Great food, got the chicken pho and the portion was more than enough. Our waitress was very attentive. We went on a Friday night, the ambiance is nice inside but it was very noisy and hard to hear each other hence the 4 stars but otherwise had a good time

Ima Izakaya has a great vibe. It reminds me a lot of certain restaurants in Toronto and Portland: eclectic, cozy, and funky. The food is pretty good. I got the robata sampler: some notable standouts were: -the triggerfish jerky: thin cut and with a hint of sweetness, the fish flavor was delicate and tasty. It reminded me a little of the dried cuttlefish I ate growing up in Hawaii, but a much more refined version - chicken meatball: this was juicy, hearty, and had great flavor. The teriyaki sauce was flavorful without being too sweet - shrimps: these were expertly grilled. They were tender inside, and had a nice hint of charcoal flavor from the grilling - pork belly: this was a great cut of meat. Very decadent and rich, with lots of umami from marinating before grilling We also got some appetizers that were quite serviceable. Overall I'd give this place a 4.5 stars if I could.

Busy spot but worth the wait! Our table of 4 really enjoyed the drinks, apps, and entrees. It was 8:00 pm on a Thursday and we waited ~30 mins for a table. We started with chicken karaage bites and calamari. Both had delicious dipping sauces and were nicely fried. Both apps came out very quickly and were hot. I'd give the apps a 4/5. Everyone really enjoyed the udon noodles, most of us got miso butter pan fried. This meal was super flavorful and had a lot of the miso butter! The noodles were perfectly cooked and there were a lot of the extras added on top for additional flavors. The ginger tori soup was also enjoyed. The servers were on top of it, bringing us water carafes and everything we needed quickly. The restaurant is low lit which created a nice vibe. Obsessed with the stained glass entryway! The restaurant is located in the beautiful area of Corktown with the Grand Central Station just steps away, giving you something to do while you wait for your table. Typically very easy to find parking.

We had reservations at a cocktail bar, but arrived a bit too early so we popped in here for a quick drink. I ordered the Jasmin Collin's and was really impressed with the flavors. We had a limited time to be here since we had reservations next door, but we were able to pit in a quick order for some dumplings and we ordered the lamb and mushroom ones and were wanting more. I cannot wait to come back here to come specifically for this place.

The ambiance here is so calm and serene. The service is fast and our sever was very knowledgeable. I wanted to try their ramen because I'm favorite place is rather far and this would be a closer option. I'd rather drive their ramen came no where close to what my kids and I like it lacked a lot of flavor notes. The dumplings made up for the ramen they're great and I'll be back for more.

This was the first stop (and meal) after my sisters & I landed in Detroit. It was a colder day, so this meal was just absolute perfection from start to end. The service was awesome and even quick, though it was surprisingly busy in the early evening time. Everything from the appetizers to the UDON NOODLES were so good. We basically finished everything up at that point. I highly recommend trying this place out and hope to come back sometime soon!

I came here so hungry I did not get to take a picture of my main food but it was so yummy! I've been wanting to go here and it was my friend's birthday so our server gave her the matcha brownie and I swear that was the best matcha ice cream I've ever had thus far. It was just the right amount of matcha and the color was perfect! I had the Smoked Pork Belly, Shrimp Scallion Dumplings, and Jasmine Collins. Everything was delicious and the smoked pork belly was so juicy and tender. The Jasmine Collins was a light and refreshing drink perfect for people who want to drink but not taste a lot of alcohol. Our server was nice and the overall environment was lovely I can't wait for when it's warmer and the outside seating opens up. I definitely want to come back and try more and I highly recommend going for happy hour!

We had dinner at Ima Izakaya and were excited to try some of the newer menu items. The space was dimly lit and relaxed, not too busy, and service was timely. Not overly warm, but efficient. We started with the ahi tuna tartare (4.5/5), which ended up being the clear standout. The tuna was fresh and nicely dressed, and the sesame rice crisps, while oversized on the plate, were actually perfect for each bite. The avocado added just enough richness to round everything out. I honestly wish we had ordered a second. I went with a couple of handrolls, and this is where things leveled off (3/5). The salmon avocado roll was fine, but the salmon was overseared and flaky instead of smooth and tender. The spicy tuna handroll was standard, though the tuna felt overly minced and a bit pasty. At $9 a handroll, I would prefer less handling and a cleaner texture. Sometimes simple is better. My wife ordered the chicken katsu curry (3.5/5). If you have had Japanese market curry rice with a fresh chicken katsu, this dish brings those elements together, but it does not elevate them beyond that. At $26, we hoped for a bit more refinement or a little twist. The portion of pickled ginger was surprisingly large and mixed into the dish more than we would have liked. It is probably best to ask for that on the side. Overall, it did not quite do it for us. We will definitely be back, but next time we will probably just stick to the classics. Ramen and udon all the way!

I loved the vibe and the interior of the restaurant, it's beautiful! $5 happy hour was amazing, with a menu where every item is $5. The Jasmine Collins cocktail was light and refreshing. The chicken bites had some spice and a great sauce to dip them in. The pork belly skewers were tender and delicious. We would love to come back and try the ramen!

Sooooooooo good! Best ramen I've had! We got a carryout for a cozy night in. I loved it so much! I had the Yuzu miso ramen with tofu and it was excellent. The porcini broth was very flavorful and the tofu was delicious and a nice, firm texture. Veggie dumplings as a starter was very tasty and the spicy Bok Choi was the perfect side. I loved the spice! Everything was so flavorful and perfect. My boyfriend really enjoyed the Golden Curry Don. Lots of great vegetarian and vegan options. I definitely want to eat their food again.

If you are looking for rich, well balanced, flavorful ramen this is the place for you! We got the pork tonkotsu ramen and it was phenomenal. The pork was extremely well seasoned and it was a nice juicy size. The bowl is huge so I shared it with my husband and we were both stuffed by the end of our meals We also got the edamame which was the best I've ever had. I'm not usually a big edamame fan to be honest but the seasoning on these edamame brought new life and meaning to eating it. 10/10. My father in law joined us for lunch and had the ginger tori ramen. He never had ramen before and is a little picky with his food but he ate the whole bowl. I tried some of his and it was good. If you're looking for a good intro to ramen that's a good one to start with. It tastes like an elevated top ramen from college days We also got the salmon avocado hand roll which was extremely good. It was very fresh and the combo of flavors was delightful. Our only complaint is for the price it was a bit small The grilled asparagus and mushroom skewers were my least favorite. I didn't like the combination of the two and the texture was slightly off putting. It was small enough to not ruin our overall experience but just wouldn't have again. The drinks were very well curated mix of cocktails with Japanese influence on classic cocktails. They were a tad pricey but worth it This place is not a sit down for a fancy meal in a stuffy place. This is a place you come for exceptional food without the fluff of being pretentious. It felt as intimate as someone's backyard but still clean and inviting. The staff is extremely knowledgeable of how the food is prepared and made sure we were taken care of at all times. Highly recommend

I was staying down the street and saw happy hour 3-6 and it did not disappoint. Upon arrival I sat at the bar as I was alone (also not sure if HH is just at the bar). But the bartender was prompt and very nice and food was delicious. Perks of happy hour is they have small bits, so I got to try multiple things, I would even recommend going with someone so you can share even more items.

In town for personal reasons, I found out that some of my work teammates were also in town and meeting up for dinner at this Ima Izakaya location. I'd heard such great things about it (and never want to pass up the opp to meet up with friends), so I kind of invited myself to join them! It was a Wednesday evening around 7pm and the place was packed! We started with some appetizers (edamame, fries, and dumplings) and all was stellar including the service. However, we needed more time before placing our entree orders and at that time, our server may have given up on us a bit due to a larger party... we had to flag someone down to take our order after a pretty long wait. Entrees were not quite as much as a hit as the apps, but they were still pretty good... we had a variety of food amongst our party of four ranging from the eggplant, a noodle dish, a ceviche, and something else. I would absolutely return and probably try the ramen next time as well as a cocktail or two... I think we just had an "off night" with service and ordered wrong too. Still good, but imagine it will be great next time!

The menu is accessed through a QR code on the table, which I'm personally not a huge fan of since I try to stay off my phone while dining. That said, the menu is extensive with plenty of variety, so there really is something for everyone. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Everything tasted fresh and high quality. We ordered the Gyoza, California Roll, Ruby Roll, Tekka Don, and Miso Soup. Everything was good, but the Tekka Don was definitely my favorite, and the Miso Soup was delicious as well. The drinks were probably the biggest disappointment. The beer was overpriced, especially considering the serving sizes and compared to what we've paid for many of the same beers at other restaurants, where they're often available on draft as well. The wine selection could also use some major improvement. Most of the options leaned toward the sweeter side, and the quality just didn't seem to match the quality of the food. Since I couldn't find a wine I wanted, I ordered the Lychee Martini instead. It was okay, but definitely not worth the price, and I wouldn't have ordered a second pretty sweet. The wine and cocktails are priced similarly to what you'd expect to pay for higher-end drinks, but unfortunately, the quality just isn't there. These felt more like $7 drinks being sold at premium prices. Even the presentation of my martini was a little strange--it was garnished with two loose flower petals rather than a full flower, which looked more odd than intentional. Unfortunately, the drink selection would probably be the biggest reason we'd choose carryout or another restaurant next time. When I go out for dinner, having a really good glass of wine or a well-made cocktail is part of the experience for me, especially when the drinks are priced at a premium. Service was friendly, and our server was helpful and knowledgeable, but unfortunately it was slow. It took a while to get drinks, additional soy sauce, or have someone check back with us, and we had to flag our server down several times. To be fair, they definitely weren't standing around doing nothing. Bash seemed to have a steady stream of carryout orders, and our server spent much of our visit packing those orders. We actually felt bad for how slammed they were compared to the rest of the servers. It seems like they either need a dedicated person handling carryout or additional staff so the dine in service doesn't suffer when takeout is busy. Overall, the food was excellent and absolutely worth returning for. With some improvements to the drink selection and staffing, the dine in experience could be just as good as the food.

Having spent time exploring Japan and eating plenty of sushi there, this is probably the closest I've come in Michigan to recreating that experience. The focus is on traditional and straightforward: quality fish, careful preparation, and letting the ingredients speak for themselves rather than covering everything in sauces and toppings. The sushi and sashimi have been consistently excellent across my visits, and I especially appreciate that the menu goes well beyond the typical American sushi restaurant. There are plenty of traditional Japanese dishes and chef's-choice options, so it's a place where I'm always tempted to try something different. The atmosphere adds to the experience too. It has this intimate, neighborhood Japanese restaurant vibe that reminds me so much of stumbling upon a sushi spot in Kyoto. If you love traditional Japanese food and care more about quality and authenticity than elaborate specialty rolls, Sharaku is absolutely worth the trip. One of the best Japanese dining experiences I've found in Michigan, and a place I'll continue coming back to.

AMBIANCE - the place seemed very cozy, with booths, a handful of tables and seating at the sushi bar. This place was JUMPING on a Tuesday. I'm actually glad I made reservations. Bunch of old Asian dudes working behind the sushi counter - place seemed legit. SERVICE - our server was very attentive and was helpful with recommendations. He was very patient as we had MANY questions about the menu, and what we should be getting. MENU - this place had a pretty extensive menu. The first page of the menu had their daily specials which seemed to be a pretty deep selection by itself. They had many of your standard Japanese fare, though their appetizer list seemed to be deeper than most. They also had a fair number of sushi combos, however, according to our server, those are all chef's choice, and said they tended to be more basic type rolls/fish. One thing that was unfortunate was that the sushi rolls did not have a description of what was included in them, so we had to get clarification on a few of the rolls we were interested in. FOOD - we decided to get a smattering of items. we started with the deep fried oysters, chicken karage, and some along with some fried scallops they had on special. The oysters were good, while the karage and scallops were just "ok." Good, but nothing to write home about. We also ordered a couple of rolls - we did the spider rolls (soft shell crab), a tempura shrimp roll, dragon roll, and two eel nigiri. The eel nigiri were excellent. The rolls while good.... left me wanting a bit. From the other reviews that I read, this place is good on quality, and less on the quality, and this was on full display with the rolls. Besides the nigiri, the rolls seemed light, especially our spider roll which was only 4 pieces (I dont think I've ever seen that before). Even the dragon roll seemed small. We probably could have just gotten more nigiri in lieu of dragon roll. OVERALL - while the food was good, for the price you pay, it does not seem worth it. Maybe if we had gotten more nigiri or chirashi, we could have appreciated it more, but this place was too far and too expensive for what it was. Maybe the lunch specials make it worth coming here, but this would not be anywhere on my list of places to go for sushi in the metro Detroit area. Celebrity Rating - Salt Bae

They will also accommodate food allergies if you let them know, which is great, because my husband has a seafood allergy. We both ended up ordering tonkatsu set meals. My husband also ordered some gyoza and I ordered a croquette. The atmosphere was very liminal and it felt so different than any other restaurant I've been to. There was Japanese television playing. Our food didn't take long to come out, and we were in love with our meals! We were honestly surprised the set meals came with so much, but we loved trying everything. The pasta salad and the dressing on the veggie salad weren't really my taste, but everything else was divine! My husband was thoroughly impressed and said it was some of the best food he's ever had.

I ordered the Shoyu Ramen with extra egg, pork and noodles! I will say that while I do think the food was good, I wouldn't necessarily call this restaurant the cleanest place I've ever been too when it comes to a ramen spot. I think some small adjustments in this area could really take this restaurant to the next level. I'll still come back as they're still many items on the menu id love to try one day!

When the Korean woman was pouring the soup into the container over the SINK, she dropped the container into the sink and then I saw her scoop up the beef and noodles with her hands back into the container. She then proceeded to just add more soup to the container and pack it up for me. When I confronted her about it, he acted dumb and said it didn't happen. I told her I was waiting on the side where I could see into the kitchen, she said o the content spilled into an empty pot in the sink, but then I pointed out some of the spilled ingredients still in the pool of dirty water in the sink, she still tried to deny it. She wasn't willing to make me a new one, I was adamant about getting a new soup or my money back, she eventually relented and agreed to make me a new soup. I was so upset that I didn't stand in the kitchen to make sure whether or not she just gave me the old container. I got angrier thinking about this on the way home, now I don't feel comfortable dirnking this soup and am throwing it away.
