One ship was away on a sail in the afternoon this past Saturday, but there was more than enough to explore on the various vessels during our visit. Plenty to see and experience on each of the boats. We stepped onto the swift boat where staff educated us about its machine gun. And we walked through and checked out the different sections of the USS Dolphin submarine too. The HMS Surprise was a lovely ship with plenty of references to its use in films. The Star of India was like a museum all on its own, so many areas to explore and a ton of history to learn. The Californian was pretty basic, not very different from many other ships we've visited in the past. Steam Ferry Berkeley was the largest, with displays showcasing scientific instruments, model boats, artwork, the riverboats in Vietnam, the engine room, a torpedo caught by a fisherman, and a special exhibit featuring the "histories of the black pacific". There's a gift shop on site as well. Altogether, the variety of ships at the Maritime Museum made for an interesting adventure, a bit touristy, but worth the cost if you're into history or simply like boats.

The ticket also got you access to the other ships to walk around which was cool. But the coolest part was that San Salvador was sailed like they would have sailed it waaay back when. We got to see real rigging masts sails steering all being done by a crew and it was a totally amazing experience and such a perfect day. Bonus: we saw dolphins and it was a perfect day. Drawback: the gentlemen speaking throughout didn't talk into his mic often so missed a lot but oh well - who's really going for history?! such a good time!!. 2. I had a good with my tickets and called and tried to talk to folks in person and could never get someone. The tickets were cancelled but not refunded which was a bummer and staff in the kiosk even said they phone lines were messed up. A bummer. :(

The full day coastal tour was packed with beautiful vistas, historical sites, gardens,beaches and natural habitats. We had frequent stops along the way to stretch our legs and take in the sites. Bring your camera and a hat and be ready for a day of touring the scenic San Diego coast. Definitely will do a trip with Morty again and maybe visit some of the other trip options he does. Riding a sidecar in the middle of Temecula while being dropped off at several wineries without having to drive sounded like a unique and fun activity. By the time he was able to purchase it, only the cocktail tour was available. While we usually prefer cocktails, we found out after the fact that those start at 4:00pm and only Mon-Thurs. It didn't sound too fun to drive an hour away on a weekday in traffic to begin and come home late, but we wanted to check it out. A few days before our event was going to take place, the business called me to inform me that they are no longer doing cocktail tours at this time and were trying to get it off Groupon until the businesses working with them were more cooperative with pricing. While I was not thrilled about the last minute change, I was relieved because a big storm was coming the next day (never fails) and it would have been canceled anyway. I also didn't know until after that you mainly ride through Old Town and would not get nearly the amount of sidecar riding. However, they offered to change it to the wine tour and were able to squeeze us in three days later on the weekend so it worked out perfectly. Weather was on our side this time. It was bright and sunny. Bryan, our tour guide and driver texted me the morning of and gave us instructions on where to meet, and the waiver to sign, and that he would also be our professional photographer this day. It turns out Bryan was juggling three parties that day and was constantly on the go moving each party to the next stop. He introduced himself and explained what we would be doing and which wineries we would be visiting. He took a few pictures in the beginning and his phone may as well have been a professional camera! We first started with a fun ride throughout parts of Temecula and through a vineyard (literally!) as well. We got on one main road and went very fast! He gave us a lot of facts about Temecula and the vineyards as we rode. Our first stop was at Chapin winery where we were provided with six tastings of our choosing. I loved every selection! The pizza they made there smelled amazing, but we were full from breakfast (another time for sure!) Bryan explained that if we did want to eat pizza, please order it right away so it had time to cook and be eaten before he came back. He left us to be to relax and enjoy our wine while he took the previous group he had dropped off to the second winery. He texted me when he was on his way back to us and so we could get ready and whatnot. Once he arrived, we hopped back into the sidecar and got an even longer tour of the city and areas and had a longer time to enjoy the next sidecar ride. We stopped by some of the nearby animals such as llamas and he told us facts about the trees in their yard and about them, followed by some facts of the mountains and nearby homes and stopped for those views. Next we were brought to Bella Vista winery and were provided a full bottle of wine! We sat and relaxed and had some more wine while enjoying the views. The party before us was brought back to the starting point. Bryan took some more pictures and we brought the remaining wine back with us. It ended up being a perfect, sunny, great weather day and the business was great the whole time. Bryan was an amazing tour guide and photographer and we highly recommend him. A number of our friends are already considering trying this tour out after hearing about it and seeing the pictures.

He was friendly and knowledgeable so it made for a good time. We tried a Blanco that was pretty good. The group we were with was really fun too so that helped make for a great time. Next stop was the Tequila Factory. Really cool place that used to be a restaurant we went to often in the past. We got a fish taco and a great explanation of the tequila that is made specially for them. The staff was so friendly too. Really beautiful view as well. For our final stop, we ended up at El Agave. They have an amazing collection of tequila bottles and more importantly, tequila. This is a location I will go back to soon. We got a flight of tequilas that went from Blanco to Añejo. Very cool. For a fun day of tequila tasting and learning, this is the tour!

On our own we'd never had these experiences. Anza Borrego is not a great place to explore on your own if you don't know what you're doing (and I definitely don't). His knowledge and love for the area really shows. If you get a chance to go for a ramble with him, don't pass it up.
