Aboriginal piece by Maisie Ward of Australia
    Jarrod W.

Wow! Simply wow. It took me three years to get off my butt and get a aboriginal piece i bought in Australia and i was simply blown away! We both brainstormed and she found some great ideas, but it came out even better than i thought. I cannot wait to get some more things framed. It is an expensive thing in general, but when you can have someone create a canvas piece and make it look like a historical relic, it's worth it!

Mary Doerr's and Ginny Findeisen's art gallery sits on an unlikely, but up-and-coming strip of Burnet Road, just north of 45th Street. The gallery houses an impressive variety of prints and original art, all with themes of the Southwest, Central Texas, and most especially Austin. I was surprised at the quality and quantity of works the small gallery had to offer. Beautiful prints of the Austin hotspots, the longtime institutions, the most frequently captured scenes and skylines. The employee on duty let us browse while he worked in the back (the gallery is also a full-service custom framing shop). I am bothered by hoverers, so his casual approach was a gesture of trust that I appreciated. Images of Austin also has calendars, stationary and cool specialty greeting cards. Stop by and take a look at the Barton Springs painting or the unique way in which Mary Doerr has captured our city's bat obsession in "Nowhere in Austin". Or, peruse the website for a full catalog of the work. I would highly, highly recommend this gallery to anyone who's in love with Austin. Images of Austin is awesome.

I took in two archival prints by Arthur Rackham for my fiancé's birthday. The staff helped me pick out the perfect layout and frame. I love the way they turned out. A proper frame crafted by experts set these prints in a glow. I am looking forward to bringing more pieces to them in the future.

A Jeremy Sorese piece i just picked up. I am beyond thrilled with how it came out.

I have already had multiple items framed from this location, but recently I brought in four pieces. I piece I asked for some special modifications to the piece and they were able to accommodate all of my requests. You can't even tell where they made the modifications I asked for. The frame materials they use are the best and they really live up to the name "Fast". When I brought the items in, they told me when they would be completed and it wasn't that long of a wait. But to my surprise, they had them all finished a week sooner! The people who work there are also the best. Kate helped me and she is absolutely amazing! She was great at helping me pick out mat and framing, sizing and everything I needed. When I picked up the finished products, they were perfect! They even came out better than I expected. I have to drive an hour to get to FastFrame and there are other framing stores closer. But none do the same great work as FastFrame. I cannot recommend them highly enough and if you have anything you want framed, you'll be so happy with their work.

It is an open space with all sorts of art supplies, tools, and just about anything your imagination can muster up. Lots of inspiration. I was hoping to make more than just one small block and have different supplies like fabric for printing. It was very therapeutic to carve my small block. The class felt a little scattered - but it was a very easy going environment, super relaxed. Our instructor was friendly and encouraged us to tap into originality without overthinking it instead of looking up patterns or inspo on our phone. I really liked that. And she offered us all coffee, freshly made. You can basically come in to do all the arts and craft your heart desires, on a donation basis. Affordable and unique way to release your artistic side without investing too much in all the supplies and then an abandoning a hobby. I'd come back with a friend and check out a different class.

They had construction paper, ribbons, highlighters, stamps, hot glue guns, and anything you might find at Michael's. Our instructor was very knowledgeable and showed us how she made her lanterns. She walked us step-by-step through the process. Now, I'm not a crafty person, but I was inspired enough by the ambiance and overflow of art supplies to get some creative juices flowing. At the end, I was able to create my own lanterns with some creative twists. I had a fun time and will recommend my crafty friends to check this place out!
