Ilanit was great with helping latch my newborn and she was covered by insurance. I would recommend her to any new mother.

After meeting with 3 different lactation consultants at the hospital and numerous nurses that also gave advice and tips, both my husband and I found Ilanit to be the most helpful. She looked at what I had been doing and quickly offered advice on small tweaks that made a world of difference and helped evolve nursing into something I sometimes dreaded to something that is no longer painful. She also shared lots of information about breast care as well as how to know baby is nursing well, etc. she's even still continued to answer many of my questions via email and text and has been a lifesaver! Our 4 week old infant was refusing to latch, and based on yelp reviews, I contacted Ilanit about helping us get back to breastfeeding. She was very responsive over text, and came to our home within 24 hours. Ilanit had said up front that she might not be able to get him to latch, and this proved to be the case in person. She told me that it was too late, and that she could have latched him if he'd been a few days (not weeks) old, and instead gave me some very helpful advice about how to maximize pumping. I would recommend asking Ilanit for help if your infant is very young as she recommended (and she says success is likely). In our (more difficult) case, although she told us it was hopeless, moms on the Bay Area Breastfeeding Support FB group told me it was possible, and we were able to get our infant to latch at 5 weeks, with the help of an LC whose technique was to coax (rather than force) the baby to nurse directly. read more

Ilanit is amazing! I would give her more that five stars if I could! She helped me with latching and with milk supply after we found out our baby is losing weight instead of gaining, she gave us the right plan even though it was not in person she immediately knew what needs to be done and corrected many things. We meet Ilanit in a hospital setting of Lactation Consultation. My 6 weeks old son did not like eat from my nipple but bottle. I was very frustrated. I have reached for help from another LC, which i searched from Yelp. However, it was not a good experience and it does not work at all. Couple weeks later, my friend referred me to this place, and Ilanit just totally changed my expectation to LC. She is very friendly and very straightfoward. By couple modification of the positions, my baby eat 30ml in couple mins from my nipple. This is AMAZING! and my baby start to like eating from my nipple since then!! This is a long overdue review. Ilanit came over to our home to assist with weaning off the breast shield when my son was ~ 5 weeks old. In less than an hour, she got my son to latch with some assistance from a Medela SNS. We only had to use the SNS once afterward and my son "got it." Like most mothers, I had difficulty getting a proper latch and breastfeeding was really painful. Ilanit was extremely helpful in fixing my latch. She was able to come by my house with only a few hours notice and taught me an easier latch technique which worked better for me. I was having pain especially in my left breast when feeding my 3-week old. I thought it might be thrush. I was really scared I would not be able to continue breastfeeding as I was fearing the pain of latching. Ilanit came to my home and showed me how to get a deep latch (I thought I had been getting it right all this time), and it was painless. She ruled out thrush and mentioned Raynaud's of the nipple. I had my son a few months ago now. He was born 4 weeks early and had difficulty latching so we started off feeding him with bottles. When we were ready to breastfeed, I sought Ilanit to help me with latch. Ilanit is an amazing Lactation Nurse. Having challenges breastfeeding with my first child, I did my homework with the second one. I got ilanit's contact info prior to giving brith, and as soon as I experienced difficulties bf I called her and she was super responsive, came in with in a day, and with in a few minutes she helped me more than all the Lactation consultants I saw at the hospital. From then on, she was with me every step of the way, responding so fast and coming when I felt I needed more support. She even went above and beyond to find me a pharmacy with an ointment she knew will help. I recommended her to everyone I knew with NB and they were all super pleased. Ilanit was wonderful! My little girl was born 5 weeks premature and was not able to establish a latch. I had a terrible expirence with the lactation consultant at the hospital so I hesitated reaching out to Ilanit, but after 6 weeks it became unbearable to pump, and I decided to give breastfeeding another try. I met with Ilanit twice and she was very helpful in calming down me and my baby, explaining new techniques and giving me excellent advice about my baby in general. I learned a lot and was able to start breastfeeding, anxiety free. For a first time mom that was exactly what I needed. I was struggling with breastfeeding my 1 week old so my husband reached out to Ilanit and she was able to pay a home visit the very next morning. Ilanit was extremely helpful and patient. She listened to my struggles and watched me nurse. At first, my son was very sleepy and not in the feeding mood when Ilanit came but she waited until he was ready to eat. Ilanit reassured me that we do not have any breastfeeding problems and showed me how to support his neck while he tries to latch. She also gave me some tips to calm him down when he gets fussy. Things improved immediately after Ilanit's visit and my son has been able to latch much quicker than before. Additionally, Ilanit showed me how to take care of my sore nipples, use a pump, try alternative feeding methods such as using a spoon / syringe shall I choose to. I do not have enough AMAZING things to say about Ilanit! She is beyond amazing and SO patient and kind and she was a tremendous help for me and my baby when we were learning to breastfeed (which took quite some time). I first saw Ilanit my first week home from the hospital when I was having trouble with latching. I called her one day and she came out to my house that SAME day and instantly my little girl was latching, It was amazing. I could go on and on forever about how wonderful Ilanit is and how she is the reason that I was able to breastfeed my baby girl and continue to breastfeed her. She helped me and provided me with so many different resources and tools (all of which worked) from syringe feeding to SNS to nipple shields and how to pump to establish my milk supply and when to introduce a bottle. Did not work well for us. Quickly she said "baby was fine" and did not fully listened to the issues I was experiencing (perfect breastfeeding baby turned into nightmare nearly overnight). Suggested the problem with the baby not latching at all on one breast was something I was eating (diet should affect both breasts equally). Asked if I have leftover milk she could take with her, I assume it is for informal donation but can't be sure. I am concerned that a lactation consultant would take breast milk from somebody she knows nothing about the medical history and distribute it. Sounds sketchy. Never even asked for the name of the baby, or interacted with him. Will not return, and would not recommend. Pros - home visits available. read more

I consulted Ilanit twice for poor milk production and she is definitely a professional and warmhearted LC, needless to say that it is a huge benefit and convenience to clients that she make herself available for home visit. When I was so concerned about my production when my baby was about 2 weeks, she came to observe the way I'm nursing, checked my breasts and baby's mouth etc. and asked about my nursing schedule. After all that she put forward a plan for me. A few days later she did a follow up visit. I was so moved that she was able to come late at night while she was so occupied with her kids at home during the day! She checked everything and talked with me about theory of lactation (in easy words of course) and reduced my stress and anxiety. She also follows up via text message after each visit. I feel so lucky to have used her service and will definitely recommend her to anyone who feels like seeing a LC. read more

Her descriptions and explanations make everything more clear and what was difficult before, suddenly becomes so easy. She covers a lot of ground in a short amount of time .She is never feeling rushed.She is able to diagnose problems quickly and fix it in no time.I had flat nipples.My daughter was on full formula feed for 4 weeks when she was born. Now after 12 weeks my daughter is on exclusive breastfeed. My milk supply has established so well.I am also freezing the breast milk.That happened only with the help of this wonderful consultant.She did return couple of my calls late night while she was at home and explained me everything so well.She has been extremely helpful to my daughter and me and I would certainly call her if I need more advise.
