I like Ikea. We bought furniture here (actually at the original Plymouth Meeting store) for my son's room when he was 10, and even though he's long gone out of the house (he's 30), the stuff is still functional. Small problems with the dresser drawers and a few cabinet doors, but it's fine for it's second life in my sewing room. I went back recently with my daughter. She needed a bunch of inexpensive filing things for her 5th grade classroom & I tagged along. I found myself zoning out in a mental over-load state, and shuffling along like Ma Perkins in the big city. Very bright. Lottsa colors. Many inexpensive impulse items tempt. I found some nifty things for the grandkids, including a pop-up thing that looks like a pirate's treasure chest. Very inexpensive, and perfect for a "dress up box". I don't know if I'm into their furniture any more -- we make great finds in flea markets (and even curbside on trash day) for items to pass on to our first-time homeowner kids -- but I can certainly see it's usefulness. I also think that they've done a lot to move our design aesthetic to brighter and cleaner lines. Yeah, the furniture can be a b$%ch to put together, but I put all of my son's stuff together myself, back in the day. If I can do it, you can stop your whining. I am a huge Ikea fan! Why cause I am a mom of young kids, I am a semi eco-nut, I am super thrifty, and it is a short drive from home. I do have some furniture from Ikea, our king bed & a set of bunk beds, a set of book shelves, a dresser & a TV stand. Have moved many times - the master bed has taken a beating in one area - but honestly that was my darling husband getting a little aggressive w/ the disassembly I believe & otherwise - everything else is perfect. Okay, still I have a 3 bed home & finished basement so that isn't much furniture you may wonder what the heck I am doing at IKEA if not buying furniture! Well, usually it's a meal in the Swedish café - the meatballs are always a favorite but they usually have salmon, fresh salads, tasty sandwiches, amazing deserts - the apple cake is so tasty, fresh veggies, and sides. So grab a funny tray cart on wheels and stack up your trays and go grab / order your goodies - the prices cannot be beat especially when you take in consideration how often they have the kids eat free specials, or other deals. MONDAY FREE breakfast until 11am 99¢ Organic Pasta with Tomato Sauce 99¢ $1.99 (11am to close) TUESDAY Kids Eat Free! Buy a cup of coffee from the downstairs café - it's a bit better & a cinnamon & enjoy the next couple of hours cause your kids will. Mine beg me to go to Ikea to eat & play. If you want, you can actually shop but you don't have to. Then, there is all the wonderful kid stuff they sell. They make great creative play & cloth/wooden toys, great bedding/room furnishing for kids that won't break the bank. Their arts/crafts stuff is awesome, the easel & giant roll of paper is a favorite at our house & so much cheaper & well made than what you will find in toy stores. They also have some of the best storage/organization stuff - check in the storage/organization area downstairs as well. Have babies/toddlers? Don't worry - Ikea has you covered - they have baby food for sale in their café in case your forget, a microwave for warming bottles & uncrustables for your picky toddler that has decided PB&J is the only thing they will eat & highchairs a plenty. In the restroom area near the café there is a mother's room, stocked with a rocking chair for nursing, a changing table, some play things, an attached bathroom so your toddler doesn't run away while you empty your bladder or wash your hands. The regular bathrooms are kid friendly with changing stations - all of which have diapers in case you just used your last one, stools for short people, etc. It couldn't be a more parent friendly. We love IKEA but there are just way too many things I want to buy!!! We've bought a couple nice dressers from there that are of pretty nice quality, and recently got an end table and a cute little desk and chair set for dirt cheap! TOO BIG! My god is it too big! They need teams or golf carts or something to get through the place. I was all ready to swear off Ikea all together...until yesterday. We went to the Phila. location earlier in the day and quickly left after we found they didn't have what we needed in stock. This location was MUCH less crowded and only forty minutes away from the city I'd suggest going to this location every time. We bypassed the Marketplace and went right into self serve to pick out our items- they weren't labeled as clearly as they were in the Phila location but there were several "co-workers" (that's what they call them- I think it's funny) available to help. Another plus- there were self-serve registers opened and we were in and out of the store with the car packed in a HALF HOUR. Also- we purchased the Mammut baby crib- it was SO EASY to put together- only about 6 pieces and 40 accessories (screws and such.) I was thoroughly pleased. read more

We spent several hrs there and $500 later even before leaving the building i realized I forgot to hand my reward membership card. When I went to the returns/exchange area a lady said the transaction was locked in and I'd have to return all the items and then she said I would've to go back in the store and purchase everything because once I return the items, they need to go back in to the inventory. What kinda BS is that!? And she said all that with a straight face! I walked away. I went back to the original cashier told him the saga, he called he supervisor and voila! It literally took her 1 min to do the receipt correction! Guess what lady at the return/exchange area?!?! You have no clue how to talk to a customer. You've no right to lie to a customer. Okay, I admit with some guilt that I'm a fan of IKEA... but only want to "do" IKEA maybe once or twice a year, 'cause every visit there is a huge investment of time. That said, it's just fun to walk around, look at stuff, eat the swedish meatballs, and even furnish an entire room with mod stuff for a couple hundred bucks. Are you a glutton for punishment and want more details? Okay then, here are some pros and cons. Cheers! Pros: * Amazing selection of affordable, even disposable furniture, and every year they roll out fresh new lines. * The styling can be pretty cool. Awesome, even. And the way they've set up the furniture in displays really can inspire ideas. * I furnished my home office from here for about $500, have been very happy. We also got a rockin' modular closet organizer that has worked out amazingly. * I think it's fair to say that you get a bit more than you pay for here. * They have babysitting! Although it's first-come first-served. * Usually plenty of staff on hand to help, and I understand they treat their people pretty well. That's a big plus in this era of WalMart abuse of employees. Cons: * Going to IKEA is a commitment: they've deliberately designed it so you can't get through it quickly, no doubt so that you find more things to buy and spend more money. * It's nice there's a cafeteria: you actually need a break it's so big. But the food is somehow lacking... perhaps because it's not completely unhealthy? But it can be a bit bland and portions small. Maybe it's a Scandanavian thing? The Lingonberry soda is always a treat for some reason though, although it's really mostly like raspberry ginger ale. * The checkouts are always a bit crowded, as is the store. * Getting back to your car with your purchases can be a pain. * Then, when you get home, you have to put everything together! Ya know, thinking about it, maybe it's better to just spend the extra money and get the stuff assembled. read more

Bought a plant here a couple weeks ago and took a turn for the worse pretty quickly. I figured that it would not be an issue to get it replaced or a store credit. WRONG. After waiting in returns for 10 minutes or so the cashier told me that I could have purchased it anywhere since I did not have a receipt. The fact that the pot had the Ikea label on it did not matter. She told me to wait for a manager - after 10 more minutes of waiting she showed up and then searched the computer for a record of the transaction using both my license and credit card. After that she gave me an "Ikea Return Card" - it had that printed on the card so they must have people make returns without a receipt often enough to have need for the card. So - they get one star for taking almost 30 minutes to do what any other retailer would do in under 5 minutes. read more

This rating is directed at Ikea's delivery service; not necessarily the store or the company itself. I wanted to write this review sooner, but hadn't gotten around to it. I am very pleased with the bed that I purchased through the store. It's a quality product. My sales associate was very helpful and knowledgeable. I had a delivery time slot for which I had to take a foodless lunch break from my already physically active job for; not a huge deal. Also, they made the delivery in the allocated time. The two guys get to my house and the first thing one of them does is ask me to use my bathroom. I obliged but they seriously couldn't have stopped at a wawa? They told me that they couldn't (or wouldn't) haul away the old bed. They set up the frame pretty efficiently. I had to sign off on a sheet that had my name spelled wrong which didn't seem like a big deal to them. Plus they were rude. I find that they left the mattress standing up, backwards, against my dresser, in its packaging, for me to do myself. Mind you, I'm 5'4, and on the slender side. I also have three nosy cats that I was fearing for as I had to wrestle with the damn full-sized mattress. After that, I come outside to find a huge pile of trash laying out on my front yard. Really, it was that hard to even take this away? I had paid for delivery... but I guess that was all I had paid for. I had a ten set aside for the guys for their troubles... but needless to say my troubles seemed to outweigh theirs. read more

Customer service is really really REALLY bad. I was on hold when I called for about 55 minutes before I got a CSR on the phone. I needed replacement screws for a Poang chair. She told me she couldn't help me unless I gave her a part #. I said I was driving and I couldn't. She said I was out of luck then. I said why can't you look it up on your system - and like a broken record she said I had to tell her the part #. When asked again why she couldn't look that up in the system she said its bc she wasn't sure which screw I wanted. I said well - how about if I wanted all of them - there are only so many types for that chair right? She said well in that case I should just go into the store however she couldn't guarantee there were any in the store. Can someone please tell me how any of this was helpful? I know people come here for the furniture but I come here for the meals. The classic Swedish meatballs are wonderful. I always get them with a plate of fries drenched in gravy. If you have a Thrifty gal no better place for date night. I know I'm not alone, it can get quite busy here. And in the case of the furniture I own a great deal of Ikea products there is an obvious correlation between price and quality. For example their pillow for $69 is significantly better and more durable then they're $9 pillow. I have one of their mattresses with a 10 year warranty I believe it conked out after 6 years I have the receipt and got a replacement one no problem at no charge. read more

I went to the Swedish Easter Paskbord April 5th, 2019 which is IKEA's periodic swedish smorgasbord buffet at their restaurant. I have been several times over the past few years at different times of the year for their smorgasbord events and the food was fantastic and professionally presented. They would have a huge buffet laid out. It's kind of weird eating a "fancy" buffet at IKEA. The place was always packed. However, something happened. On April 5th we went again and there was hardly anyone there. There was no buffet...you went through the regular line and and the servers dished up pretty much the standard fair which wasn't even as good as their normal food. It was embarrassing really. Someone in management, maybe only at the IKEA in Conshohocken, decided the full spread and better food was a not worth the effort, or a money looser. So be it. Please understand that this is not a one star review for the Ikea products. I have shopped at Ikea forever and have spent over $10K over the years furnishing my home as a 20 something in the 90's shopping at their Potomac Mills, VA location, furnishing my now grown children's homes in the 2010's and still love their products. Nothing like the design and thrill of the Ikea experience! This review is regarding the return policy. I've since moved to Cleveland, OH where the closest Ikeas are either Pittsburgh, PA or Canton, MI. Both over 2.5 hours away. This past weekend, we rented a truck and went to pick up 4 Pax wall units to create a dressing room in our home. Canton had everything in stock (at least at the time we designed the units online), so we chose to go there, over Pittsburgh. Upon our arrival, only 4 of the 7 Bergsbo doors we needed were in stock. What a bummer! Looks like it was a big shopping day and someone beat us to them. We decided that we'd just order the remaining 3 doors online when we got home and would wait the week or so to add the doors to the units. Total bill is just short of $2K including the doors ordered online. Our last name is NOT Rockefeller....that's not chump change! Upon assembly at home, we found out that one of the doors had experienced a crush injury on the edge of the panel (not something that could be hidden or overlooked), so we went ahead and ordered 4 new doors, instead of 3, online. We anxiously await their arrival. So I called Ikea customer service this morning regarding the damaged door. Waited a good 10 minutes to speak to an actual human being. The rep informed me that I would have to physically drive back the 2.5 hours to receive credit for the unusable item (which would never be able to be resold in it's current state....it's a 4 inch crush right on the front center of the door). I asked if the shipping company from their website that would be delivering the new doors would be able to return the door for us. They said no, it was a third party vendor (yet the only shipping option on their website?). I asked if we could take a picture, provide a copy of the receipt, and be refunded. They said no. I asked if they refunded shipping? They said no, and a half hearted sorry. So the $60 door would likely be upwards of $30 or $40 to ship back. Not really an option. Overall, really really disappointed in the customer service. Unless you live close by, looks like you're out of luck if you find anything damaged upon opening product. Not cool, Ikea. read more

Let me just start with, I joined my long lost family, IKEA!! I have no idea why they didn't find me in Alaska, where they would've profited greatly by our reunion,". But that's okay, we are here now. If you are remodeling, shopping for a college student, shopping for your first apartment, or just looking for an amazing day, START HERE!! I made the mistake of going to three other stores first in the Philly area. I found myself wishing I was Corduroy (the children's book character - a bear) so that I could move in. The prices were reasonable, the products and food right up to date and yummy, and the selection like a kid being in the most giant candy store! I especially want to write that I spent less than $10 on a huge and delicious meal (see pics) and had a great time spending lots of money on super deals and FUN things that are environmentally friendly, reasonably priced and cool to give to my daughter starting school and wonderful gifts to bring home. What more can I say: lonely, girl's day, date? It all works!! Go to Ikea and definitely join the fam. I saved more then $20, I won't tell you what I spent! read more

The review largely reflects the return/exchange center and the staff there. They are all extremely knowledgeable about Ikea products and helpful when it comes to returns/exchanges. We had an issue with part of our bed and they made the replacement process easy and quick. They also were extremely pleasant. I like this store otherwise (clean, great selection, products are always in stock, etc) however the checkout lines are ALWAYS ridiculous. (hence the lack of five stars) and I think they should have more cashiers on hand most days. read more

IKEA is one of those places that you get excited about going into, especially if your looking to do some decorating. The concept is unparalleled to any other American department store. There's just a plethora to explore and creativity and ideas are illuminated. It's good for all ages too, especially to brighten kid's imagination. Whenever I go I enjoy being inspired by the decor and interior designs displayed. The prices are sometimes good, even great, and other times not so good. The cafe area is absolutely wonderful; there's great prices for awesome taste and portions. On the lower level there's a mini frozen food section and cafe area for quick eats. IKEA is massive, so wearing comfortable shoes and clothes is advised! Oh, and remember to not get lost. Overall, it's really a cool place to shop--helpful employees and unique finds. read more

This review is directly addressed at the gummy candy wall at this Ikea. This section is a lot of fun, and you just fill a paper bag with what you want and then pay by weight. I have tried every one of the gummy candies on this wall except the licorice ones (I can't stand the taste of black licorice). My personal favorites are the fried eggs (lemony orange yolk with a wonderful marshmallow bottom), the gummy frogs and mice, the red flat pieces with the S on them, and the forest berries and the gummy berries, and the social media candy. Ones I wasn't particularly impressed with were the racecars (basically a lump of hard wax with a tiny strip of hibiscus flavoring in the middle), the vanilla marshmallow (it was a little hard and dried out), and the rolled up sour strips (it tastes like a weird combination of watermelon and bubble gum). read more

Having only ever been to the Baltimore IKEA location before, I wasn't sure what to expect from visiting this one... Would it be the same? Would it have different things in stock? I was pleasantly surprised that it had different room displays and items set up, compared to Baltimore, especially an area dedicated to display cases/buffets (which is what I was searching for specifically). My only gripe is that the bathrooms seemed grungy and more like an afterthought. There was no latch on the door of many of the stalls, so you had a hole in the door and anyone would be able to take a peek at you through it. Not cool. read more

This was my first visit to Ikea and I am primarily reviewing their cafeteria. Wow, they had a cafeteria! So of course I had to try the "Swedish" food since Ikea is a Swedish company. I put that in quotes because I am not sure how true to Swedish cuisine was my experience. Of course I had the Swedish meatballs with mashed potatoes and lingonberry jam. Seven hours later I was still experiencing it in the form of belches. Ugh. I also tried the Swedish almond cake. It was bland, and not too sweet, which I normally like, but it sure needed it this time. It had a lemon frosting which was not very lemony. It should have been. We had been told that they have decent kitchen stuff cheap. I tried to find a good-sized red wine glass. None. Even Target has red wine glasses. I tried to find a decent-sized chopping block with grooves around the edge. None were big enough, except one which was titanic and extremely heavy. Ah well. There are many stores that have chopping blocks. I can see how some people like this place, I particularly liked some of the light fixtures both for design and price, but I won't be back. read more

Who doesn't like getting lost in Ikea? Communists, that's who! I like to come here whether I'm moving, or looking for a cheap accent piece, or just killing time. They do a good job with displays, so you have some decorating ideas to start with. A lot of the things at Ikea are generic, but I'm in to modifying the pieces I get. I have a TV stand that I removed the sliding drawers from, and spray painted the legs gold to create a unique sofa table. The stuff you get resells on craigslist faster than something you'll get a other stores. Bring a reusable bag. They don't offer plastic. Food there is mediocre but cheap. The supervised play area is great for families so you can shop in piece. read more

This is one of my favorite IKEA locations ever! We've visited here many times with friends and family over the years and never cease to be amazed at the selection of items, the cleanliness of the facilities, and the quick checkout lines. The food in the cafe is out of this world at a very reasonable price! The only downside to this IKEA is the service at the food court. Although overall it's good, they often only have one checkout register open, which can make for a long wait while your food gets cold. The parking garage is gigantic and there's plenty of space for loading up all your purchases without bumping into someone else. Awesome location, highly recommend, we'll be back here soon! read more

It's an Ikea. It's always packed, you can count on seeing at least one toddler on a leash(!), and once you find what you want you walk and walk through the whole store (I guess it's to try and make you want to buy more, but for me, it's mostly just slogging around people) to get to the pickup area. Then you load up your pallets and check out. This store had utterly uninterested sales staff, but the cashiers were awesome. The home delivery people were nice and the delivery fee is only $59! I saw people trying to shove pieces that clearly didn't fit into their cars. To each their own... read more

This place is great for any kind of furniture. They make quality stuff. Yes you have to put it together but that is the fun part (At least for me). I have had some of these pieces for years and they hold up very well. Now for the food. It is a great price and the swedish meatballs are great. IKEA Distribution Center, Perryville MD is forcing all there employees to continue working in the warehouse even though all there store locations are closed. They found a loophole in what the governor said about none essential businesses closing, just so the can stay open and put all their employees at risk. Multiple people from this warehouse have had fevers and sent home, yet they refuse to shut down just so they can keep making money for themselves. It's selfish in my opinion because without your employees you have no company. It makes me sick because they are not staying open to help anyone but themselves. The employees are all being forced to wear masks too, which is okay, but those masks are being wasted in my opinion because they could be being worn by doctors and nurses who are actually making a difference at this time, Not a selfish crappy furniture company. #boycottikeaforendangeringemployees read more

This Ikea is great, though my personal experiences have all been had during the week when everybody is working. Great staff, a lot of selection, the shipping option was great. We purchased a bed frame, desk chairs and a couple desk tables from them and had them bring it up to the apartment. Was a fair price, super fast same day shipping too. We live about 1 mile away though so it makes it much easier and affordable. The food is not the best, (tastes almost the same as every other ikea i've been to) but if you're going to eat, i would highly recommend the swiss meatball dish with all the fixings. It's actually really good though it looks slightly questionable. Also, be sure to grab one or two of their Ikea bags because they are incredibly useful for laundry, grocery shopping and all the things. Those bags are so helpful. I can 1 man all my food upstairs with one of those things. It's great. Every ikea has one though I just thought I'd throw that out there too. read more

I would avoid it completely until COVID is over. Went on Sunday and they had six checkout lines open and hundreds of people in a theme park type line. We all know it's a busy season so why don't their managers know it? Employees were great and friendly and apologetic so not their fault. The long line serves to put so many people in a confined space for so long. It's not safe. It can't be the job market with so many out of work? Love the place. I used to even bring my kids to Small land. You get that one hour of sanity without running after the little ones. I wish they would do the same with teenagers. We usually go in the evening and enjoy the restaurant first and then shop. Never leave without their cinnamon rolls from the cafe! I just did my entire kitchen in Ikea. This IKEA location is great. Although it's been around longer than the South Philly one, it has everything you need. The showroom is cavernous and amazing all at the same time. But, it's tough to get through (unless you know the shortcuts) if you have to run in for one thing. The restaurant is great. Fast and (generally) friendly service. The previous time I went here, the main person service was very rude and almost threw my plate across to me. I can't recall her name, but she was female, average height, 25-35, slightly heavy build, and oozing of the attitude "I hate my job." This time I went, the main person serving was much nicer. Very pleasant and didn't try to throw dishes at me. She was blonde, thin build, older, maybe in her 40's. I got the Chicken Meatballs and hubby got the chicken florentine.
