Admittedly my husband and I found this restaurant with the help of our Naples guidebook, but it ended up being such a hit that we had dinner there three times. There are about 18 (or so) tables. I'm not sure if they take reservations or not. Each time we dined there we went early - shortly after opening between 19:00-20:00. It filled up quickly. It's a bit of a hole in the wall, casual and homey with checkered tablecloths. The menu is written on a big chalk board on the wall and changes every day according to what's fresh. Despite this, there is still lots to choose from. The prices are amazing! Pasta dishes at 6EUR are alright with me! I couldn't name everything that was on the menu those three nights. If you're having trouble reading the menu, don't worry. We had one waiter twice and a different one on the last night. Each time they crouched down at our table and listed off much of what was on the written menu and some of what wasn't, making suggestions, answering questions and explaining dishes. I've never had such helpful service at a restaurant anywhere in Italy. And they recognized us each time we returned. I had pasta each night and each one was fantastic. The first one stands out the most in my mind. Spaghetti with a simple, fresh tomato sauce, fresh basil, black olives and capers. Fantastic. Each meal we had, with wine, came out to around 25EUR total. Absolutely recommend.

Late night dinner after a day relaxing, visiting the archaeological museum, and, of course, eating food a drinking coffee. Hard work, but so.ebody has to do it. We started the meal with fried anchovies and zucchini flowers stuffed with ricotta cheese and prosciutto. This was followed with a large meatball "pulpettone al forno," fried cod, broccoli, and braciola. Everything wasperfect, except the braciola, ot wss quite large and not very warm. The expected pine nuts and raisons were missing. For desert we had a hazelnut mouse. We finished the meal with grappa. Service was excellent, as expected. Eat well, tip well

We had never been to Naples before and our host recommended this place. It was truly an authentic Napoli cafe with very friendly waiters who recommended the antipasto first and seafood dishes. The food was delicious and atmosphere full of fun'

Disappointed. I…read moreread great reviews and couldn't wait to eat here. That said, the tomatoes in the Caprese salad were not ripe. After being in Positano for a week I was excited to have my last Italian Caprese salad. This was very disappointing. The tomatoes had very little flavor and were far from being ripe. The house wine was not worth the price. The ragu gnocchi was tasty with a delightful Smokey flavor but was not as light as gnocchi I had in other places. The bread was tough and stale. Service was very good! I'm disappointed for my last night in Italy but even so, we had a good time. I do think their ragu is excellent.

The food at this place was wholly mediocre and not what someone comes to Italy to have. Their house white wine was flavorless. While I liked the char on the bread, the bruschetta lacked olive oil and garlic. My wife had the ragu over manfredi, I had the genovese over ziti. Neither of our dishes were all that notable. Tandem has 7 locations in Naples and it seems they stay packed. The front desk people highly recommended it to us, and it felt like all the other people were also there on hotel recommendations. If your front desk people recommended Tandem to you, I recommend you take their suggestions with more than a few grains of salt.

Stomach growling as I was walking down Viale Pasitea (the main thoroughfare in town), multiple good options caught my eye. After some Gmaps searching (sorry Yelp, again limited and some outdated data in Europe!) their beautiful IG-able interior + stellar reviews cinched the decision for me. It's both a restaurant and retail store--the latter carries local ceramics, kitchenware and home decor, many with botanical designs--capturing that quintessential coastal vibe--colors back to white. The former takes up the remaining three-quarters of the white-washed space with about two dozen tables seating about 40-50 people. Live vines hang from parts of the ceiling, pendant lighting fixtures printed with leaf patterns echo the botanical theme from the retail displays. The aesthetic rounds out with tiled floors, light wood furniture, and pillowed banquette seating mixed with individual tables, tying in designs from the home goods store. Food is new Italian--they do carry some traditional dishes though they also have a modern Mediterranean section of the menu that adds non-traditional ingredients or techniques. They also serve a variety of cocktails, fresh-squeezed or blended juices and smoothies, and coffee drinks. Lunch with an entree and drink will run you about €35-40, which is on the higher side though par for the course compared to other similar restaurants along the Amalfi Coast. I ordered the traditional fagioli cannellini, scarola, capperi, olive e calamari gratinati €26 (cannellini beans, escarole, capers, olives and gratinated calamari). This was creamy and tasty even though it had no cheese or cream, the calamari was cooked well, just tender enough, and coated with light breadcrumbs, which I appreciated as it was baked and not deep-fried. Having minimal familiarity with dish, I can only say I thought it was outstanding, good textural contrast, not too salty. Staff was the right amount of attentive without being overbearing, and though their English was limited, they strove to answer my questions on ingredients in a few of the dishes. The restaurant was pretty busy during lunch, but I never felt rushed. Loved the atmosphere and food here, would certainly recommend!

Little did we know "special" was not meant for us at the Caesar Augustus hotel restaurant. Instead we experienced a whole new meaning to the word "special" thanks to Francesco Signorini; the entitled prick "owner" at the Caesar Augustus property who acted like a spoiled 10 year old brat having a massive temper tantrum while all the hotel guests and restaurant patrons watched in horror. His tantrum was directed at US. It all started as we were lead down the steps to our table to be seated for dinner. I had requested an outdoor table with unobstructed view to watch the sunset on the terrace of the restaurant's namesake La Terrazza di Lucullo. Instead the hostess lead us past the desired location down another set of steps to a completely empty indoor room pool level that was dark and stuffy. Of course I protested and asked to be seated up at the Terrace per my request with the other diners but was told by the hostess that every table up there was for "a special reservation". I then inquired about the two outdoor tables outside the stuffy dark room and she said these were also for "special reservations". At that point I started getting upset and said, "We're special, we have a reservation... why can't we have an outdoor table that we requested"? In frustration we sat down at one of the outside tables to regroup and figure out our next move to call our hotel, the fabulous Villa Marina Hotel & Spa and speak with owner Federica Guarino. While speaking with Federica to see what she could do to help the situation, Francesco Signorini looms over us with puffed up ego and bellows, "I AM THE OWNER and you can't sit at this table! This is the Tiberius table!!" We explain the situation and instead of making any accommodation for us, he states "no no I will make a nice setting for you here at the pool". Keep in mind the pool area is totally empty and void of any restaurant ambience whatsoever. His suggestion was to make a single table out by the pool lounges for us to dine at which of course we denied. He was adamant that we take it, stating this is where his own parents (the real owners) dine. Finally after exhausting all efforts to honor our request, he finally succumbs into giving us the terrace table we wished for but that's when the tantrum happened... We were handed our menus at the table on the terrace while below Francesco Signorini set up the lone table poolside for I suppose the guests our table was intended. I think he finally realized that it was not optimal for anyone to dine there other than his parents and that's when he started shouting to us from the pool level up in front of all the terrace diners accusing me of being drunk (which he actually was) and making an enormous scene asking us if we're happy now?! I asked him to please drop it but he would not stop berating us in front of all the guests. The son of Caesar Augustus hotel owners Paolo and Patrizia Signorini should be absolutely appalled by their son's rude obnoxious behavior and total lack of hospitality as hotel guests and restaurant patrons watched in horror as he made lude gestures to my husband and I in a drunken rant to go "F"off" and ordered us to "GO!! Get out ....get out now!!! Leave .. go, go, go...!" Can you imagine?!? Francesco Signorini should be locked up for his disgusting behavior as a restaurant and property owner! We got up and left all the while he continued to shout at us and make lude hand gestures, thrusting them up and down his crotch while everyone watched stunned. Shocked and appalled we left Caesar Augustus and ended up at a restaurant we had our favorite dinner - La Zagara in Anacapri. Having only dined there once before it was so amazing how the staff knew exactly where we sat previously, what we drank, what we ate and treated us like royalty. What a stark difference in treatment!! True gracious hospitality at its finest.. La Zagora is a MUST! There are many, many beautiful places to watch the sunset in Capri. Please do yourself a favor... DO NOT go to the Caesar Augustus hotel and La Terrazza di Lucullo restaurant. They do not deserve your patronage.
