Our first meal in Rome was so good! Our waiter was helpful and explained what the specials were and translated to English. My husband had the bacon wrapped pork loin that he said was delicious, came with roasted potatoes and a steamed green veggie. I had carbonara, made with goats cheese, so it was saltier than I was used to, but the tanginess of the goat cheese gave that little extra pop of flavor. Decided to stop by here after reading the reviews. The customer service and food we have had were amazing. We have spent over a week in Italy and this was by far one of the best meals we had. We came back a second time the next day. Recommend the cuscus octopus if you like seafood and can't go wrong with good old pasta with traditional tomato sauce and bacon. Really delicious and close proximity to the Colesseum (5min walk). Indoor area with clean bathroom and a cute outdoor communal seating area. Friendly and attentive staff that could provide Italian or English menus. We split the fresh homemade bucatini pasta with amatriciana sauce which was so good! Creamy cheesy sauce without the heaviness of actual cream. It's wild what they can do with just cheese and pepper, great flavor!. Great selection of wines and some beers to choose from. Most of the restaurant s in the area are mediocre serving pizza and average pasta. We were delighted to find this gem with the best food since we left Tuscany. Mediocre. Raviolis (the best in town, apparently) were gross with a brown gravy sauce, my daughter only ate two of them and wouldn't finish. The dish looked thrown together, bad presentation. Walked here after visiting the colosseum. Short walk and right as they opened for dinner. I had a lot of high expectations from all of the good reviews. We asked for water before ordering drinks. The server suggested that I could try the wine before buying so that was nice. My brother ordered beer that the server had suggested. We ordered dinner, it was good but wish they had more options. There weren't salad options. Took forever to get the server to bring the check and we never got the beer. We pointed it out in the bill and he apologized. We stayed in a Airbnb right next to it so we decided to check it out! The fried meatballs were AMAZING!!!!! We then ordered pastas and they were equally as awesome. This place is a 5 minute walk from the Colosseum and it's on a quieter street away from the busy crowds. It was an AMAZING experience. Our waiter was so kind and was happy to give us recommendations. We ordered two appetizers, and 4 entrees. Everything was SO delicious and cooked/seasoned perfectly. Definitely get the ravioli and Bucatini Amatriciana in terms of pasta. As for secondi entrees, the monkfish was probably the best thing I've ever had in my life. I also don't eat meat anymore but I tried a bite of the steak filet with raw salt rock and I wanted to eat the whole plate! Favorite restaurant in Rome for three reasons: 1. Real Roman cuisine: veal, pastas,salumi,cheeses, amaro...all the good stuff! my favorite dishes were the bucatini al'amatriciana(bacon and tomato sauce) and the zabaigione with marsala wine - anything you order here will be good. 2. Locals mostly, but tourist friendly: the menu is only in Italian, but all the waiters speak English 3. Atmosphere is relaxed for a group, couple or dining solo(did that a few times too!) I was so happy with all of my choices - this is the place to go if you are near the Colosseo. Skip the tourists traps by the bus stop and come here instead! read more

The food was great, and it was just far enough away from the Main Street to be comfortable and not too crowded. We really enjoyed the pork fillet wrapped in bacon. One downside was that the phone line was down so we had to pay cash, but that could happen anywhere. read more

I needed a break from pasta/pizza, and so I ordered their sea bass, in a very light tomato sauce with oregano. It was so light and moist, perfectly cooked. The fish was served alone, however, and I had to pay extra for a vegetable side. The broccoli was delicious, though. I also ordered the tiramisu, which seemed a little under "cooked" to me, the cookie layer was still crispy in places. Not as smooth and creamy as I'm used to. It was definitely an excellent meal, but I thought it was a little pricey what with the side dish, the standard charge for bread, and a large bottle of mineral water (no smaller sized option available). read more

Just got back from Rome yesterday and had to leave a review already! Pedro was our server and he was simply amazing. He had great recommendations and everything was super delicious! I had the rib eye, only because I had been eating too much pasta and pizza the last couple of days. My husband had the carbonara, which many locals recommend. He tried a couple of different ones and he said this one was his favorite. A couple of my friends ordered the duck, which I chimed in and said that duck is usually game-ie, but this one was not at all. It was tender & juicy. Very flavorful! There was also this amazing lava cake & ice cream dessert, which was phenomenal. I had mentioned not having had found the best canoli yet to my friends. Pedro overheard and he said that they had just finished baking a batch for the next day and offered it. It was one of the best. Make reservations because they are busy! They are located in a quiet but happening little wine area near Capo D'africa. The antipasti was wonderful for our large table and the cheesecake was delicious. Not heavy NY style but dense Italian style. My kids were in love with the torte de cioccolato. Tonight's dinner was delicious! Not a large menu but it had a little bit of everything. Started off with regional meats & cheeses with mixed greens and walnuts. Delicious! Ordered liter of the house red (always go with the house wine as they are tasty and quite inexpensive). My husband had the Sea Bass ravioli and enjoyed it. I had the pasta with panchetta (Italian bacon), garlic & pepper (they also have a red tomato sauce variation) which was excellent. Portions are perfect = just enough to not feel stuffed.
