Illuzion Glass Galleries - Art Galleries Near Me - Denver, Colorado

I'd like to rant about a pretty awful experience I just had with Illuzions Gallery in Denver, after buying a $3k Eusheen piece from them. This Eush piece "Spring Flow" from 2010 arrived in my hands last Friday. Much to my dismay, the piece had a very large crack in one of the large canes attached to the mouthpiece, that ran across all the way from the base to the tip of the cane. Luckily for me, I was able to prove the crack existed before they shipped the piece, from Illuzion's IG posts. While I was obviously not happy, I told them I would rather not return the piece for a full refund if it could be avoided, because I am really in love with the piece and have no intention to sell it, and it would be a hassle as well as risky to send back a cracked piece like this with a metal stand. Since they were reluctant to offer any options, I proposed these options: 1. For Eush to repair it to 100% condition cosmetically and structurally - even though the piece will be worth a bit less even with a flawless repair 2. If repair is impossible/not viable, discount the piece to wholesale price or 50% of the purchase value, whichever is higher (since they most likely didn't pay more than $1000-1200 for this piece) 3. Or let me apply a store credit larger in value than the refund amount from Option 2, for me to buy another Eusheen or Buck piece from them Illuzion's response was that they COULD ask Eush for a repair quote, if not I will need to return the piece for a refund. The cherry on top was that they were expecting me to pay for the repair job from Eusheen, and wait an unspecified amount of time, as well as take the risk of the piece breaking in the repair, 100% on my own. I completely lost my words after hearing this... They completely refused to take any sort of responsibility whatsoever for their mistake in not catching/disclosing an obvious flaw, let alone having a customer almost end up with a piece that has an undisclosed structural damage... This is all while treating me like I was the one who cracked the piece and am now trying to pull a fast one. Their excuse was that "It's not our fault since nobody caught it after taking countless pictures and videos. 2/2 "And you got a $6-7k piece for $3k so you should be happy." I will also say none of these pictures were posted on their website, or provided to me at all at the time of the purchase. This piece got taken off Illuzion's website last year for unknown reason they refused to disclose... which is also a bit suspicious now that I think about it. Also I'm sure Denver locals could confirm this, but this is a piece that has been displayed for the last 10 years at $2200-2500 both online and in person, and did not sell. In addition, I have purchased two Eush pieces in the last 2 weeks that are more valuable (with more work and female joints) than this one also for $3k each, both from shops and without any flaws, let alone a fucking crack. Needless to say, I am livid right now while typing this... I own/run a shop myself (timelessglassgallery.com), albeit much smaller than Illuzion but I do sell a fair number of high-valued pieces including ones worth well over $10k. If I made the same mistake of displaying a $3000+ piece for multiple years and then shipping it off to a customer without noticing/disclosing the crack, I would apologize profusely, and feel extremely lucky as well as grateful to be able to come out with no financial loss or damage in reputation... Obviously that's not how Illuzion's owner and manager felt about this whole thing. I'm not blaming them for supposedly not catching the crack, after all I didn't see it either when I viewed the piece 4-5 years ago in person, although the piece was in a display case and it was not up close, but their response was just unforgivable to me. It really sucks, but I am returning the piece for a full refund, and really hoping nothing will happen to it on the way back, especially because the piece is cracked after all... While I am grateful for large shops like Illuzion for supporting the industry, this isn't the way a legitimate gallery (or any business for that matter) should treat a paying customer. Thanks for your time in reading this, rant over. Make sure you inspect your pieces as soon as you receive them, and ask for plenty of pictures before purchasing, even from a large and well-established gallery. I read more

This is not a gallery. This is a smokers shop with a bit of pretty glasswork inside. During our day trip to Denver we walked in but immediately the smell became a bit much for me. I was hoping to see an alt version of Chihuly glass, which we'd seen while in Seattle - but even though the ray gun and pirate ship were beautiful, the bulk of the items were smoking tools and everything was extremely overpriced. Not what we expected at all. This is not a must-see for Denver, and can definitely be skipped on your tour. read more

They have pieces starting from $15 to $50,000 You can tell the artists who blew these work of arts really thought it out and took his time to make the piece perfect. I liked your business and product availability....... we drive across the town just so my friend could check out the store. We we're having a beautiful day..........Until a loose wiener belonging to an employee tried to attack us through the front doors and again about 10 minutes later when we were inside. It was literally about to bite my SD in the face...... not cool. Employees acted like it was nothing, actually they laughed at me and thought it was cute the little demon tried to injure my very highly trained service dog twice........they didn't care about us our safety or good business practices.......My heart is still pounding. I am a lifelong lover of art and cannabis. This store combines these two passions unlike anywhere else I've been. I have never seen functional glass this exquisite before. Whether or not somebody would actually smoke out of a $50k piece is another thing, but you could. I've found the staff to be professional. Edit: After reading the other reviews I came to one conclusion: Illuzion paid Yelp to help address negative reviews. This place should get over itself and just charge an admission fee. As my roommate puts it "Illuzions is the first place I would go if I wanted a glass dragon" implying he would never enter for a smoking product. NOTICE TO ALL N00BS AND TOURISTS: This place target the naive with outrageous prices for products they produce. The "value" is that which they place on it. I asked the saleperson "what makes this $200 glass piece [that looks like the Noisy Cricket from MiB no less] so special" offering to allow him to sell me on it. "uhhh, oh, well, it's got thick glass." I've spent a lot of money on pieces throughout the years, paid for true ARTWORK by Jerome Baker back in the day. Amaze-BALLS is really the only word to describe Illuzion Glass Gallery. Even if this type of shop isn't your cup of tea, I urge you to go in and have a look around. If you can't appreciate the art that is displayed within this store, then I truly feel sorry for you. This is really the best shop of its kind and is truly an art gallery. It's by far the best glass shop have ever been in and, IMO, the best in the state. The selection and quality of glass here is astounding. They have so many artists on display it's a little overwhelming and hard to really look at everything. It's filled with case after case of the coolest pieces you'll ever see. The staff is super friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to show you anything you want to look at. If you're lucky enough to show up when they're doing live demos in their on-site glass blowing studio, then you're in for a treat. I haven't had the chance to see any demos yet, but I've heard great things. These folks are professionals and it really shows at this shop. Go here and get your mind blown. read more

I haven't been in the store but for a month I was searching for a David Sugich novascope that my partner had seen at the Eclipse gathering. He was so enthused to tell everyone about this scope and was super bummed he couldn't show anything more than a vid clip. I was looking for the site, trying to contact people in tags online directly, googling like crazy and still couldn't find any luck until Sam, I believe his name was, replied to me with such patience and intricate help. Took my girlfriend here to get her first bong for her birthday and we loved the entire experience. I stopped by a week ago when we were visiting the area but now that we are living here I figured we should become customers. as soon as we walked in we were greeted by Chris and we told him that we had a budget. he worked with our budget and explained the differences in pieces for my girl since she is new to this scene. we actually walked out with two pieces instead of one because of the help of the staff. Pathetic customer service, Illuzion does not stand behind their products. I bought a glass dabber here that wasn't cheap and it cracked from the heat within the first 10 uses. I brought it back in and they said there was nothing they could do. I bought a $150 glass water pipe, less than a month later the elbow piece came off when I took off the bowl, the glass was very thin in that spot. I called the store and a woman told me they stand behind some of their glass, when I tried to clarify what she meant she became belligerent with me. This place has a big inventory so they feel they don't need customer service or accountability, I can't imagine making a large purchase here after I was treated shabbily after being sold defective product. read more

Rude management! Upon tromping through their unshoveled sidewalk and asking why it wasn't yet shoveled (and all the other businesses had clean sidewalks), the reply was a lackadaisical, "we have four hours and we're working on the back." Back as in parking lot. What a discourtesy to your Baker neighbors. While the letter of the law may be 4 hours, the attitude that peds and neighbors are insignificant is the message that is broadcast by not shoveling and by the unapologetic apathy. To be fair, I have been an advocate for these guys since I lived in Omaha. Unfortunately they do not stand by their products and after seeing yet another example of this I have decided I will never go back. This place is nothing short of amazing. Although you'll find plenty of pieces for under $100, this is more of a museum than a pipe shop. Some of the glasswork here is incredibly intricate and detailed. Some of the more expensive pieces go for more than $20,000. Highly recommended, even for just a quick walkthrough.
