They were 8 and 6, and really needed help. With her knowledge and patience, Lynne Merrill began to work with them, and within the year they were both reading, above grade level! The programs that Lynne uses WORK, and along with her kind approach, the children had great success. Nicole Dudley also worked with them years ago, and has been tutoring both of them in math this year, making such a difference in their confidence and skills. She is also so kind and inspiring, and just a fantastic teacher! When I was a child, I wished for a tutor, especially for math, but we couldn't afford . Today I am so happy to give the gift of Lynne and Nicole to my grandchildren, and watch them flourish! I highly recommend Merrill Education Center, and I am beyond grateful for the help they continue to give to all of their students! Laura

It only added to my stress and anxiety that revolved around school and writing. We all knew something was very wrong but I never fit into any of the more commonly known learning disabilities. I started seeing a new therapist and psychiatrist who worked closely together. They suggested that perhaps I may have something called Written Expressive Disorder. This happened to be the break through that was needed. My grandmother delved into research about the disorder and came across something called an Educational Therapist. From there we discovered the amazing Dr. Shannon Kroner. I met with Dr. Kroner and immediately started working with her. We worked together for a year. By the end of that year I went from barely being able to write a single paragraph to writing a college level three page paper with confidence! I signed up for a religious studies class at Pasadena City College and finally experienced educational success on my own. Without the help of Dr. Kroner I never would have gained the confidence in my ability to write anything longer than three sentences or reach academic achievement independently.

This program is a glamorized babysitting facility with middle schoolers as camp counselors and mediocre staff in the classrooms. My son expressed that two different adult "teachers" were unkind toward him, and that is something a child should NEVER experience, let alone the hands-off afterschool babysitting club style environment that they have established.

For those of you looking for a place that will help your kids out with school, this is one of the best and most unique places out there. Unlike Kumon and Sylvan, Homework Bound focuses on the homework the children bring home rather than bombarding them with additional work and exercises. The teachers help the students understand their homework first and reach the root of the problem that way. Thus, those who need some extra focus can get that and those who need additional guidance can receive that as well. The program focuses on organization and time-keeping skills that will help the children with their homework and can also be applied elsewhere even after they leave the center. The teachers are great, caring, funny, and also focusead. They are chosen very carefully and put a lot of heart into what they are doing. Mr. Vesagas, the director, is also a very caring man who devotes so much of his time to his program and the children. He is extremely passionate about helping each child individually and always makes sure that they stay on track in terms of finishing their work. I definitely recommend this place if you are looking for some extra tutoring for your child. While this isn't a "day-care," it is a great alternative to it. Bring your child home in the evening with their homework finished and enjoy some very much needed family time. :)

I was challenged to look honestly at myself, my patterns, and the kind of person I am committed to being. One of the biggest takeaways for me was the opportunity to reflect deeply on my values and the way I want to show up in my life. The impact of this experience extends beyond me. My daughter will grow up in a household where both of her parents are committed to doing the work, growing, and living intentionally. That alone makes this experience invaluable. The leaders and staff may never fully know the ripple effect they create, but I can confidently say they made a difference in my life and in my family's future. If you're willing to show up, participate, and be open to growth, this workshop can be a truly powerful experience. It felt like gray clouds were always surrounding me. This work gave me a different lens of my life and tools to ground myself with self-love, worth, and confidence. After my consultation with Milly Roseman, my family felt motivated and optimistic for the first time. Milly was able to understand my son in one session and gave him the confidence he desperately needed. During his junior and senior years, we were exposed to the amazing resources at Growing Minds. Milly paired my son with a tutor to help prep him for AP's and his SAT. Emily would reach out regularly to ensure we met deadlines and Betsey would call me when we needed to see Milly or just to see how we were doing. Growing Minds was there in every aspect of this crazy college journey and there is no way my family could have survived it with out them. My son was accepted to over 11 schools, including his dream school and I have no doubt in the role Milly and Growing Minds had in this HUGE accomplishment. I have already hired them for my incoming 9th grader to ensure she has the best support, is one step ahead of her peers, and she has the best guidance moving through high school. Thank you to the amazing team at Growing Minds. We are forever thankful.
