May 4, 2017 Thursday - 4:30 PM for dinner 4 adults Atmosphere - 5 stars Food - 5 stars Service - 5 stars Background - Today we were exploring the city and decided it was time to eat. We had looked at several menus and found this place to try. Atmosphere - We got there a little early so we had the pick of tables. We sat at the window and watched the world. Food Drink - I went with the classic, Heineken the large size. It went down with ease after a long day of walking. Dinner - I was the only one at the table that went with pizza. Piccante / Salami pizza for less than ten Euros which was a good price. The pizza had some good heat to it, not too hot but enough to let you know it was there. I enjoyed every bit of it. Dessert - The four us split the tiramisu. I enjoyed it. Service - Since we were early I think we ended up with a team of waiters. All were great to deal with. Future - Sure.

Il Primo certainly isn't my favorite restaurant when it comes to interior design. The dark tiled floor gives the room a cool character but the tables, chairs and decoration blend well with it. However, what I give my four stars for is the food and the service. We were at Il Primo for lunch and the waiter was very friendly and attentive yet unobtrusive. And that was necessary. We were a group of 4 women and it took us some time chatting before we were ready to order. As a starter one of my friends had the carpaccio di polpo which was served with a thin spread of olive oil, seasoned with fresh white pepper and decorated with rucola, a very tasty combination. We all ordered variants of tagliatelle as main courses. They arrived directly from the pan of the chef, still steaming and tasted delicious. You could tell that the pasta were home made. One friend ordered desert but the waiter surprised us with a plate to share. Overall, Il Primo is a nice experience of good italian food and hospitality.

Another very nice Italian place in the little Italy street from Amsterdam…read more Don't expect pizza's here though this is a real kitchen! This very small Italian is always packed. In the open kitchen you can see (and hear!) the chef work his magic. The bread, the starters, the fresh home made pasta's and the secondi's are all amazing. They import a lot from Italy themselves, and you can even but a bottle of olive oil here. The place is full of ferrari signs, foto's of Sophia Loren, etc. It feels like a second home. Great for a nice romantich night out or a double date, maybe not so good if you go with more then 4 people, as the place is very small. Expect to spend about 115 euro for 2 persons incl a bottle of wine. Make sure you reserve a table!

On the outside it doesn't look all too fancy. Inside, the tables are closely arranged; making getting up from your table quite a challenge at times. However the waitress was friendly, and the atmosphere cosy. I had the truffle tagliatelle, which tasted excellent, but sadly wasn't cooked properly; it stuck together. Same goes for the pasta with sausage we had. Maybe the secondi taste better, but I'm not prone to go check them out after this experience. All in all, good service, but for the pricing they might pay a little more attention to the food.

Our waitress Marie was a joy. Making sure we had whatever we needed. The chef Tamara was also amazing describing each dish. She brought us a little chef's surprise which was some kind of beet crisp with sour cream and herbs. We ordered beef Tatar that was different and very tasty. Especially with the lovely bread basket. We ordered the lobster spaghetti and the veal dish. Both excellent and beautifully presented. For dessert the Tiramisu with vanilla ice cream was delicious and decadent. I highly recommend stopping by this lovely restaurant with great food and terrific people.

We opted for the tasting menu (different items) along with the wine pairings and that was very fun. The food is delicious - particularly loved the breads and the hazelnut soup. Love that the wine pairings differ based on what you order (and not the same for the whole table). The ambiance was cozy and fancy, but not stuffy. Enjoyed the meal thoroughly.
