Whew, an IKEA trip is exhausting but well worth it. For around $100 I got a coffee table, a clock, some shelves, picture frames, kitchen utensils, wine glasses, a shower curtain, and a few other odds and ends. You just can't beat the prices on most items. I also love the variety of styles throughout the store. The experience itself is a little nuts, as the area is very busy, the parking lot is a total zoo, and people tend to lack any awareness to others. IKEA is the devil incarnate. Big, tiring, overwhelming. But cheap, fun and full of cool looking Euro-furniture and extremely clever space saving ideas. I have assembled more IKEA furniture than I care to think about in my lifetime. But it's never difficult and looks far better than it actually is. During this pandemic the local store is closed understandably. Now they have reopened for "click and collect". Place your order online and pick up at store. IMPOSSIBLE. Have been trying all week to place an order to pick up but no matter what time of day (have tried multiple times a day) it says they can take no more orders for the day. Ok, how about the next day or day after but they don't give you that choice. Tried calling the store multiple times however it's a computer runaround. I finally used 0000 for the extension and got to a live person. She was rude and not helpful AT ALL. May need to look elsewhere for a media unit. read more

I always have a great time at IKEA especially the millenia location. It's basically like a in person catalog that not only shows you great furniture but also sets up displays giving you an idea of where the items can look so it opens up your mind to try new trends. I love that it flows through the categories of your household and includes all things that go with that specific category down to the pillows! Love it...the furniture, food, the sheer size of it (ridiculous), the prices, the clearance section... It does get tiring, though. I want everything and buy next to nothing when I come here (ridiculous). Hubs and I went to their Julbord Holiday Feast a few Decembers ago. Holy Prinskorv Sausages! And a million (or so it seemed) other items. Really delicious and really badly set up and cramped. Big fan of IKEA here... I was lucky enough to be there on opening day and one of the first few thousand Orlandians in the door...with that, each guest that walked in was handed a small envelope with a prize that could range from a free hot dog to a $250 gift card! I usually am not the luckiest person, but after stepping onto the escalator to the showroom, I ripped open the prize to reveal a $150 gift card, good for the Orlando IKEA! Score!! Since then, I've relished many a rainy day browsing the show floor, gathering ideas for future decorating of our still-quite empty newlywed abode, but I have used the card on various items, such as shelving, our coffee table and room accessories, like picture frames. Additionally, I found a real steal in the home gardening section - metal planters for .25 each! No joke, I bought 8 and they were the bases for our wedding centerpieces. On top of the fun experience, they serve really yummy and affordable food. For a quick meal, try the hot dog combo or cinnamon rolls downstairs, but for a more relaxing time, try the meatball meal upstairs! Soooo worth it. read more

I was introduced to IKEA about 8 year ago when I was visiting Long Island and a friend of mine asked if I wanted to go to IKEA for the day... I asked, "whats IKEA and why would I go for the whole day?". I soon found out why you would or could spend a whole day at I IKEA! Forget the higher priced furniture places... most of America has to shop on a budget and IKEA is the place to go. Most of their stuff is great but you do have to try out the some of it to make sure it will last. Some items I have purchased have not been the greatest but 90% of what they sell truly lasts a long time. Their design is great and fits into my style of decorating. I can highly recommend the Billy Bookcases, the Besta Entertainment systems, all of their sofas, beds, and lights. If you have never been, expect to visit for about 3 hours. Its that big of a store and there is lots to see. They even have a place to eat on the showroom level. They are known for their Swedish Meatballs! Yum! Their chocolate cake is not bad either! I have bought many great items from IKEA and totally enjoy the shopping experience. They do not have a lot of sales help since the store is mostly self serve. Everything has a tag on it... you write down the information and self serve location on your shopping lists which they provide, and then go get the stuff yourself in the market hall or self serve warehouse. If you do need help, look around for a yellow shirt person and they will try to help you if they know the area you need help in. If they don't know the area, they will try to find someone who does. Again, remember... its a self serve store so don't expect service like you would get at Bloomingdales! You have to do a lot of it yourself! And remember... you have to put it all together once you get it home! They do offer delivery if you can't take it with you as well as information on a outside company that can put it all together for you. HUGE selection of reasonable priced home goods. The location here is easy to get to and just far away enough from the mall to not have to deal with as much of the traffic madness. I have purchased and been satisfied with multiple IKEA items, ranging from inexpensive furniture to the simple $1.29 BORRIS doormats to well designed duvet covers and sheets. IKEA is the intersection of choice, value and quality. The choice here is unmatched and you will fall in love with some of your purchases. Swedish meatballs are a pretty good stop as you finish up with the first floor too. I show everyone who comes over my POÄNG chair and how comfortable it is. They are amazing and super comfortable. My most recent trip included the purchase of a comforter and wine rack, which both have been solid buys. For the comforter, I have been looking around at numerous stores. I found the best deal at HomeGoods but the selection was poor. Bed Bath and Beyond had a better selection, but the price range for a down comforter seemed to be in the $200-$300 range and even with a 20% off coupon I thought the prices were too much. I wanted to give IKEA a look since I found several online that seemed to be good buys. The store selection is top notch for every category they sell and comforters were no exception. I chose the cooler version of the BLEKVIDE 90% down comforter for $129.99. I like how thin it is and the fluffy down feels great and keeps you warm enough during the Florida summer. For the wine side, I have the HUTTEN wine stands that don't hold champagne well. I have been looking around for the right wine stand and found one I liked at World Market. I thought the price was a little high and put this on my list for the next IKEA shopping trip. The selection of wine holders is very limited, but the OMAR bottle holder was perfect. It holds 28 bottles and for $29.99 is a great value. The OMAR line is modular and there are other pieces you can buy to match or build on to each other. The price is great and it was easy to build and is holding up well. I clicked, I paid, I waited an entire day for the second email telling me it was ready for pick up, guess what! The place is overwheling, yes. Can you find lots of stuff you want but don't really need, yes. Is there low cost furniture you have to put together yourself that takes 7 hours, yes. All in all, Ikea is alright but you have to have A LOT of patience. We bought a dresser but the top part was dented on the corner so we exchanged it. You MUST make sure to check your exchanges well. They will give you someone else's return and you won't realize it until you get home. So back to the store I went and pretty much demanded for a brand new one I understand this is lower cost pieces but it shouldn't look used. Ikea is overwhelming and exhausting. It feels like you are going to Disney World, there is so much to look at, a lot of walking, crowds, and long lines. Impossible to view everything even if you plan for a full day, and you should definitely plan a full day to visit here. Everyone raves so much about IKEA so I was very excited to finally get to see what all the fuss is about. Yes, there are some amazing prices and great rooms to give you good ideas for decorating every room in your home. Similar to the Home and Patio show, without an admission charge. You will still invest time and effort to actually getting items you pick out. We were shopping for the Pax closet organizers. Unfortunately the planning tools are not very user friendly so it took hours to put together the units we wanted. Finally we did and then realized you have to put together a list of where to find every item in the warehouse to "pick" your items. We wanted to purchase and pick up later when we had a truck but you cannot do this, If you purchase you have to take with you that same day or have delivered. Unfortunately to have it delivered is rather pricey, locally it was $100 and a couple of hours away where we live, it was $350 so not worth the sale price to purchase that day. To purchase online and have it delivered from the warehouse was a little better at $114 but half of the items we wanted were out of stock for purchase online, which you do not get informed of until you are trying to check out. It would be helpful if the website would let you know what is and is not available online before you put together a large unit only to have it edit is when you try to purchase. You cannot even put it on back order, if you attempt to buy something and it is out of stock, you only have the option to delete or add it to a shopping list for later. The family savings program is worth signing up for, since it is free and I am pretty much sure everyone who goes to Ikea joins this program. It is a way to make you feel like you are getting an even better deal on your purchases. The family cafeteria is just that, a cafeteria, but we had to try to much talked about Swedish meatballs. They were okay, but certainly not worth standing in the long cafeteria line to go back for again.I would skip eating here unless you just have to eat during your shopping experience. So here are some tips from my first time experience visiting Ikea. Have a plan for specific items you want to shop for. Create your shopping list online in advance. Check in store availability just before going to the store. Bring a vehicle big enough to carry every item you intend to purchase. Wear comfortable shoes, bring some strong assistants, and go in prepared for your mission. If you want to browse for other fun finds, plan a full day visit and eat a good breakfast before you go.This will reduce hunger anxiety and stress. We as a family love to go here and browse. You just never know what you might find that you never thought you needed when you wander through Ikea. Overall, it is a very clean store, associates are always around to help, and aisles and bins are clearly marked for when you need to find your planned purchases in the warehouse section. The food court is always seems clean as well, and we just love the meatballs. I signed up for the Ikea Family card (which is free), and always grab my free cup of coffee when I visit the store. I do wish they had coke products, but that is a side note and personal preference. Overall value of amount of food and taste is fantastic. The best times to visit and shop Ikea is when you knowingly want to make a good sized purchase, and they are doing the offer with free food during that weekend if you purchase a certain amount (usually $100-$150). We have done it once or twice, and you can bring the entire family over to eat as long as it is all on the same bill. Overall, for all the minor annoyances of having to put together a few tedious pieces of furniture, the value far outweighs the inconvenience. read more

It's hard to review Ikea. You dread the mass of people, long lines, and the inevitable frustration at putting together any furniture you happen to purchase. But, you also love the showrooms, the prices and all of the possibilities. My wife and I needed a new bed frame and mattress. So we headed out there Saturday and Sunday. We knew what we wanted, though we ended up NOT getting the memoryfoam mattress, at the advice of one of Ikea's friendly employees. Instead, got a coil because he said memoryfoam keeps in body heat, which I hate! Boy was he right! I LOVE our new coil mattress!! I also love our new Brimnes bed. It's simple, cheap but has tons of underneath storage, which we need since we live in a studio apartment downtown. For me the best part of IKEA is that I can eat there. There, I said it. They have awesome salmon with dill/lemon and cute little desserts. It's just fun. Sometimes they have special days like so: buy over $100 worth of furniture and they reimburse your meal. Say what? That means you could eat $50 worth of food I guess. But that would be hard to do. :) Don't do it! However, we have decided to not buy any of their furniture from now on. Over time it doesn't stand up too well. And after all the hard work of putting 100 different pieces together, those pieces better be made of real trees so I can be the cool grandma handing down works of art. So, this was the 3rd visit (definitely less huge and intimidating the more you go) and I actually purchased something. I was able to find the items I wanted right away, go into the warehouse and pull the boxes not a cart to checkout. I do recommend having several pictures of your items locations, and if you really need something, having a backup in case your preferred item is out of stock. Everything was going great until checkout. There were 30 people in line and only 2 lanes open. I tried to understand this, but this is a huge warehouse store with tons of foot traffic. Why not more lanes? After 25 minutes in line, they finally opened a 3rd lane which caused a small stampede and left me with a bruised hip when I got pushed (and I was just staying put!). After checking out, I rolled my purchases out to the loading area and had to find an employee. He agreed that I could just leave my cart while I went to get my car. After parking, I had to search around for another employee to help me load my boxes. While a little sketchy on customer service, I would still totally go back. read more

Great place for cheap furniture. I get a little annoyed with their showroom though. Don't expect to just walk in and walk out. The showroom is designed to get you to walk through the entire store... If you walk fast its probably a 15 minute walk and that's with out stopping which is impossible. I always have to stop and look at all the cool *cheap* stuff! My OCD geared into overdrive each time I was stormtrooped by a family of 5 in Disney gear, elbowing their way toward the buffet to engage in the "Meatball Maul". You love IKEA or you don't. I do. Once you get the concept of the layout and figure out the shortcuts, its easy to get in and get what you want and get out - but for your first few visits you are simply overwhelmed. Their stuff is very affordable, generally well designed and the selection is truly vast. The restaurant always has yummy noms and I'm addicted to the meatballs and lingonberry jam. My kitchen is all IKEA and driving back and forth to get the stuff I needed was a pain (You always forget something dammit...) but that restaurant made the drive bearable... you can literally spend hours in the place if you want to. Not everything is 100% awesome, I have one rug that shrank and wrinkled like crazy when washed and I pitched it - but yeah, it was 5 bucks. So, once in a while they sell a lemon I guess. What can I say, I'm an IKEA addict. Not only do I love the sleek and modern designs and options, but it is such a great option for a young couple to furnish a home with nice looking pieces. I love that I can recycle most of the furniture, when I choose. Thank goodness my boyfriend is a wiz at the "assembly required' part. I did attempt to assemble my desk by myself... well that was a huge mistake. Oh, it totally ended up backwards, so I had to ask for an adult to help me fix it. It's been a bit wobbly since, but lol, I can blame myself for that one. We currently have another desk, bedroom set, TV stand and coffee table, bookshelf and some curtains, pillows, knick-knacks and what-nots. These are all holding up very well (ahem, since I did not put them together. Being an apartment/townhome dweller for the past several years, I love the design layouts and storage options here. We totally make a day of this too, traveling from Jax. After the first level, we head to the cafeteria for some meatballs and then continue on the rest of the way. And yes, just like the 30 Rock episode where Liz and Chris argue, (a three to four hour shopping trip takes a bit out of you) there is usually a bit of that by the time we get to the warehouse... but after packing up the car and getting everything situated at home, we are always pleased with the outcome. :) Tip! It combines all the visual appeal of a high end furniture store without all that stuffiness. [2] As you follow the little trail on a journey of rooms you wish were yours (or as you stray off it and try to find shortcuts), you can sit, fluff, pretend, play, shop, measure, and document your journey. [3] The prices are right! You pay for the product, not the sales people, so yes you have to take a little initiative, but it's not that bad . . . and the lack of a pesky salesman asking me "what color the paint is in the room you're shopping for" is more than I could ask for. [4] There is food at the end of your journey. Cafeteria-style, options for vegetarians, kid meals, and a pretty delicious selection. The Bad: [1] It's hard to pronounce the swedish names of the furniture, so just do like you do when you go out for French food and point to the one you want. [2] The quality of some items can be questionable, so it's encouraged that you find out what materials are being used, and get tactile with it! The Ugly: [1] If you don't know how to put furniture together based on a visual manual, you're screwed. Hire somebody. [2] Some people don't take note of the daycare center at the front of the store, and they drag their children along for the journey. It's very easy to spend hours in the store wandering through all of the showrooms. Each time I go to a different room I'm suddenly inspired and feel the need to redecorate! All that being said. My boyfriend and I bought a wonderful entertainment center from Ikea a while back. It was $300, but so worth it! I also purchased my desk and desk chair from there as well. I really love the idea of IKEA but honestly get so frustrated w/ the fact that they NEVER have enough cashiers open. After spending so much time in the showroom & marketplace, why on earth would I want to stand 7-8 people deep in a line? I'm already feeling frazzled at this point; many times, I've abandoned my purchases & walked out completely irritated. I've literally abandoned 1000's of dollars in goods when I see the checkout. When I asked an employee today if another checkout could be opened, the response was that 2 cashiers on a week-day, mid-day was all payroll would allow. Oh, really? Since I just abandoned $550 worth of items, the person in charge of staffing may want to re-think & re-strategize what dep'ts. they go heavy on staffing (hint: less people building displays & more people handling checkouts may just increase your profit margin). read more

Oh how I love IKEA. I've always called IKEA the Disney World of shopping. Recently I stopped in and had lunch with my son before browsing around. The meatballs were cold but still edible and both our orders had been initially made incorrect but quickly fixed. I love the expanded dining area that was made. No worries about finding a table. Then my son wanted to go in the kid room so I went down and signed him in. You get a hour of time, so that gave me just enough time to go get the items I needed, check out and take everything to the car. I came back and picked him up which he exclaimed he had so much fun! Nothing I can say more about the "do it yourself-ness", quality or overall crazy factor of this place. However, what I can add is... CHILD CARE! Yes, if your small one is under 54 inches tall and potty trained you get an hour free of your child to do what you like. Small Fry loves the kid's club and the big attraction for her is the giant ball pit. Hygienic? Probably not, but she loves it so and it totally wears her out so I get a quiet ride home. Now, if you join the FREE IKEA FAMILY "club" at any of the kiosks throughout the store, you can get 90 min of child care and a free cup of coffee at every visit! You also get a discount on certain items, that change monthly, at the register. Remember, you get 1% of your total purchase to use for your next visit if you use your debit card! Hmmm, more discount, free coffee and more child care minutes. No brainer! read more

I was so confused as to how this place worked! For you first time visitors, go upstairs to the showroom and write down the items you would like to purchase, then go downstairs and gather it. Proceed to check out, where you will find a long line and an unhappy cashier... Plan on spending way too much time here, it's huge! The prices are pretty good and I could see finding a few treasures from time to time. read more
