When my wife and I found out about Kumon in 2013, when the kids were 4, 6 and 9 years old, we figured we'd give it a try, a little boost to ensure academic success. Fast forward to the present - those "kids" are now 14, 16 and 19. The oldest is in SUNY Binghamton majoring in Mathematics. She likes math. She's getting As and 100s. She got a 1350 on her SATs. The middle kid is in all AP and Honors 11th grade classes and her GPA is 95. The youngest is in 9th grade with the AP and Honors courses and he's also at a GPA of 95. They excel academically. The best thing that Kumon does is it gets children accustomed to the idea that success is attained through hard work. They learn over the years that consistent hard work produces success. Kumon is not easy. Sometimes, yes, there will be stretches of familiar work, but difficult mathematical concepts will present themselves. Getting to where these concepts can be comprehended involves failure, frustration, and patience. Over time, it is learned that they can confront difficult problems and succeed. Always. This connection - hard work + consistency + patience = success ... this stays with them for life. This work ethic will enable them to master whatever is put before them. The academic confidence my kids have, the understanding that when confronted with an academic challenge, it is a pain in the ass, but with patience and work they will understand it, because they have been in this situation with Kumon hundreds of times before, and they know the drill and they anticipate their success with confidence. And in the end (which, for us, is when my kids stopped Kumon in the summers after 8th grade), you, as a parent, will end up with confident, patient, hard-working young adults who are readily able to confront academic challenges. They will be imbued with the ingrained understanding that with consistent hard work they can pursue anything they want to, academically or otherwise, with the self-assuredness of future success. This mindset is gold. P.S. it has to be an all-in whole family affair. You (and your significant other) have to help your child grind through challenges week in and week out. It is worth it.

I've written Google reviews summarizing our terrible experience but they've been magically deleted. Not sure how they did that but I hear that's not easy to do here. Two years ago, in the heart of the pandemic, we began out three year old at this school. I receive a call on day two from Trisha, the main administrator, with a sarcastic laugh "Yeah, sorry this won't work" My son pulled a girl's hair. While I acknowledge this behavior must be corrected and we are disciplinarians, they kicked my son out because he pulled someone's hair? Rather than suggesting extra services (my son had delayed speech for which he received help in the next preschool in Northport), they resorted to abrupt expulsion of a three year old. Outrageous and unfair. My 5 year old of course is now thriving as he received speech therapy. He is well behaved and shame on you for tainting a childhood. God knows what happened in the class that my son is terrified of going back. A security threat? From a three year old? Lazy and unbecoming. Even if you get this review deleted, God is watching you. No child's needs a school were the faculty shrug their faces up at children visiting and are only out for money with fees combined with fees.. Overall Bridges Academy in West Islip is a Racist Parent run school who clearly doesn't want no kids from any other background unless your white with blue eyes!!!!!

We wanted her to be in a loving environment and what better place than Stellar Tots. Weeks within switching our daughter over, we started seeing positive changes that we had not seen before at the old daycare. She was so happy in her new environment and had easily adapted to her new daycare and loving teachers. At the old daycare - we felt our daughter was ignored and not shown any affection, which we could tell with her daily behavior, constant diaper rashes and in the end unexplained bruises and injuries - which was the final straw for us to pull our daughter out. In this past year my daughter has progressed so much in every way possible we could have possible thought of and more. And she has never had a single diaper rash during this time! Learned how to write, read, build healthy relationship, become comfortable being away from home for an entire school day. she entered Kindergarten reading 1st grade level books and confident in making friends. My husband works full time and I have a disability that limits me greatly at times. LICC became the first extra care we needed to support our children's growth. It takes a bill. They are warm and loving people. My youngest began there as an infant, she is now entering preschool there. We are comfortable knowing that she is in their hands. Their grounds are safe and sanitary. They are very serious about the health of their students and faculty. My little one hates leaving for school. She would rather play with her dolls at home all day. She will cry up to the moment she reaches the school. Within minutes, they tell me (because yes, I call. And they never call me annoying...to my face ), she is happy and playing with her friend, learning and singing. Obviously, I can go on and on. They have helped my family in ways we can never repay.
