They say there's a "cutoff date" to cancel, but it feels completely arbitrary. I was just one day past the deadline and was still charged for another month. When I tried to sort it out, Chelsey at the front desk did her best to help, but her manager, Ryan, who she was texting at the time, made it clear he didn't care about my situation at all. Overall, this location feels poorly managed and not particularly clean. I'd recommend checking out another gym if you want a more professional experience.

The practitioners are friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. After speaking with one student, he mentioned that it's like a family there which is great. Professor Gabetta's classes are well-structured, with plenty of time for drilling and reps, which I really appreciated. I picked up several new details--both drills and submission techniques--that I'm excited to bring back home. God willing, if I'm back in town I'll be sure to keep this gym in mind for more training. I have met multiple higher belts at other gyms that have left Genesis because their jiujitsu was getting WORSE. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE. The 5 star reviews are all fake. DO NOT TRAIN HERE!!! Especially if you are new to jiujitsu. 1. The techniques being taught here are completely incorrect. You will be learning very bad jiujitsu. 2. This place is incredibly cliqy. Wendell the owner loves to claim "family" setting but he has his favorites and loves to micro manage. Not a good place to enjoy yourself while learning jiujitsu. 3. Don't listen to the people who train there. They are either too new to know any better. OR they are one of Wendell's little pawns that follow his every word and believe everything he says. 4. There are no higher belts. Think about it. They have been open a long time and ALOT of higher belts have came and left. Myself included. Because we have been training long enough and have trained at enough places to spot the red flags. 5. Wendell has lower belts teaching techniques that are just as bad if not worse than how Wendell teaches. You are paying full price for bad technique and blue belt teachers who don't know what they are doing.

I signed up for the gym the first day it opened and honestly was excited to see what this fitness…read morecenter had to offer. When I went to workout I was very surprised with how well the management staff and owners built the gym up. There is plenty of equipment ranging from strength training to cardio machines and even an enclosed room for other activities(yoga, interval training, dancing, and etc.). The equipment is just the start of the great experiences and excellent amenities that you will find at this location. The faculty from front desk employees to janitorial staff takes pride in their positions making sure the gym is a place where you feel welcome and motivated to workout. I believe the town of Okeechobee was longing for a great fitness center and thanks to the OFC we were able to adopt one. This gym I believe will be a great success changing lives while helping individuals reach their fitness goals getting them in the body they want.
