This was an excellent restaurant located just behind Piazza Carità. It's famous for its fish dishes, but also has meat dishes. We've been here two consecutive nights, the last being on New Year's Eve when they did an all inclusive with unlimited wine for €140. Otherwise the food is reasonable priced. This spot is off the beaten path but well worth it. Not really that far. Ok, we had said and pasta and a shrimp dish. All the food was fresh and tasted terrific. Romantic interior, lovely terrace. Nice staff. Fantastic cuisine. More electorate than the usual osteria around the corner. Here a truly skilled chef is pampering you with his passion. I went here 2 years ago and always wanted to go back again. I wasn't disappointed and already want to go back again ;) I recommend this place without hesitation. It looks posh due to the white table cloths and napkins but it's not stiff lips kind of elegant. Just pretty to look at and still comfy, kids welcome. We all enjoyed our food inclusive dessert (tiramisu). Even the coffee was good which is usually only good when ording in bars. We dined casual for other nights during our Naples vacation, but sought somewhere upscale but not stuffy for our 30th anniversary dinner. Il Garum fit perfectly! The service was friendly & professional, with spot-on wine advice. Tuna filet & the St. Pierre special were both delicious, as was the tiramisu to end the meal. Stopped in for a quick lunch without checking Yelp and we got lucky. This place was just what we were looking for. Atmosphere is nice on a quiet piazza, and it is directly across from a ancient church. Service was impeccable and the food incredible. We had the octopus on a bed of potatoes, the octopus was huge and we were concerned it would be chewy but it was not, it was so tender. We also got the gnocchi with pesto and clams, I was leery about ordering gnocchi with clams but it was delicious. My daughter got the penne pasta with tuna and again it was some of the best pasta that we never had. Definitely coming back! read more

What a perfect dining out experience in this restaurant. Although we are 30mins before the opening times, the owner still let us in and rest our feet before it start the business. We have a lovely taste of white wine coupled with a few dishes, Tempura cod fish, risotto seafood rice, Seabass with breadcrumbs and tuna fish. It taste so good. I have to say this is the best restaurant of my dining out experience in Napoli. Price is a bit expensive than other restaurant but I think it is worthwhile to try. Took a stroll to visit this restaurant with high Yelp reviews. And to be honest, I couldn't understand the high markings and left me wondering if we didn't order the right dish. The appetizer was good - squid with pureed potatoes. An interesting combination and was subtle and smooth. The main dish that cost 45 euros; we took a risk with this - local fish cooked in the oven that came with a side sauce of olive oil and lemon, and grilled vegetables that was supposed to be enough for 2 people. Fish was cooked well, not dry. But it was too bland, even with the sauce. We were looking for salt to season it further. The quantity was not enough for the two of us - and it's not that our stomachs grew bigger in Italy. I would not recommend this dish as is. The staff is friendly and professional. This place gets my highest recommendations. Il Garum is authentic and the menu card contains great food, if you want an alternative to pizza. The staff strives to understand your English tongue (with is rather unusual in Naples) and the outside seating makes the experience perfect. If you want to eat away from the most touristic areas, this is your place. Reasonable priced. read more
