Everyone that works for the company is extremely nice and very professional. The day starts with registration followed by a class that teaches you every thing you need to know about driving the race car. The class was very thorough and the teacher was great! Following the class you receive a body suit and helmet, then you're off to get in the car and drive around the track. As far as driving the race car, my boyfriend was the happiest I have ever seen him. He had a huge smile on his face when he got out of the car. He told me he would definitely take part in the Rusty Wallace Racing Experience again. I cannot say enough positive things about our experience. I highly recommend this company! Then, hanging out with my sister, we stopped a new gallery that had just opened in East Atlanta Village. NAIO Gallery. My sister met the owner at some event and was stopping by to see the opening exhibit. I was just along for the ride. Oh what a ride. This gallery fits right in with the cool, funky hipness of EAV. I was suprised when I walked in and saw work that I'd just been reading about. (Truthfully, I felt really cutting edge) I got up close and personal with a few pieces and was glad I came. I had a chance to sit at the bar counter and chat with the owner. Very very smart lady. She gave me some tips that are really paying off. Definately adding this to my list of social venues. Date-worthy and party-worthy for sure.

She had gone to a similar painting event in the past and had a terrible experience, so I really had to push her to go this time. I was honestly shocked when she said, "I actually had fun." While I do wish she had spent a little more time demonstrating brush techniques and offering help to beginners, she created a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The music was a bit loud, but it added to the lively vibe. We also made candles during our visit -- a total five-star process. The instructions were clear, the scents were so fun to explore, and it felt like a creative, sensory adventure. Some of the candle label stickers were unavailable, which was a little disappointing, but probably beyond the business's control. This small business is absolutely worth supporting. You can feel how much love, creativity, and heart fills the space. As a nurse, I especially appreciated the painting on the wall honoring healthcare workers -- such a thoughtful touch. Best part? I'm bummed that Jang C. got to write, "Flux was boring," first. Because that's what I was going to…read morewrite. I went with a friend and we both thought it was boring. I only went into one gallery but that experience was so overwhelming that I didn't go into another one. The gallery was very hot inside with lots of people and I felt like I had to hurry through. But the art I saw was pretty cool. I saw a couple of outdoor pieces that I liked (see photos), but much of what I saw was a bit average. Once you've seen one painted lady you've seen them all, right? And since I live near L5P I see white kids with dreads dancing in the street all the time; it's not that impressive. I think if they condensed it to one street, it would have a more festive feel to it. Also, everything felt a bit random instead of deliberately placed to catch your eye. I dunno, maybe I've been to so many festivals that I'm picky about how entertainment is presented. I will give Flux Night another try in a few years to see how it grows/changes. *A note on parking: I parked for $5 at one of the small lots on Spring Street, but I was there by 7:30. The lot is a short walk across the street to the start of the festival.

Yeah, few of the stuff I saw looked cool and seemed like they put a lot of work into it. But I'm too old to stay up this late to appreciate this stuff. They had people yelling through megaphones. At first, I thought it was people who were evangelizing. But they were just talking about some revolution. I saw ballet dancers playing a dancing game. I didn't understand the game. They just walked along lines and did some ballet moves. People put papers in between 2 buildings. Those were cool, I guess. I didn't understand it though. I guess they were suppose to change colors or something? Sophie Farewell looked like a Monty Python set. Maybe I should've stayed and listened to their babbling. Their sets looked cool because they built these tall towers that represented a mountain and a moon where they stood on and did their thing. Inside one of the buildings, they had a smoke cannon. And they had murals that people took pictures in front of. One of the streets had spotlights and some bat-like screeches playing. I guess it was suppose to be holophonic. There were other stuff, but I didn't find them memorable. Someone was cracking a whip. There were some costumed people, but after Dragon-con, these guys looked sub-par. An informal dance circle formed somewhere. However, I didn't see any bboys doing their thing. It was just people dancing badly . Like I said, the parking was bad. I suggest people to bike there if they can. They have a bike valet. Or you can take Marta. But driving there could be a pain unless you want to park a mile away near the Phillips Arena or Georgia Dome area. The parking will cost $10. I think if you come early, you might score some free street parking. I left around 10:30 PM. Maybe all the cool stuff happens later at night. Then again I did come alone. I guess it would be more fun with friends. I don't know though. I met up with some people and it was still boring. Maybe if I took some of the stuff I smelled throughout the streets, it would've made my experience better.
