I had the good fortune to be partnered with Rangel in a fundraising Dancing with the Stars competition. I had no ballroom dancing experience and didn't know what to expect, and was of course very nervous to meet him. Not only did Rangel put me right to ease, he truly taught me as much of his craft as I could absorb. After every lesson I walked away with more technical knowledge. We won the judges part of the competition, and so many in attendance have come up to me to tell me that they felt that our dances truly the glamorous experience they expected. I'm a frequent performer (in the non-dance arena) and know that a non professional or egotistic person can completely ruin an experience like this, just as a stellar pro can help you have the experience of a life time. That was my experience via Rangel, with the silver lining being that my teenage daughter was mesmerized by what we did and acutely tweeted that her Mom is the coolest Mom ever. Also, Veronika helped me just by being so kind and approachable, and her partner won second with the judges. I'll dance again somehow, someway (it's a two hour drive)! Rangel & Veronika are top ranked competitors & instructors and I can't believe how lucky we are to have that caliber of talent available to us. Their passion for dance is contagious and their instruction motivates you to achieve goals you never thought possible. I first was introduced to Veronika shortly after Studio22 opened in Dallas. At that time Veronika was teaching the American style and I loved her group rumba and waltz classes. Whenever there were less ladies than men, she would "fill in" and always helped me with advice on how to improve. I remember when I introduced myself after one of her classes. She looked me in the eye and was genuinely interested in my questions. Little did I know that after she left the studio to be full time with Louis Van Amstel's show, she would return and I started taking lessons with her. It was at that time I met Rangel (her new partner) for the first time. For the last three years, I have had weekly lessons with Veronika and occasional coaching with Rangel. What I love so much about both of them is their passion, not only for competing at the professional level, but for their strong desire to share their knowledge with their students and anybody who wants to learn how to dance - whether it is an experienced dancer, one who has never had a lesson, a couple who wants to learn how to dance for their wedding and young and old.
