I don't have a lot of good words to say about Tali's services. To start of, there was a pretty lengthy intake form and when she arrived, we went over the same questionnaire. Her advices were pretty generic and I didn't find it any useful. I had set clear expectations of what I was looking for from the session and that was not addressed. Later, when I followed up with questions on her portal, she declined to help sayinf those could be addressed if a follow up session is scheduled. Overall, it was a waste of time and money. read more

On my first pregnancy I didn't know Tali and I had a horrible breastfeeding experience. I was burned physically and emotionally from trying and not succeeding. I consulted 6 different lactation consultants and didn't feel seen, heard or cared for. It was the same formula trying to be applied on a situation where something else was needed. This experience had me coming with very low hopes when my second baby was born. The big difference is that this time I reached out to Tali for help. Tali was amazing! She made sure she understood what not only the current difficulties are but also what happened with my first born. She came, assisted with no pressure, my baby LOVED (and still does) her and magically we got a better latch! Down the road more challenges come along including some medical conditions I had, but Tali was quick to identify them, to diagnose them and to suggest course of treatment and mitigate them. Thanks to Tali, and only thanks to her, I'm now breastfeeding for 8.5 months after I didn't think I'll make it even one months. If you are debating if it's worth it, it is! I would give Tali more than five stars if I could. I would wholeheartedly recommend her to any new moms/parents, whether or not you feel breastfeeding or other feeding of your baby is going well. First, Tali came to my home during COVID times when stay at home orders had just lifted in our county, but under very thorough screening and prevention precautions. I felt very safe having her in our home. She wore two masks, removed her shoes, brought gloves, and made contact with baby and me only as necessary during the consultation. Second, she came to my house on her day off because I was having concerns that my pediatrician didn't want going past a few days - I had an early term newborn with jaundice. Despite the fact that I encouraged her to come another day besides her "weekend," she insisted on coming at that time, which I really appreciated. Third, when she arrived, she performed the most thorough assessment (both of my baby including his entire mouth, rooting behaviors, sucking/swallowing patterns, etc.) and of me as a new mom (my own health, adjustment to parenthood, milk supply, etc.) that I think I've ever had by a medical professional or clinician of any kind. She did not make me feel as though any of her professional recommendations about my baby's breastfeeding needs/possible interventions were absolute truth (e.g., that I HAD to do a revision of a tongue tie she noted and recommended). However, she presented all of her information during the assessment with so much knowledge and concise data to show me about my own baby that I had full confidence and faith in her assessment and her treatment plan by the end of our two hours appointment. I think most importantly, Tali really put me at ease regarding the couple of things she noticed about my newborn in terms of breastfeeding (I was nervous about a tongue tie revision... and she gave me a lot of encouragement to talk to pediatrician, start with consultation, etc.). She also gave my husband and me a ton of practical recommendations and things to try for baby in general, and also gave us great recommendations for what to monitor over time as it pertained to his breastfeeding, his growth patterns, etc. Tali is knowledgeable and warm. Tali will not nickel and dime you. She met with me once and told me she's "very much in the background" after that unless I want/need her help with other issues. She makes recommendations about follow ups but is not forceful about them at all - she really is there to be helpful as much as parents feel they need. I've already reached out to her since our first consultation and she's been very reliable/responsive with information but didn't charge me for additional questions. Tali wrote me a super bill to submit to my insurance, and she also gave me advice about how to advocate to my insurance company, who doesn't provide in network lactation consultations, why they should cover the service (evidently we have a legal right to such services, which I didn't know). I really look forward to continuing to work with Tali. I would, again, recommend her to all! read more

I'm writing my first review on Yelp in hopes to really help someone who's also struggling with breastfeeding. After going to the newborn club at Kaiser multiple times and triple feeding for the first six weeks, I feared that my daughter was never going to be successful at breastfeeding. Every time I went back to newborn club, I was told that I just had to keep breastfeeding more and that she would get better at it. A friend of mine suggested I consult an independent lactation consultant, and that's when I reached out to Tali. I wish I did sooner. During her initial meeting with me, she not only assessed how the actual breastfeeding was going, but helped come up with a plan that was the best for me as well. She encouraged me to advocate for myself and my daughter to see an OT after her oral assessment showed she had limited oral mobility and showed me some exercises to do with her. On top of that, she noticed I had been using the wrong sized flanges for pumping. Fast forward a month...my daughter is steadily gaining weight and after seeing an OT as well a PT, we have been exclusively breastfeeding. It's not perfect, but it is much better than before I met Tali. The most valuable thing that Tali has given me though is peace of mind. She is communicative on her text portal and will promptly answer my questions and concerns. My 12 week old was on a two week nursing strike/refusal until we saw Tali and we have been successfully breastfeeding since her visit. I'm very impressed by her operations from her website, to scheduling, to post-visit follow up messaging system. She has made it super easy and seamless and her admin (Jennifer) is also really on top of it. Tali was patient and thorough in collecting all the necessary information despite me having a hard time remembering the details. She was gentle and respectful with my daughter, always asking for permission before touching her. She showed genuine care for me and my daughter and offered lots of advice outside of lactation. I recently had baby #2, and since I had so many issues with breastfeeding for my first, I wanted to be proactive this time around and consult an IBCLC during the last few weeks of my pregnancy. Tali came highly recommended to me, and she takes Aetna/Meritain insurance and does in-home visits. My prenatal appointment was really helpful, and I went on to book multiple follow ups with Tali after my baby was born. Tali is very empathetic, well informed, and detail oriented. She asks a lot of questions to make sure her recommendations are tailored to your specific situation, and she's not pushy about her recommendations. She provides prompt real-time assistance via a secure messaging system on her website, and responds to questions and updates within a day, if not hours. I was very happy with Tali's support, and her expertise helped me have a much better experience nursing my second. Together we were able to prevent or resolve, in advance, a lot of the same issues that happened with my first (tongue tie, low milk supply, shallow latch, etc.), and her calm demeanor reassured me and helped me stress out way less than I would have otherwise! I cannot say enough wonderful things about Tali. Long story very very short--- I was referred to Tali from another mama who had a great experience with her. I had seen another IBCLC twice and was still in a lot of pain at 6 weeks of nursing. I saw Tali at 7 weeks and let's just say she couldn't believe was still still breastfeeding. After almost 6 weeks of OT, tongue tie, pumping, LOTS of tears and many messages we got my LO back to breast 100% of the time. Tali is incredible! She's incredibly thorough and super responsive. Our first session, she spent about 30-40 minutes asking questions and trying to deeply understand my situation. Even after working with several lactation consultants in the hospital, I was absolutely blown away by Tali. She knew far more than anyone else I spoke with - a super well-respected lactation consultant diagnosed me without really getting to know my situation and Tali spent the time to dig in and ruled it out. We will forever be grateful to Tali for helping us with our breastfeeding journey. We had a very difficult start with our son where we were triple feeding, I had to use a nipple shield, etc., and we have come such a long way since then because of Tali's help. We reached out to Tali feeling very desperate and hopeless, and she made time to see us right away. She came to our home to evaluate our situation and help come up with a game plan. The in-home approach was really helpful, because she is able to really see and assess each unique situation, and I felt really comfortable. She is always very sweet with our son, and has a really calm and positive presence. She also takes COVID really seriously, which we really appreciate during this newborn period. She is super responsive and detail oriented, and really takes the time to understand our specific situation. We've done several follow-up visits and are able to chat in the online portal about ongoing questions. Overall, Tali is a really fantastic human and LC - very knowledgable, data-driven, extremely supportive, and organized. Summary: Tali is the best! We went from our breastfeeding being very unpleasant and having to supplement after to now breastfeeding only and it being a wonderful experience! Longer story: My wife's nipples were very sore the first 2-3 weeks of breastfeeding, to the point where she needed breast shells to protect her nipples when wearing her bra, had to put lotion on nipples because they were cracking and bleeding a little. Our daughter also was a biter, so that made it even more unpleasant for my wife. We thought about going with another LC, but it was very easy to schedule with Tali online and it was great that she would come to our home instead of us having to go out. And we are so glad we did! Tali's first visit was great! We learned how to help our daughter have a better latch, got to ask Tali lots of questions and we learned a lot! Tali came up with a great plan for us as she noticed our daughter was only eating about 1 oz. total from the breasts. It involved feeding, pumping, and supplementing with bottle. Tali also recommended various exercises that would help our daughter as Tali believed our daughter had tongue tie and possibly still some tenseness in her mouth and neck area because of the long labor. We went the dentist (Dr. Ligh) Tali recommended to get evaluated for a tongue tie. Our daughter did have it but it was not too severe, but the dentist did recommend it and thinks it would help our daughter to eat better at the breast and also in the future hopefully help with pronunciation of words that would have been harder if we did not fix the tongue tie. The dentist gave us exercises we had to do to keep the tie from healing back to what it normally was before the frenectomy. And because we had to force our fingers into our daughter's mouth and we even tried to be playful, our daughter was very unhappy. And for maybe 3-4 days after starting the exercises at home, our daughter no longer fed from the breast at all and really disliked even drinking from the bottle. So we were getting worried....and Tali came to our rescue! She recommended a different way for us to do the tongue exercises and gave us videos to watch. And WOW! It became our daughter's favorite time with us. And we would be able to "sneak" in our tongue exercises without our daughter complaining at all :) And after a few days of that and not traumatizing our daughter anymore, she started feeding on the breast again. We also saw the OT (https://my.php.com/resource/michelle-selber-otrl) Tali recommended for doing bodywork to help with our daughter's tongue muscles, release tension in her head/neck area, and also help our daughter to sleep on the left of her head more as she was getting a flat area on her head since she slept on her right side of the head most of the time. A couple more visits with Tali, renting a scale to see how much our daughter is eating from the breasts, doing the frenectomy with the dentist, seeing the OT, and doing exercises recommended by the OT. We want to happily say, it was worth it! Our daughter now is breastfeeding solely (no more bottles), we no longer need to use formula because my wife's supply is now enough for our daughter, our daughter loves skin on skin time with my wife, our daughter latches on and off wonderfully on her own now without our help, and she sleeps on her left and right side of her head evenly now! Tali is also great because she is very responsive over emails and now her new messaging system! Very helpful whenever we had other questions or concerns. We contacted her very frequently and being able to talk with Tali more than just during our sessions was AMAZING! read more

Tali is amazing. With my first child, I had no problems breastfeeding. But with my second child nothing seemed to work. She was losing weight I called her in tears looking for a lactation consultant. She called me right back, listened to everything I had to say, and helped make a game plan until we could meet a few days later. She came to my house and made me feel so comfortable. She really pays attention to every detail and cares about you. She has a messaging system and keeps in touch, offering advice whenever you need it (not just during your sessions). Tali is seriously AMAZING. After nursing in pain until my son was a month old, I finally decided to look for a lactation consultant. I wish I did it sooner! I told Tali I was averaging about a 7 on a scale of 10 in terms of pain during nursing.  So Tali came to my home and spent 2+ hours with me. She observed a feeding session and helped me try different adjustments.  She had me do all the positions I normally do and watched the various ways I get him to latch on.  She had me try different things until the pain went from about a 7 to a 1!  I was pretty amazed.  Tali was SO supportive and positive and never made me feel like I was doing anything wrong, unlike everyone else I'd talked to, including my doctor and the breastfeeding support group I attended. Tali was the complete opposite and she kept telling me what a great job both my son and I were doing.  I didn't realize that I needed encouragement more than anything else!!!! Long story short, nursing went SO MUCH BETTER after our session with Tali. She is also super organized and efficient and helped me with all the right paperwork with my insurance company -- all over email. The best! I have flat and inverted nipples and thought I won't be able to feed. Tali was there the whole time, before the due date we met and she gave me good advices, at the hospital I called her and she guided me, and after she came to help me. My LO is now 4 months and double her weight (no formula added). Tali is very kind, encouraging/positive, knowledgeable, professional, organized, patient and passionate about her work. I had multiple breastfeeding challenges and struggles with both my children and overall have had great experiences with all the lactation consultants I've encountered in the hospitals. However, I decided to write a review for Tali because she is exceptional! She came over for a home visit for my second baby as I was concerned really worried about my supply dropping with only limited time remaining before returning to work in addition to several other concerns and questions. Not only did she help soothe my anxious state of mind, but she really took the time to get to know me and my baby, watched a whole long feed, measured pre- and post- weights to accurately assess transfer amount, and then wrote up an incredibly thoughtful and actionable plan for us. Everything had improved by the next follow-up visit! She also helped me prepare a pumping plan for back-to-work. You can tell how much she genuinely cares about enhancing the BF relationship between mom and baby. I also like that she is so positive, calm, and non-judgmental: she reminds us busy and stressed out moms that we are doing a great job and that even if the BF doesn't reach our ideal, we are doing the best to offer our babies the best that we can, whatever that may be. read more

I reached out to Tali when my breastfeeding story wasn't going very well. The LCs at the El Camino hospital had misdiagnosed the problem and made it even worse over 4 weeks. The first time Tali saw my kid, she recognized that the kid had a not so obvious tongue tie. We got it corrected and it was day and night difference. Tali saved my breastfeeding -- I was ready to do exclusive pumping. I went from bf+pumping+bottle 8 times a day (!!) to exclusive bf. She was very friendly, patient and very responsive over chat. I would strongly recommend her to anyone. Not to mention she comes home (so convenient during those early days; first appt is 3 hrs long! Tali fit me in on short notice despite being about to leave on vacation. She was super communicative and responsive. Honestly, I had semi low expectations of a lactation consultant that would be covered by insurance, but after reading so much about Tali's demeanor and expertise with tongue/lip ties (my concern with my son), I was optimistic. She was wonderful! Came to the house (really convenient), calm and gentle, yet direct and knowledgeably to the point. I'm a fairly no nonsense person but also pretty private so a lactation consultant makes me semi- uncomfortable, and she fit me well on both sides and made the appt feel super helpful. She followed up right away with referrals, more info and exercises. Gave me a diagnosis for my son that no one had ever mentioned before but checked every single box. Thanks to her, we have been able to take my son off all the medications he was on, as well as giving me a lot more confidence in my ability to feed him. She continued to check in and follow up, as well as answer any questions I had over secure messaging. For my next baby, I will have a consult with Tali the first week home - I'm wishing I had done that with both my boys, as it probably would've totally changed my breastfeeding experiences to date! read more

Tali is the best!!! For a while I nursed in pain and had multiple rounds of mastitis. Tali helped me get through them and taught me how to nurse pain-free. She checked in with me often to see how I'm doing and gave me the feeling that she really cares! Tali helped us with our 3 day newborn who was causing me a lot of grief over cracked, blistering nipples. In our initial consultant, Tali was warm, patient and a great listener. Her assessment was a result of watching how we BF, asking what the pain level was, trying out different positions, to really help pin point what was happening. Then when she looked into my newborn's mouth and showed us the lip and tongue tie, supported by photos from a book on the different levels, her assessment was not pushy but a matter of fact. Then she had us show her the our pump and let us try different flanges to get the right sizing. She was calm, patient and non-judgmental during the entire consult. This wasn't our first baby and she provided new information that we didn't know before (I had seen 5 different LCs before). She referred us to two pediatric dentists who can help us with eval and I'm looking forward to our follow up appointment post the fix! read more

I had trouble breastfeeding my first born, so during my second pregnancy I wanted to consult with a professional. I met with Tali for the first time while still pregnant - so important! She gave me valuable knowledge and real "to do" instructions for the very first hour/days after delivery. When I came home from the hospital we continued to talk on a daily basis and she supported and encouraged me all through the way. I'm so happy to say that thanks to Tali I'm fully breastfeeding my baby! It wasn't an easy journey but she helped me get to where we are today with the right advices and course of action. I am a FTM and have had all possible issues you can find in a book with breastfeeding. Tali has been a god send to us! I reached out to her as I was looking for lactation consultant in Campbell area. Luckily she accepted my insurance (Aetna) and did home visits. Tali made herself available on a very short notice and worked patiently with us for a number of weeks as my baby and I got the hang of breastfeeding. She is amazing!! She is extremely knowledgable, resourceful, professional and most of all encouraging. There were times when I was ready to give up breastfeeding and start with bottles. She worked with me thru all that. And, even now when I am no longer using her services, I email/text her as we face different age appropriate challenges and she continues to be a great resource.
