This review is for the "click & collect" system at IKEA. It is HORRIBLE. I arrived on time to wait 1 hour and 45 minutes for my purchases. There were maybe 30-40 people ahead of me and quickly many, many more after me. Why book so many people for a one hour window? An employee walked through the line making sure everyone had received their second email that their purchases were ready for pick up, so that wasn't the issue. I overheard her tell one customer that the line easily gets to 2 hours later in the day. Ridiculous!! Lower the number of customers per hour allotment. We are supposed to be socially distancing not standing in a 2 hour line up. (Kudos to all the customers for staying 2m apart). read more

The original Ikea that served the Lower Mainland for so many years and now dwarfed by the Coquitlam location, it still holds a dear place in my heart. It has everything you need and is closer to get to from most parts of Vancouver. Yes, it's big box. Yes, everyone's got it in their apartments. But I love the silly Swedish names, I love the $1 hot dogs and cones, I (used to) love the ballroom... and I LOVE IKEA! The IKEA in Richmond is a gigantor among competing furniture stores. And, whether you're looking for something specific for your home, or just looking for some fun on a rainy day, this store is worth a visit. It's fun to set off down the prelaid pathway and pretend to actually live in all the perfectly set up little demo rooms staff has put together throughout the space. Even if you just need some inspiration for your interior designing dreams and don't intend to buy anything, I find I often walk away from IKEA with a new creative decor idea for my own place... or a lovely shopping bag full of new (and cheap!) stuff! read more

IKEA - Home Decor Near Me - Richmond, British Columbia

I understand that the pandemic has affected operations, but no other retailer seems to be managing as poorly as IKEA right now. Their Facebook and Twitter profiles are chock full of customer complaints, and there is no way to get in contact with customer service agents. The phone line is either busy or randomly disconnects. The online chat is never available. No one answers emails. I can't even put my order in, and the online system makes no sense. First when you go to check out, even if your store has all items in stock and you wish to use "click and collect" (their curbside pickup service), the checkout system automatically assumes you are going to opt for parcel delivery. Supposedly their stock for parcel delivery is sent via some unknown warehouse that has very little in stock. Many of the items in your cart are removed for being out of stock at this warehouse. Only then are you able to choose between parcel delivery, and click and collect. After you choose click and collect, there is no way to add back the items that were removed as undeliverable from the parcel delivery warehouse, even though they are in stock at the store you wish to pick up from. Also, at this point you are notified that click and collect is not available for your store. All the time slots are full, "please try again later." And parcel delivery will take a minimum of 6 weeks. So after spending hours carefully selecting items for my order, I've spent hours more trying to get through their customer service phone line and their online chat, to no avail. And judging from the comments I've seen from other customers, even if you are able to land a time slot for pickup, you could be waiting two hours or more. Delivery may be even worse, it seems people are left waiting for months with no updates. If IKEA can't manage their order volumes at this time, they need to shut down their website until they're able to solve their logistics issues and deliver a product. I've been able to make purchases big and small from other major retailers including Costco (which has obviously been slammed from the start of the pandemic), Best Buy, Sportchek, Amazon, Home Depot, etc, all with zero delays or frustrations... which makes IKEA's issues all the more baffling. read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! The order was not delivered as scheduled. Phoned to reschedule, which was a week later. Didn't arrive again. Hour and a half on hold with no answer. Next day, after a half hour, was told the agent "should have" communicated the reschedule info to the delivery company but didn't. So, let's see if they can get it right on the third try. Worst store on the planet some staff are curt or rude and see u as an annoyance when you ask for directions, maps are small and hard to read , floor plans have you walking in circles like a mouse, numbers in warehouse are out of order you have to pick up items yourself pay then take to delivery desk but if you order online to avoid the hassle it takes a week to deliver cause it comes from distribution center. Paid for click and collect at this location only to find out that the items we had ordered were not in stock. First of all how does that even happen? Why is the online ordering system not linked to the inventory? Anyway, pretty minor deal all things considered - we just expect we won't be charged for the items - but no we do get charged and instead now we get to wait in the returns line. The click and collect counter tells us there's nothing they can do. So we get a returns ticket and now get to wait in the returns line for another half an hour, after the already 15 minute wait to pick up our stuff. Will they refund the click and collect fee? Ha - nope! Seriously Ikea, what's the point of paying for click and collect if I literally could have picked up the items 10x faster myself. I dunno why I even bother coming to Ikea, it's like this everytime - disorganized, busy, and extremely poor customer service. I've been to Sweden and Ikea stores are the exact opposite of what you would actually find in Sweden. read more

Ikea the store, with all its amenities, is great. I've spent a lot of time and money here, and I like their furniture and most of their sales associates. I like that I can get a drink at the cafeteria. I do not like their delivery. Good grief, what a clusterfuck. Minus 3 stars for you, Ikea. Usually I drive my own Ikea swag home, but this purchase weighed half a ton, so I paid the $70 for delivery and gave them two phone numbers, just in case there were any problems. On the day of delivery, I waited at my new home - which didn't have heat. This was in February. An hour into the 5-9 delivery window they call to say they're not coming. "Yeah, the truck broke down at 10 this morning." "WTF?! It's 6pm and your truck's been broken down for 8 hours and you didn't think to call sooner?" "We called the number you gave us." "What about the other number?" *Silence* "Oh." /facepalm No apology, of course. I was rudely told to reschedule. TFB. So I reschedule and call Ikea customer service. They get an earful from me and refund my delivery charge. Delivery day #2 arrives, 5-9 delivery window. I get a call at noon. "Are you home? Can we deliver now?" "No, I'm at work. And no you can't. My delivery window is from 5-9." "But we're in your area and want to deliver now. Can you drive over here?" "No, I can't. You can deliver my goods as agreed. I'll see you at 5." "So we can't deliver now?" *blink blink* "No." So 5 rolls around and they call and say they'll be there at 6. Okay, no problem. They show up at 7:45. No follow up, no apology, no nothing. During this time I called Ikea customer service to complain, and they let me know that Dynamex does their deliveries. Dynamex, your delivery guys are sloppy and rude. Ikea, you get a negative review for contracting out to a company that's sloppy and rude. They dropped off my stuff and left. Fortunately they didn't damage my floors or walls or anything. This IKEA is a FABULOUS place to participate in a domestic dispute with your partner! Sometimes when we feel too comfortable and happy in our relationship, my boyfriend and I will make the trek out to IKEA to argue over moderately priced TV stands and lamps that don't ever really work as well as you want them to. My favourite aspect of fighting in IKEA is that we can totally change up our environment if we want to. Sometimes I feel like arguing about how he 'never thinks of me first' while testing the firmness of the Sultan Hansbo; other times he likes to scream at me about 'turning into my mother' while comparing the functionality of the Billy Bookcase to the Expedit. You can get so creative! Don't forget to fill up on the cafeteria style food before hand; the stomach ache and impending diarrhea that result after eating the rubbery meatballs will encourage ill will and bad tempers. I order mugs online. They charged $20 to do so. My friend picked them up and they were not wrapped ready to go. She had to wrap them and find a box! And the fine you $20 ! We've all had that crappy Lak side table, the clunky Billy bookcase, the worn-out Poang chair - we're all in it together. As I sit in one of Ikea's ready-made rooms contemplating which pseudo-modern furnishing will be best suited in my vintage-filled home, I am never really "inspired". And yet I always manage to find something that will somehow fit into my lifestyle (with the help of ikeahackers.net, naturally). The attitude of customer service is "its not my fault". You can judge a place in 5 minutes by going to take a look at the Ikea returns department. There were so many people there waiting to return their crap, that you had to take a ticket to get in line! Don't go here, Ikea has gone straight downhill after years of labour and union battle. Goodbye IKEA Richmond on Sweden Way. Hello IKEA Richmond on Jacombs Road. The new store is adjacent to the previous one. I came here last week (April 25, 2012) for the grand opening. All I can say is "This sh*t is bananas, B-A-N-A-N-A-S!" I can only assume that IKEA dropped some serious coin on this new store. The large sign out front can be seen from kilometres away. I saw at least a dozen auxiliary RCMP directing traffic and they even had a sign on the north end of the Knight Street bridge warning that there was a special event and to use alternate routes. I've never been inside the IKEA Coquitlam store so I can't compare it to the new Richmond location. This new store is absolutely huge. I have to admit, I was a little envious of the kids in the ballroom. It seems huge in comparison to the ballroom in the old store and there was even a lineup of parents and kids to get in. The kids inside seemed to be having an awesome time. The new restaurant on the upper floor is the size of a mall food court. It's very bright with large windows and opens up over the lower floor. There's also a cute kids area with child-sized tables and chairs. The kitchen is huge and has two sides serving the same food in order to be able to serve patrons twice as fast. The food is just OK, but is priced reasonably. It's a good way to fuel up before a long trek through the showroom. The showroom is also on the upper floor and is extensive with lots of furniture layout and decorating ideas. Even if you're not an IKEA fan, I think it's worth coming here to get some ideas if you plan to re-decorate. After the showroom, you go back down to the lower floor to the marketplace. I love the little knick-knacks that can be found here as well as reasonably priced and stylish tableware, kitchenware, and lighting options. Past the showroom is the self-serve warehouse. This is much bigger than the one in the old store and, as such, they are able to carry a larger number of items than before. No need to make the trek out to Coquitlam any more for that elusive piece of Swedish furniture. During my trip through the marketplace, there was an announcement: "...there is a code 99 at the top of the escalator." A few minutes later, there was another announcement, "...the code 99 is over." A friend Googled it later and informed me that "code 99" means lost child and, when the child is found, they announce that it is over. Whew, another one of life's mysteries solved. I was a little disappointed in IKEA's "Everyone is a Coupon" campaign. I asked an employee about it as we were checking out and she said that there was no additional discount at the cashier, and that the deals were only on certain items. I guess I was hoping for something like 10% off per person you bring with you (up to 2 people) or something to that effect. In any case, this is a pretty cool new store. I can only hope the traffic dies down soon. Tip: Don't get a cart from the parking lot if you plan on looking around in the showroom upstairs. It can be a pain to take 2 elevators from the parking lot to the showroom level. Instead, get a cart at the lower marketplace level once you've looked around the upstairs showroom. Food for thought: I wonder if they'll rename Sweden Way now that the IKEA is no longer there. How about "Home Depot Way"? :P read more

I have to say the 4 starts are really 5 stars for the staff at the Richmond store, I was there recently and all of the staff I asked for assistance were very helpful and considerate. The experience with Ikea (the company) was less than alright. I ordered a bed frame and requested delivery the next day. The problem is that the bed frame arrived without absolutely any hardware in the boxes (i.e. no screws, etc to put the bed together). I called the general Ikea number (because it seems you can't speak to a store directly?) and was told I would have to go to Ikea in Richmond (about one hour trip for me by transit each way) to pick up my hardware...this is despite the fact I had just paid nearly 70 dollars to deliver a relatively small item, which was not fully delivered to me. Or, Ikea could send me the hardware by mail, which would take a week. I vow not to go near Ikea even for plastic cups. read more

I guess I will never learn my lesson about ikea. I always go there with the biggest of expectations and then leave feeling unfulfilled and never satisfied. maybe I am just growing up. I was there today looking for things for my new digs and I should have known better than to go on a Sunday afternoon. the crowds were obnoxious. I you wanted to look at something you would have to fight off another couple to get a good view...... and then the worst happened.... I GOT HUNGRY.... so we b-lined it straight for the restaurant to have some Swedish meat balls and when we arrived there was about 50 people in line and only one lady dishing out the balls.... now what? So we made a rash decision that we would run to the cafeteria by the checkout and have a 2 hot dog and drink special to tide us over.... disaster.. there was twice as many people in line there than there was upstairs. At that moment we made a pact to never visit Ikea unless two things occur ; 1) Go on a friday night when no one else would be around. 2) eat before we get there. read more

Worst EXPERIENCE OF MY ENTIRE LIFE. Came here to set up a pax for my vanity room. Spent 5 hours with an ikea employee putting together my pax closet etc. I am not sure what was wrong with her because she screwed something up and had to do the entire invoice again, which made me loose the delivery date which was for the next day to 2 weeks... LIKE WTF!! Anyways thats not even the BIGGEST PROBLEM here, I went and paid for my invoice and i made sure to tell her that i want EVERY SINGLE SERVICE they have to put all my stuff together, deliver and mount everything. I get a call a week later from the delivery company telling me that i did not pay for the assemble or mounting and only paid for delivery and that i had to go ALL THE WAY BACK TO RICHMOND and pay for those services. I said theres no way i am doing that and than he told me they wouldn't even be able to deliver the stuff until the end of the month.... like how could this be happening to me .. i just did not understand .. Bottom line THEY HAVE THE WORST DELIVERY SERVICE IN THE ENTIRE WORLD. It is not ikea the delivers the products it is actually a company that they pay to do so. Went for breakfast at 9:30 am when they just opened. The heart waffles as cute as they are were hard and chewy, like someone made them at 7 am then left them out for 3 hours. The seating area wasn't cleaned the night before...took a while to find a crumb free table (remember the restaurant just opened). The kids play area in the restaurant was just plain nasty, there was dried milk? Dripping down the side of the toys, sticky syrup all over things that babies touch...gross. Went to the self check out, unfriendly Indian woman standing there eyeing everyone, but offering no help. Apparently I forgot a $4 item in my cart and she asks in a demanding way if I plan on paying for it. Uh no lady I just paid $350 for stuff for my living room, I was planning on stealing something worth $4.....seriously. IKEA get it together. read more

**This is a food review of the Ikea restaurant** I don't know expect much from Ikea as it is a furniture store. I do like that they have a lot of options and when you think about it, they have a really balanced meal for a whole lot less than you would pay elsewhere. Quality isn't the best but you do get a pretty good meal for $7. We usually come here for the hot dog and ice cream after our shopping. Not much you can complain about there. Great deal for when you just want a quick bite. This is the one of the few places that I can think of that still offers the swirl cone! Used to come here for their $1 breakfasts! I had bought an entire Pax wardrobe set from Ikea, but I bought an extra drawer. Then they had a strike for literally a year and a half. During that time I made about three separate trips to try to return it but they didn't have the returns department open "because of the strike". Anyways, I kept the receipt for at least a year and just recently misplaced it. The strike just ended and I tried to return the drawer but they would not let me since the drawer is no longer in circulation. SERIOUSLY!?! You close your returns department for a year and a half and then won't even give me store credit because you don't carry the product anymore? Total BS. Anyways, if that receipt turns up, I'm going to return the whole wardrobe set with all the shelves and drawers... Do yourself a favour, don't shop at Ikea. read more

My boyfriend and I have been in contact with IKEA Richmond since last week regarding purchasing the white BEKANT stand/sit desk - we had wanted to purchase this during the desk sale, as it was on sale for $254 until August 22nd. Unfortunately they sold out during the sale, however they told my boyfriend they would expecting a shipment by Aug. 23rd. From Aug. 23rd onwards, each day my boyfriend went to call or visit the store, as the staff had constantly told him they were expecting a shipment the next day. Each day that he had contacted them, they told him the truck would be coming in the next day, so he continuously called or visited, believing the staff's promise. Last night he was told that the truck was coming in definitely and that the new shipment of tables would be available today. They also said they would HOLD one for him, as they knew he had been patient. Well, this morning he received a call from staff, stating that the truck arrived and the table they had on hold for him, was available and ready for pickup. When he arrived, a different lady told him that all 30 of the desks had magically sold out, and that apparently they do not hold items. What a huge waste of time, IKEA Richmond. Above all, the staff were absolutely and utterly rude to my boyfriend, stating that there was nothing they could do, and that's "just the way it is." What terrible customer service - do not shop here. Do not rely on their customer service, as they are bafflingly useless; they did not even offer any resolve to this. read more

The hot dog fast food stand was good until they started boiling their hot dogs. The roasted hot dogs were the best but now they are boiled and gross. The line ups are now gone. I am pretty sure it's because no one likes boiled hot dogs. I definitely won't be buying hot dogs again from here. Go back to roasting the dogs please. read more

When I first moved here, I went to IKEA on a weekly basis. When I told people I went to the one in Richmond, two people told me I was going to the ghetto IKEA. Really? It seemed, and still seems, fine to me. We found a deal on a rug in the As-Is section. Don't overlook this section, tucked away right by the warehouse. Good finds are to be found here. For instance our rug, the tag said "dirty." But it's a multi-color shag rug. There's no visible spots... We later discovered that we got it at a quarter of the original price- score! We've also gotten a display futon from this section for half off. So again, always stop in the as-is section. The rest of the store is a little crazy. Did you know there's an elevator in the wall art section? I don't remember where it lets you out on the 2nd level (maybe the desk section), but I do consider it a good shortcut if you're going back to look at one item. As for the cinnamon rolls by the checkout. I think IKEA has perfected the cinnamony smell, but not yet the flavor. They're good, but they are just never as good as I want them to be. If that makes any sense. I try to resist them now in favor of another one of their low-priced snacks. read more

I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with Ikea right now. I love the myriad of affordable furniture, which is making it very easy to set up my business at its new location. I hate the fact that every time I go through the place I can't help gorging myself on their affordable yet not-so-healthy restaurant offerings. The worst offenders are those stupid hot dogs that fill the check-out area with a delicious aroma that tells me, "You thought you weren't hungry... you were wrong." Two hot dogs later and I'm stuffed with tasty badness that only cost me $2 and my self-control. Note: Don't over order. They recently increased the size of their dogs - they're pretty damn filling now! The $1 breakfasts consisting of 2 sausages, scrambled eggs and hashbrowns, aren't as bad since I'm not usually at Ikea early enough to be tempted. Though if I'm ever in the area that early, I do make the trip. Plus, for an extra $1, you get a coffee and a cinnamon bun. I've also been told that the meatball meal served in the restaurant is also really good for a $4.99 meal but I've never ordered it. I have bought the balls and brought them home though. They're pretty convenient for making pasta sauces and impromptu meals. As for the furniture, some of it is better quality than others. Don't bother with the couches. They're way over-priced and go flat pretty quickly. Myself, I bought all my shelving, tables and chairs at Ikea then went to Mobler across the street for my couch. Ikea very cleverly has their store set up in such a way that encourages you to browse through the entire store in the hopes of hooping you into impulse buys (both of the furniture and food varieties), but IF you have self-control, there are ways to go straight through to the sections you want. If you have some to spare, please lend it to me for the next time I head over there... read more

How to shop at Ikea: Step 1 - go to the snack bar and get an ice cream, you wouldn't want to grocery shop on an empty stomach, so why do it when shopping for furniture? Step 2 - with your empty hand, grab a big yellow bag, golf pencil, shopping list, and paper measuring tape. If you can't carry all of these items, you can put them in the big yellow Ikea bag. Step 3 - wander the store looking for things you don't need, but look really cool. Ikea is really good for storage, stackable things and scented candles. Step 4 - find furniture that could potentially be very useful in your home, and then realize you didn't take measurements of anything in your house before you left, so you aren't sure if any of these things will fit. Step 5 - try to write down measurements of said furniture, but realize that one hand has an ice cream and the other has a big yellow Ikea bag. After unsuccessfully trying to balance your ice cream on a table, you are able to write down measurements, yes! Your ice cream is melting on the floor, no! Step 6 - Proceed to the checkout where you will either A. be purchasing things such as scented candles, and vases that you really didn't come to Ikea to buy, but caught your eye while you were there. Or B. have a big yellow bag that says Ikea on it filled with napkins, golf pencils, and measurements that you hope you will be able to decipher later. Some of the stuff at Ikea is good, but I find mostly, it lasts for one move and then it falls apart. If you plan on staying somewhere for a long time, this may be the place you want to go to drop hundreds of dollars on a cheap dresser, or you could always go to a second hand store and get something that's not made from compressed cardboard. read more

I really want to give this store a MINUS 5. I checked online info on this store before going to it, nothing was mentioned that they were running a limited inventory and under some type of construction. By the time my GF and I figured out this store had NO real interesting inventory that we were looking for, it took us about 15 minutes to find the way out of the store. I am a very positive person, but getting out of that store tried every bit of my patients, It was one of the first times I ever started to feel seriously claustrophobic, I could not believe that there was no way to get out of the store. I felt like a mouse in a maze except I didn't get any cheese when I finally made it to the exit. After this I drove over to the IKEA in Coquitlam (just so I could compare) and they were MUCH BETTER! Lots of inventory, not so claustrophobic, didn't have to stick to ONE PATH to the exit. HELLO! I have way more furniture from Ikea then I care to admit to! There are some things I wouldn't dare buy from there (like couches) but for a dresser, side table or tv stand they are pretty easy and convenient. I usually shop online...blast through the showroom frantically dodging people to find the item so I can quickly see it in person and then blow through the warehouse to find my items. Way too often I have made the mistake of going by myself to get a larger item and it can be hard to get the boxes off the shelf and into your cart without throwing out your back. Then I get to the parking lot and getting it into the car is a whole other challenge! PS Ikea is cheap cause there is NO ONE there to do your heavy lifting for you! You also get what you pay for, the materials are heavy cause they are all pretty much pressed wood chips with a laminate on them. Items scratch really easy which makes moving way more stressful then it already is cause all your Ikea wears WILL get damaged. As I get older I am trying to get away from Ikea a bit and into some real wood furniture that will last but if you need something in a pinch or your style changes every couple years Ikea is great! Shopping at IKEA can be a blessing or a burden. Lately it has been awful! They are chronically understaffed making the shopping experience verging on nightmare proportions. I needed 1 meter of fabric but no one was around. Unfortunately this is the one department where you can not help yourself. After 5 mins I phoned the store, jumped through the automated hoops to reach someone. They then tried to find someone to send over. It took in total over 14 mins before anyone showed up to help! I had come to Ikea to buy a shoe rack. Unfortunately that entire department was under construction! Argggg! I ended up in 'as is' found a shoe rack and worked backwards to figure out where the stock was! I bought one 'blind' came home, put it together, it looks good! Still love the products just can't handle the struggle to get them! Heads up IKEA, get more staff on board! read more

IKEA IS SKRÄCKINJAGANDE! (That means awesome in Swedish fyi. Don't believe me?! Google translate it!) I love to come to Ikea just to look at things. Nevermind that I don't actually need any furniture or household items. I can come here and roam the isles and showcases for hours and have a blast! Today was no different, no furniture needed, but I did come here with purpose in mind. I wanted to buy a plant, yes a plant. I consider myself to have a fairly green thumb, I have an avid interest in the flora of things. A while back, coming to Ikea, I saw this really cool looking plant, but at the time I was funemployed and couldn't justify buying this wondrous natural creation. This particular want never really left my mind, so once me and some friends decided to come here, I knew that I was going to purchase this particular shrubbery. Great place for cheap breakfast ($1 for two pieces of sausages, eggs, and diced hash)! Free coffee/tea half hour before the IKEA store opens. Inexpensive lunch/dinner menus. They are known for their meatballs (which now also comes in the vegetarian and chicken versions)! Once in awhile some menu items will be on sale. Always friendly service and very flexible with substitutions (ie breakfast no eggs, more hash). Always ample seating (although for some reason this location is always super busy even during weekdays). Family-friendly - there's an area for kids to eat and play. And remember to return your food trays when done! Now you can walk the food off and browse some IKEA showrooms :) read more

I love love love love IKEA! I just love it, I'm loving loving it! Does that explain everything? Haha, I'm such a freak for interior design, sometimes I got to Ikea with no intention to buy anything but just to look around at their displays. I usually end up coming out with something. Their prices are really good for the quality of products and their furniture is usually up to date and modern. I didn't really HAVE to mention this considering everyone already has, but the food is awesome and incredibly CHEAP. Yummy hotdogs and Yogurt Cones!!! Mmmm. And what's missing from your wallet after this fulfilling meal? COINS! Oh and maybe the things you were tempted to buy. Ikea is fun, but when it's busy, oh you better believe it, IT'S BUSY. It kinda gets annoying. Especially when you are actually there to buy something and there's inconsiderate people who stand in the tiny walkways with their carts looking around dumbfounded, meanwhile you are trying to pass them in a hurry. [Swedish Meatballs] Ikea Richmond has a fancy new store for all your DIY home furnishings. However, I rarely buy things from here and tend to come more often for their food. So this review is purely for their edible offerings. Their cafeteria is huge, modern, and filled with all the Swedish furniture you've come to expect from this blue and yellow big box store. The one thing Ikea's got going for them is the price. 20 meatballs and mashed potatoes for under $7? Yes please. While their meatballs don't scream AAA beef, some of their other dishes are actually quite good. Their salmon plate is my current fave - this includes two veggie medallions (highly recommended) and steamed potatoes and legumes. The chicken plate is also very decent. Having a bottomless pit for a stomach, I often have to top up my entree with a bunch of sides. $1 garlic bread, $3 salad, $2.5 soup, and $2 desserts are the preferred coma-inducing choices. The food quality is good considering you're eating in a store cafeteria. Value is the best part of it - I can stuff my face and not go much over $10. My eyes are often bigger than my stomach and i end up with way too much food but at least it doesn't break the bank. Accessibility and parking are easy and plentiful though it does get rather busy on weekends. If you're looking at a cheap, quick meal, this might just fit the bill. read more

This review will focus on the restaurant of the store. This restaurant has always attracted my fancy because it's a nice location within the store and convenient for hungry people who are doing a lot of (window) shopping. They also have very cheap and affordable menu items. I love that there's a lot of windows which lets tons of natural light in, and the fact that the food always looks good on both the posters/signage and when it's being served right in front of you. Sadly, the visual appeal of the food does not equal the taste. Around the table, we had the steamed salmon with some kind of dill sauce, steamed vegetables, veggie/potato medallions, ribs, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, garlic bread and the almond cake. The salmon was actually really moist, but it was SO bland. It depends on the sauce for it to be edible. Um hello? Ever heard of seasoning your dishes? A dash of salt and pepper goes a long way. Another thing I knew that was not going to be stellar: steamed vegetables. They could be, but when I saw it I knew it has been sitting on the steam table for over an hour. Again, more blandness happening there. The veggie/potato medallions looked good but it's also been sitting on the steam table for a long time. I tasted more of the potato than the vegetable; in other words too much potato. The mashed potatoes were also disappointing. It tasted like one of those pre-made, ready to serve, mashed potatoes in a box. Surprisingly bland as well (considering most packaged mashed potatoes are swimming in sodium). My brother is a huge ribs fan and he usually thinks ribs in sauce is delicious even if it really isn't. For this however, he thought the ribs were just mediocre. I thought it was tough, not the falling-off-the-bone kind and the sauce tasted like Kraft BBQ sauce. Which it might have been. The best dish was probably the fried chicken. Well, it was the best among the rest; it wasn't exactly to die for. It was moist and the taste was there, it just wasn't impressive. This is also true for the almond cake: it really tasted like a generic cake (just a little bit of sweetness, barely enough for me) with almonds that added a nice crunch. It wasn't great but it was better than the rest. Oh and the garlic bread was also pretty good. Overall, I wanted to give this place a 1.5/5. But since Yelp doesn't do half points, I'm bumping it up to 2/5 because it's no gourmet food (and I knew that walking in) so I shouldn't expect too much. It's tolerable if you're hungry. But seriously, invest in salt and pepper. It's really going to help. Would I come back? Probably not. Unless someone told me they're paying for my food. Otherwise, I'd rather spend my money elsewhere. read more
