On my recent trip to IKEA in Tampa I was extremely upset with the lack of customer service and the sheer unhelpfulness of their staff. I understand that to have such low prices on their goods the staff are not expected to provide concierge service, however, the fact that I could not even ask for help and was talked at not to, shows they care not at all for their potential future customers. I called the day before I made my purchases to confirm that there would be delivery available that same week, as the furniture was part of my spring break improvement project. When I reached the home delivery service desk they informed me that they could not deliver until next week even though the previous day the spokesperson on the phone said they had same or next day deliveries on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. I asked if I could return myself tomorrow to pick up the merchandise since they could not deliver for a week. "No" cannot do that either. I would need to have someone to help me load the items into the truck anyway, since that is also not something any of the dozens of people wearing IKEA shirts and talking amongst themselves appear to do. Actually, I am not sure why there is staff at IKEA? There were two registers open, at the furthest possible location away from the exit and the area where you have to drop the items off for home delivery. When I was contacted by a customer service representative their sole consolation was to give me a gift card to their food court, which I can assure you I will most definitely not be visiting again. Were it not for the fact that I invested 5 hours of my time, $2000, and had a new bedroom all picked out for my daughter I would have returned my entire purchase and taken my business somewhere more reliable. Our experience was utterly absurd. We purchased a sectional couch and when it was finally delivered (by a third party who had no quality control at all) we were disappointed to find that the slipcover was omitted from the shipment. When we immediately brought this glaring omission to the attention of the "customer assistance" department they did nothing but put us off for weeks before taking any action at all. It took countless phone calls (during which we were placed on hold for ridiculous lengths of time) before we could get anyone to actually agree to ship us what we actually purchased. No stars is a better rating! on Jan. 16, 2015 1.Made up mind to buy the loveseat sleeper I saw when I went to look in Ikea after circus in Tampa. 2. Empty van this a.m. so it will fit in...took some time. 3. Drove over to Tampa to Ikea - 20 min. 4. Locate item, look at it again, decide yes, get it...the one at Macy's is better quality, but am not going to be using much anyway. This is also a wider twin, so maybe nicer for someone using it. 5. Bumble around (they have no staff as far as I can see) looking for someone to tell me how one goes about purchasing an item. 6. Find a fellow who kindly goes to a computer and punches out what I need to take to the check out...one needs bin numbers etc. apparently and since it is large item one does not just load it onto a cart and proceed. One goes to cash, finally discovered in the bowels of this "warehouse", pays and then goes to the stock area.... DO NOT: go to this store if you expect to get out in a decent length of time....serpentine "trail" makes you go to every dept. before finally escaping!!! 7. Now one waits for a few minutes (try 20!) for person to pull the item, load onto a cart so you can take it outside to load... person there says men in fluorescent vests are outside to help load..... 8. (pause here for hysterical laughter!) since I go outside (now about 1/2 hour has passed) and there is no one in sight 9. another 20-30 minutes pass.... 10. I go back inside and ask where are the "loaders".....stock area person will call 11. back outside to move van to a better spot where there is no railing to block loading this larger item (you cannot squeeze large items between the railing sections along the loading area). 12. Still no one shows up though I do see a loader walking away from the area and try to call out to him...he ignores or does not hear...maybe going on break? 13. Back inside & angry now and with cart and box with loveseat inside with me to return the item...another woman also incensed is ahead of me having also been waiting a long time for help....which never did come. We both agree we will never shop here again!!! 14. I go to the Returns counter which is blessedly right there, calling out to the stock room folks, also close by, to never mind sending anyone ...I am returning the item right now... 15. Well not exactly "right now" as there is a line up of folks returning stuff (hmm....a sign of not such happy customers with merchandise offered?) I take a number. 16. While waiting another 15 minutes (yes, they are understaffed at this area also), I get on the phone to Macy's and ask if they have one of those loveseats in stock ...I will be there in about 20 minutes to buy and can load into my van. 17. finish with return at Ikea. 18. Now 1.5 hours has elapsed since I arrived at Ikea thinking I would just pick up a loveseat and be gone..... add time to empty van, drive over, remove another seat to make room, drive back and I have now wasted 1/2 day with nothing to show for it - well if you don't count the foaming at the mouth!!!! Whatever happened to service and pleasing the customer???? Non-existent in this day and age apparently...certainly not at Ikea.....will never never never shop there again. 2nd NOTE: THIS IS NOT THE STAFF'S FAULT....THIS STORE IS WOEFULLY UNDERSTAFFED.....BUT I GUESS THAT IS THE PLAN....LESS SERVICE AND PERSONNEL = MORE PROFIT FOR THE CORPORATION, 3rd NOTE: I did purchase a loveseat sleeper..,..from American Signature Furniture....came to the store in 3 days, I picked up at the store....took total of 15 min, to ring the bell at the loading dock, hand over my order info and fellow loaded it! Well, let's just say the meatballs w/ mashed potatoes are like eating straight- up happiness. On my last visit, i was browsing the lamps like a boss. The muchies set in so i went to the food court. I could have satisfied my undying hunger if I DIDN'T GET LOST WITH THE POINTLESS ARROWS AND DIRECTIONS. So yeah, i had a nice lunch of plush soccer balls and bedframes. Ikea. Fix your directions, so i dont end up in the room where you hide the slave children who make your furniture, when i was looking for an office chair. read more

This has been nothing but a horrible and stressful experience. I purchased approximately $1,000 worth of furniture on December 9th and paid the $129 to have the items delivered to my house. They were originally suppose to be delivered between 9am and 1pm on the 15th. At approximately 1:30 when I hadn't received my shipment yet, I phoned the delivery company who informed me they were unable to pick up my packages from the warehouse and that I needed to call the store directly. I phoned IKEA's 'Home Delivery' dept and left a message. When I didn't get a call back in what I felt was a reasonable amount of time, I phoned the store again and spoke to an individual in the 'After Sales' Dept. All I was told was that my order was lost. They could not tell me what would be done to solve the problem. Instead they offered to call me back when they had a better idea of where my merchandise was located. A couple of hours later, I did receive a call from a very nice associate who informed me that they had located my order, but they would not be able to deliver it to me until Tuesday the 18th. I accepted that, seeing as I had no other choice. Now, over a week from when my order was purchased, the delivery arrives and multiple glass pieces are shattered. The delivery men assured me that the pieces were broken in the IKEA warehouse where my items were stored and that IKEA requires them to bring the items to the buyer to show that they have been broken. I refused the broken items and contacted the store directly. I waited on hold for a while, then was transferred to a gentleman who seemed to care more about what was going on in the background than the problem I was having with his store. After I explained the issue he informed me that, 'Pieces don't leave the store broken.' After informing this employee that I wasn't concerned with who broke the items, I just wanted the items I needed delivered to me, he responded by continuing to tell me that it wasn't the store's fault, it was the driver's fault. At the end of the day it was the fault of someone employed or contracted by IKEA, and not me. This lovely employee then had the audacity to tell me not to get "snide" with him. I have never been snide with anyone at IKEA, I'm simply trying to resolve the situation. I was told my options were to wait until Thursday the 20th for the remainder of my items to be delivered, and only hope that the items won't be broken again, or drive over an hour and a half away to pick up the remaining items. I have also not received the refund of my shipping costs which I was promised 3 days ago. I had intentions of purchasing more items at IKEA after the Holidays, but the lack of customer service and the treatment of my merchandise after I paid for it has changed my mind. I will not be shopping at this or any IKEA in the future. read more

We traveled 3 hours to Ikea for my daughter to purchase furniture and bedding items. Between the 2 of us we had several bags. Upon returning home we found 3 items missing. I attempted to contact Ikea for 3 weeks only to get disconnected. Finally reaching a representative I was told after being on hold for 2 hours the cashier did not "log in" the items he left out of our bags. I am told no refund even though I have my receipt and I have to physically be in the store for what purpose the supervisor couldn't tell me! We live 10 hours away in North Carolina!! The customer service is horrible if you can even get through, I will never shop at Ikea again!!!! read more

Bad customer service because you can't EVER get anyone on the phone!!!!! This is the second time with the product. They don't give you the hardware!!!! There are no instructions on the doors, nor gives you the Item number for the hinges which apparently does not come with the doors or the cabinet I bought. Had to drive 20 miles around trip last week as they didn't tell me the mounting plate was sold seperately and I had a person there filling all the information OUT!!!. So now I need the hinges for the cabinet doors. Wanted to call first, but ALWAYS on hold for over 10 mins. Maybe if the Sweds would make better instructions and list the hardware part numbers in the instructions and online I wouldn't be going through all this wasted time. There are no instructions on the doors as to what kind of hinges it needs. NEVER again. read more

the most outrageous lack of customer service for on line orders! i have now been on hold for one hour and thirty three minutes! it was 53 minutes the first time! and they never answer the emails you sent them from their website...it is a completed disgrace...i received damaged items and want them replaced! it looks i will have to go to the store in tampa personally and raise holy hell! i will never purchase anything from this joke of a store! read more

This company is not a reputable company to order from online!! Placed an order on 1-11-18,had to call an see when it would be delivered on2-3-18 was on hold for 25-30 minutes all the while listening to their speal on how important my phone call is to them! HAHA What a joke this company is!! Finally received my order mind you that was being shipped from Georgia to Florida!! on 2-5-18 just to find out that it was missing the main parts to put up on the wall the rails!!! So another 25-30 minute or longer phone call to ikea talked to Jenny she would get it straightened out! HA Yup sure did we received 1 rail about a week later!! Just placed another call to ikea and was on hold for 35 minutes then another 10minutes when I asked for a supervisor! What a joke this company is!! I spoke to Siera now supposedly she is going to put this on a priority list so maybe it won't take another month to receive my missing rail! I wanted them to ship it next day....oh no they don't next day nothing!! Must be that would be to expensive cause I'm sure they would have lots of demands for this as incapable as they are at doing business and not getting the orders done properly!! I looked forward to see IKEA enter the Tampa market. The furniture situation in Tampa is a sad one dominated by oversized American floral patterned plush and the typical pseudo-classic 'Oak Express' furniture. IKEA brings European design at reasonable prices (I hope Scan Design takes notice!). Unfortunately, the shopping experience is lacking. Starting with disoriented sales staff whose right hand does not know what the left does, and ending with the laughable process of personally wheeling your sofa through the check out lane only to then drop it off at the Home Delivery department, where one has to manually fill in a form to ensure correct delivery. How about enabling phone ordering and direct delivery via credit card payment, like other discount businesses do it all the time (think WalMart)? Bottom line: I think it was time that someone stirred up the Tampa market, but IKEA could do a much better job to make this a pleasant experience! read more

Have you ever been to a store and been amazed at how genuinely friendly and helpful the staff is? Well, this is not one of those stores. It was difficult to get help loading up furniture inside the warehouse and then into the car. Staff members literally looked the other way and ignored another staffer who was signaling for help. There were plenty of people working in the store, but they mostly walked around or stood in groups. Only one guy helping to load the cars--and only the people with the neon green shirts can help with that, while the dozen or so people in the striped shirts nearby cannot help or help you find someone to help. At the end of the day, though, it's not the fault of the team on the sales floor--it's a management issue. Everyone looked tired and stressed and so unhappy to be there. It makes me wonder how IKEA treats its employees. Two stars because I love the products and prices, but shopping at this IKEA is a downer. read more

My parents are from Sweden so perhaps my review is a bit biased, but IKEA is great on more levels than one (literally). The store is huge, so I recommend making the trip to the store and creating a day of it. Make sure you visit the cafe before you begin shopping; trust me after 8 different warehouses full of stuff you will be hungry! If you are businesses minded individual like me, the first thing you will notice is that their marketing strategies are brilliant (the store is set up like a maze so once you are in you will be forced to see all ikea has to offer). Also, make sure you come to the store with money to blow; the items are priced very cheap; $7.99 doesn't sound like a lot of money, but after 25 different $7.99 items you are looking at about 200 bucks. My hubby and I bought a kitchen and a bedroom set from the Tampa location so far AMAZING!! I have heard the IKEA customer service horror stories, but so far I haven't really had to deal with that department. If you can, I would try to buy from the store directly instead of online. Overall 5 stars, also don't forget to sign up for the IKEA family card, you get tons of kick backs including free coffee and tea! :) read more
