeffrey's plans combined three rooms into one large space and included replacing the cellar stairs (where I had to duck my head going down) with a circular stair case that is just perfect. The final result was far removed from my initial discussion with Jeffrey but his design was so perfect that I quickly deferred to him on virtually everything he wanted to do. He included a large island in the kitchen which I had not envisioned and behind it he added a three-pane glass sliding door that lets a ton of light into the room and that I use all the time to get to my deck. He also designed a garden window that projects outward by about eighteen inches and is full of plants. I first learned of Jeffrey because he designed the kitchen of my next-door-but-one neighbor. I loved it and I love mine even more. I'm so happy with the result. The work also included a new floor in the attic space and opened up the den to the new kitchen.

Kara was one of the worst people I've ever done business with, she was rude, spiteful and…read moreaggressive on several occasions; and often made up false reasons why I behaved a certain way which I had to spend a good deal of time correcting. For example, when I did not return a text message within a couple of hours, she would say that I was avoiding her or trying to put her off in some way, even though I had previously explained that I didn't have my personal cell phone in meetings and would not be able to respond to her quickly during business hours. As time lapsed, she got more and more unreasonable. On at least two occasions, she threatened to put a lien on my house and take me to court. The first time was because I did not want to pay the entire third installment, only a portion of it, since her crew did not finish the work on the deadline provided. This seemed reasonable to me, but she threw a major fit on the phone, called me a number of highly unprofessional terms and then threatened me with a law suit. So, I backed down, in tears, to avoid a silly suit and hopefully finish the last items so I could put my house up on the market sooner rather than later. Then, a few days later she lost it over some missing paint, which I later found inside the house, but she accused me of stealing. The final straw was with the last payment, which I sent via postal mail from Maryland, where I live. She knew I was sending the payment, but when the check didn't come as quickly as she thought it should, she started her bullying tactics of leaving me nasty threats on my voicemail and via text. I was on a flight to California to go wine tasting with some college girlfriends, and the last thing I wanted to deal with was Kara and her craziness, but I had to nonetheless. She had me so stressed out during the flight, that I was thinking about paying her twice for the job in an attempt to end the bullying and the stress it was causing me. Luckily for me, the check finally arrived before my second flight landed-- she left me a message stating that she got the check and that she was paid in full, but she he never apologized ever for her behavior--which I find incredible given her unprofessionalism and aggression. I will say that for the most part, the work was done in a quality manner, with three exceptions: 1. I had some plumbing work done and it was supposed to be under warranty. So, when it the same plumbing issue resurfaced a couple of months later, I emailed to see if they would honor the warranty. Kara declined, stating that the company she owned went out of business (Laughing Sun Renovations). It's only now, that I paid another plumber $800 to come out and fix something her team was supposed to have fixed the first time that I find out she's opened another renovations company (that seems to do the same thing I was paying her old company to do). It's very disappointing to have had to fix this issue twice, as each time I had to pay the fee, but I also had to deal with getting the plumber to the property and cleaning up the drywall and getting the ceiling painting that needed to be done both times. It was both a waste of time and money. 2. I also had a lot of interior painting done, and while the paint job was done well, there were many drippings that were never cleaned up by her or her staff. I found a number in the bathtubs, on sinks, on drapes, etc. 3. She did some tile work in one of my bathrooms and some of it was not finished correctly. I had to pay someone else to come and fix it, so that there would not be any leaking from the improper install.

This is a review of this particular location not the Ballard business as a whole. I am a fan of Ballard the store but this location has its issues. I do love that we have such a huge location in Atlanta, that is a positive - due to HQ also being located here i imagine. But I don't understand why it does not function as a showroom or flagship for that reason. Also this store does seem to be rearranging constantly. I cannot remember a time when I have visited and it was not moving something around. As such, staff does also always seem preoccupied by this and less inclined to help. When I can get staff to help it is usualyl because i have a specific question and they usually do not have the info on hand or may not know where I can see a specific iten on store (probably because it all moves around so often) which can be frustrating.

Five days later, I received an unexpected cancellation notice with no real explanation. When I called customer service to understand what happened, the only solution offered was a $25 gift card, which felt like an insult considering the inconvenience and the fact that I now have to start my search over again. To make matters worse, the exact same style chair is still available as an individual custom-order option -- yet the company refused to offer any discount or price adjustment, even though the original in-stock set I purchased was canceled through no fault of my own. For a company at this price point, I expected far better communication, accountability, and customer care.
