I needed a few items so I stopped by expecting to be in and out in a matter of minutes. That was not the case, they had quite a few things on sale and I'm a true shopper so needless to say I got caught up. It was a great time to stop in, not many people and I was able to take my time and explore. I haven't been there in a while and they've made some changes so the employees were a great help in showing me the layout. They had some great sales, and I certainly got more than what I came for. I made my way to the food section of the store the kitchen was closed but they always have a good selection of snacks and frozen goods to try at an affordable price. Next time I go, I plan to try the vegetable dogs they sound interesting. I feel like I'm on an adventure every time I go to IKEA and I like that! read more

Ah! My favorite store is closing. I love IKEA. Shopping there was an all day experience. I loved their displays as they were just as much of a show piece as going to Disney for me. Shopping the different areas and checking out what piece of furniture they have paired in a particular setting whether it was the bedroom an apartment, a small living room, a media recording booth music setup or a complete setup for your home office. They had the most unique chairs, lighting and speaker decor I had seen. Their room display setup gave me fantastic ideas that made me pull out the measuring tape and take a multitude of photos with my phone. I will never forget the barbershop setup display that was remarkable. It looked exactly like a walking barbershop with the striped barbers' pole and all. As I walked through the college room display I could only imagine how much I would have loved having access to an IKEA during my college days. They had a great setup for gamers and where you can build your own gaming station. Navigating the pathway to each setup by following the arrows and clearly marked signs ensured that you would not miss anything or get lost. The kids room display was full of toys , kiddo size decor and some of the largest stuffed animals nurturing my inner child. The walk through the maze alone beat out Walmart. The over flow into the neatly organized warehouse and the dining area perfect all in one. I loved picking up food and drink from other countries from the grocery section. They kept the place fresh and exciting. I remember going there once during family and friends day and spun the wheel and I actually won a side table worth $100. I couldn't believe it. As I was leaving with my Knick knacks I prayed that with all the traffic that is coming into the store now that they are closing that somehow someway they will change their minds and stay. One more building left empty. One more store closing. More employees out of a job. May is supposed to be the closing date. I hope it changes. read more

The desk and bookshelf I got was super discounted and the store gave us great ideas for future things we may want for the house. The store is large and spacious; easy to get all your steps in. The downfall is that it is outside of Memphis, so you've got to travel for it. Overall, I found what I wanted and got it installed easily. IKEA was all the rave when a store was finally built in Memphis. It took me quite a while to actually make it out here, but recently moving to a new house finally convinced me to. In summary, I'm glad I stayed away. The store itself is nice - a massive, almost grotesque space that has literally anything and everything one could want or need for a house. The space is generally utilized well, even if the layout as a whole is a bit odd (and sometimes frustrating for not being as accessible depending on where your desired section is). However, there is never a soul who works for IKEA to be found anywhere for help or assistance; further, there is no way to call for help or assistance. One would think in a store this massive that there would be an efficient way to do this. It took us 30 minutes and three different searches for a store associate to find another store associate to help us purchase something from their store. Make that make sense ... because I can't. It took four persons to try to figure out and fix the hotdog price error. The hotdogs showed three different prices. Many items are no longer carried by IKEA. Prices are like "Neiman Marcus", over-priced,OverPriced and Over Priced! No value fir your money at all! Hot dog prices remained I corrected and the 30 families after me continued to be overcharged with the incorrect hotdog prices. So let me start by saying by saying this place is magical place! This was my very first time in an IKEA because I always thought it was an expensive store.The store layout is a literal maze to force you past almost everything.. I learned how to locate my items using the app and was talked and walked as to how things work. But there are lots of interesting and nice stuff. Found some bargains. Bring your own bags for smaller items that you cannot carry out by hand, OR be prepared to buy a bag (large and reasonably priced) if you just want a bag. Literally the most magical place on earth. It's pretty split on pricing ( either super affordable or a little high ).I went in to purchase 2 chest drawers for girls room. Also purchased some face towels once I found out this was a one stop shop. It was WAY cheaper than if I had purchase elsewhere and easy to put together! The staff are SUPER friendly and eager to help! I do suggest giving yourself a couple hours the first time you go, it's a lengthy store but absolutely worth the trip. The employees I encountered were miserable, unhelpful, unknowledgeable, Just PATHETIC. Stupid as a turnip, with less than half the personality of one. Their delivery and assembly people have NOT cooperated, NOT come for appointments, and want to run you through a MAZE on your computer -- when you FINALLY get to a human being. They are NOT helpful. I am a dedicated IKEA shopper. I have been shopping there for years, in several different states. This location is very messy and understaffed. Eating at either the cafe or the Bistro has always been an added bonus. They have great food for such a nominal price, and I love the vegetarian options. Due to Ikea's beyond affordable products, there is a downside to it. If you're looking for temporary renovations, by all means, go here and splurge. They literally have any, and everything. However, if you're looking for something that will last a lifetime, I'd suggest going to an actual furniture store that uses real wood. Now, don't get me wrong, their products aren't cheaply designed, but it isn't as solid as you'd hope for, regardless of how cheap it is. My room is probably 80% Ikea since their opening and I have no complaints. Really love ikea, this was my first time at this location. They have everything you need and I love getting decorating and organization ideas from their displays and showcases. They have a restaurant in the middle of the store which has yummy Swedish meatballs and a Swedish store. At the front they have a bistro where they sell hot dogs and pizza slices. Overall ikea is an enjoyable experience with an array of various pieces ranging from cheap flimsy material to expensive nice wood. This was my first time in an IKEA and I was thorough impressed with the designs and functionality of all of their products! It made me want to get rid of everything I own and make my whole apartment "ikea-nized". They have wonderful ideas on how to really utilize every square inch of your home and most of it was all things I couldn't have thought up myself! They have a play place for kids and they have to meet a height requirement and have to be fully potty trained to go play. Check out was fast and easy but I was a little unsettled of the sight of multiple people wearing surgical masks... the cashier assured us she wasn't sick but didn't want to get sick. She was helpful and pleasant so that made up for the less than pleasing appearance. Also, for signing up for IKEA points you get a buy one get one soft serve free and I stood in line for over 5 minutes watching the girl in the "bistro" move as slowly as she possibly could and then a customer said there were no straws out where you get your drinks and condiments and she looked at her blankly and said she didn't know where they are and then mildly stated she would call someone in a minute to tell them that that are out. I eventually got out of line and told my parents we should just go somewhere else that had a sense of urgency and respect for customers. I really wanted to try a cinnamon roll too so I was very disappointed by her attitude and work ethic. I want someone handling my food to look like they at least somewhat care. We also ate at the cafeteria in the middle of the store and I had the Swedish meatballs and they were delicious and had amazing flavor and I had it with seasoned veggies, mash potatoes and a cranberry sauce. The prices of the food is amazing and the quality of the food is outstanding. Again, the lady serving wasn't very personable at all and short with many of the customers which is never acceptable. The tables were mostly all dirty the chairs looked disgusting like they hadn't ever been cleaned and the floors looked the same way. They had a movie playing for the kids but it was shrek and out of all the kids movies to play they picked a movie packed with inappropriate innuendos and sounds you don't want to hear while eating. So I didn't really appreciate that as much as I would have almost any other kids movie that would be appropriate for toddlers as well as older kids. Thus, this location gets 2 stars because the store itself is awesome! But the people working at the cafeteria and the bistro need a wake up call to what real customer service looks like. I can't believe what a stupid concept this place is! I read about it and knew it was sort of a confusing place to navigate, but I just about lost all sense of direction. It was actually a horrible experience for me. I actually feel stupid and embarrassed for going, but I put it on my list to check out the food everyone raves about. I think this is the first lunch review I've ever done in a furniture store. The store is right next to the interstate, but you have to drive way past it, go around, and circle back in. I expected a separate entrance to the restaurant which I later discovered had one, but was locked off. What a stupid idea! So I go in the front and immediately see the bistro. I wait in line. I'm noticing I don't see any of the food everyone bragged about. All I see are two slices of old pizza. I asked the other customers in line and they told me the restaurant is in the middle of the store. What a stupid idea! There are no signs. I got lost as hell trying to find it and when I finally did, it looked like a hospital cafeteria. I noticed how small the servings were, so I ordered two complete meals, plus a side of Mac & cheese. I also paid $1 for a drink. It cost me $16.35 to have lunch here, and the Mac & cheese was the only thing I liked. I'm at the cashier and another customer who was behind me is bringing me a plate of meatballs saying I got their vegetable meatballs and swapped with me. Another customer who was in front of me said they got his order wrong. That's three people just right there they screwed up. And the first cook to ask for my order literally said "what would you like?" And turned around and walked off as I was trying to tell her. Now how the hell did I get the person's plate who was behind me in line? To top this off, I go to the drink machine and every single soda in there sucked. The cola didn't even have a name brand. It just spit foam out all over my hand. I couldn't find iced tea anywhere. Who the hell are these people that they don't serve tea? I tried every one of those nasty sodas and spit them all out. Then I just drank water after having paid my $1. It's also worth mentioning I had to walk across the room at least 7 times to refill my 6 ounce glass. The food sucked. That chicken cordon might have been better than Swanson or Banquet, but Stouffer's is much better. I at least expected them to get Swedish Meatballs right. Again Stouffer's is better, plus they give you fettuccine noodles. Mashed potatoes were ok and the vegetables were cold. The portions are way too small for the money they charge. Then when I went to leave, I was just as confused and disoriented as when I got there. Now I'm also frustrated and pissed off. I think the exit signs don't lead you to the exit, they take you further into the building. I was using the roof support system to navigate. It's hard to explain, but I got that feeling of anxiety that comes with being lost. I just wanted the fuck out! Whoever designed that map with a straight line was a moron. Why the hell do they want to confuse their shoppers like this? I felt like I wasn't in control and it made me nervous. The furniture I did look at looked like overpriced Walmart furniture. It also pisses me off that this place is exempt from paying property taxes. I have to pay mine. Walmart pays their taxes. Why should Memphis have paid so much money for this business? I'm not too sure where they find their employees but they must have been left here from when the circus was in town. I honestly don't even know how to put into words what we experienced today. Between the blatant disrespect, mockery and complete waste of time, I don't know which was worse. We came in as we do numerous times a week ever since this IKEA location opened and were treated absolutely horrendously by the cashier and whoever she had on the phone. After asking to speak to a supervisor or manager numerous times, my request was completely disregarded and ignored as she proceeded to waste our time and mock us over the phone to whomever was working in the bedding department. TWO of our items rang up at the wrong price, causing a $45+ difference in total and after explaining where the sign was with the pricing, we were repeatedly AND RUDELY told we were wrong. Then finally the cashier just said "we aren't gonna do anything about this" so we decided to head to customer service and return our purchases entirely. This is absolutely DISGUSTING behavior and all it took was ONE absolutely horrible experience to ruin this store and this company for us forever. We will NOT be returning to this location ever again. The employees clearly need a wake up call on how to handle customer interactions and how to get a superior WHEN ASKED for numerous times. This is a terrible IKEA store and it gave the entire company a horrible name. The fact that I have spent thousands of dollars here since this location has opened disgusts me almost as much as the actions of the cashier today. read more

I've now been to this location twice and can confidently say that this is a reliable place to shop for furniture. There's a sheer abundance of virtually anything you'd want or need for your home, and the ability to actually inspect and test what you're seeking to by is unbeatable. Price-wise, things are generally fairly marked and the quality is mostly what you get. Some like to dig at Ikea for this reason, but they're the best in budget shopping for what they sell, clearly beating out alternatives like supermarkets. The star deduction is two-fold: navigation and staff. In regards to navigation, the signs themselves aren't very clear about where exactly you need to go to find a certain area or even the restrooms. As for the staff, well as has often been mentioned by other users, they're pretty hit-or-miss. All things considered, I will continue visiting this location for the foreseeable future as they have met my needs quite nicely. Yay!! There's finally an IKEA in Memphis and I finally got to check it out for myself!! Its a fair distance from the suburbs where I live, but worth the trek to check out all the cool design elements and get inspiration on how to style rooms. I enjoyed the cafeteria which had quite a few BBQ offerings, keeping in mind the US Southern location of this store, but one thing I did observe that this store seemed to be lacking in was a calendar of events, which my hometown of Orlando's store seems to have tons more of!!! 6 months ago I moved to IKEA-less Nashville and was going through slight withdrawals. My sister and I drove 3 hours, to the Memphis location and when I saw those glorious flags flying, I was giddy with excitement! This IKEA is all on one level, my stores back in CA were all two story. Being all on one level, things were easy to navigate through, but super crowded. We knew we were going to be bringing practically the whole store home, and the cart was a little tricky to navigate, with all of the people there. Being on one level, I felt like it was a little more claustrophobic, than the two story stores I'm used to. Overall it was a good store, easy to navigate, and laid out well. The staff was abundant, friendly, and eager to assist. I just can't wait for the Nashville store to open! read more

SO happy to have an IKEA within 100 miles!! Probably 50% of our furnishing and other household items are from this flat-pack empire. Frequented the New Jersey locations back in the day (always wondered what that giant blue building was on trips to and from Newark airport). More recently shopping at IKEA meant a road-trip to Chicago or St Louis, and we would totally do it! I really like IKEA, of course you get what you pay for. Apple makes phones with a planned "end of life", same thing for IKEA. This stuff will only last so long, but when it finally falls apart you're not even disappointed, you just have a reason to get something new! So much fun stuff with bizarre names to look at, and you can get lunch mid-shopping trip! Innovative furniture (especially for tiny apartments), fish paste in a tube, awesome lighting, delish coffee served by their robot barista. Love it! This location has a single level layout, bit different from other stores. I also didn't see everything that might be available at larger IKEA stores. Otherwise this is standard IKEA goodness. My one star deduction, the level of service is noticeably lower than other IKEA locations. The other night (Saturday) there were 2 checkouts open. Cashiers going on break just shut down and wandered away, managers looked at the tremendously long lines and did nothing. Heavy security presence in the parking lot makes you feel safe and worried all at the same time. We have been to Ikea all over the US but ironically never in Sweden. Mainly because we flew into Stockholm and then drove up to Esko for a wedding. This store has a unique one level design without a parking garage as it doesn't need one on about 30 acres roughly behind Costco. The signage on G'town is just a small Ikea Way street sign although off 40 there is the bright blue building with an enormous sign. Fortunately I live just in Lakeland so I had no trouble finding it as I drive by twice a day on my way to work. The pathway thru the store reminds me of Candyland where you keep backing up but eventually you travel thru many many office, bedroom and kitchen designs until you reach the cafeteria. There are rooms along the way filled with home goods, lamps, candles, odd little fake plants, kitchen wares... After having the meatballs, mashed potatoes, rather overcooked to mushy frozen vegetable and a drink we walked thru the rest of the labyrinth until we reached the checkout. Note: We went about 7 pm on a Saturday. The cafe seemed understaffed and no salads or desserts were in the cases. Lots of photos of them were everywhere and a few people had actually snagged a salad before us. It seemed like an operational issue as the layout was built efficiently and they even had tray carts to take to the tables. read more

Surprisingly it wasn't as packed as I thought it would be and we got lost in it about 3 or 4 times. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE - Lines were Long and unfortunately, the store was short staffed (which I fully understand, in these current times). We waited in line 15+ minutes. We were next and the cashier told us she was going to lunch and would not be ringing us up. There were approximately 10 customers behind us and no previous warning! We had to go to the back of existing lines and wait another 15-20 minutes. Our new cashier was a very kind and efficient young lady. We made small talk and for some reason, (no, I didn't mention the previous cashier) she said to me "have you seen our customer service reviews?" I told her, I just happened to be looking at them last night and they weren't that good. She said to me "yes, they are terrible and it's so embarrassing. The management just doesn't care about the customers anymore." I really enjoy the "bargains," I'm just not sure they are reason enough to return, again. And, lastly, 50% of our list was "out of stock," which I also understand, due to the effects of the Country shutting down for a year. Doesn't make it an less annoying, though. Come on, IKEA, you can do better. read more
