It really takes a special person (and I do mean that) to deal with other people's waste, and to do it because they love helping people. I really got the impression that this was the case, here at From Scratch. The business itself, as well as the office within (St. Charles location) was a little bit tricky to find. Fortunately it's located in a large old, converted school building, so when you've initially figured out what to look for and where the building is located and what entrance to go in, you won't forget. There is signage from the street and upon entry, and while there are two parking lots for this building and multiple doors, it's very clear which one you should enter for this business. The only downside I can think of is that the office is up several large (and cool looking!) sets of stairs. While my body does not always take kindly to stairs, I am able to navigate them if need be, but some folks can't. Perhaps there is an elevator that I am unaware of. I have only been there once (so far--my next appointment is on the books!). But if you're like me and at least able to grumble and bitch and moan your way up some stairs , you really shouldn't let this stop you! For those concerned about access to the...er...facilities, you needn't worry! There is a very private bathroom area through the colon hydrotherapy room and around the corner. You may not believe me, but my colonic really was painless. You will be walked through the process thoroughly and made to feel quite comfortable throughout the experience. I was impressed by how much the manual lymph drainage helped me too. If you, like I, suffer from a host of inflammatory and autoimmune health issues, you may well benefit from a visit to From Scratch Wellness. The ortho doctor I saw several times for this problem first injected cortisone into the shoulder which, when I awoke the next day, caused the worst pain I had experienced since the onset of my problem. Subsequent visits with the ortho guy and a MRI outlined my only option to be surgery even though the ortho guy was uncertain exactly what would be found during surgery. Being that I had arthroscopic surgery on the left should several years ago with this ortho doctor and have never felt 100% healed, I opted to try an alternative method of treatment. Jim and Valley Acupuncture came recommended to me by my masseuse so I thought...why not? I saw Jim each week for several weeks and then bi-weekly for another few weeks from March to May of 2014. I am happy to say that while I am not completely and totally pain free, I am as close to it as I believe will be possible given my activities and my age (late 50's). Prior to seeing Jim, I woke many times during the night with tingling and a heaviness that caused severe pain in my right arm. A few years later I started really studying Advanced stuff with a really incredible teacher and I suddenly realized how little Haven did for the thousands of bucks I gave them. The stuff Haven (the Mitchells) taught me was stuff that beginners should NEVER do when hypnotizing people while some of the essential basics of hypnosis were completely left out of the curriculum. In fact, they couldn't have designed a better 'what-not-to-do' course if they tried. That's not really what annoys me, though. Fast forward to now--eight years later. The American Board of Experimantal and Advanced Trance Sciences wants me for a position in their organization but they wanted to see my hypnosis certs. from the original classes I took. I needed new copies because I didn't have the originals so I called Haven to see if I could get them. I left messages--you ALWAYS have to leave messages with Haven because they don't answer their phones. No response. I called them again. And again. And again. Weeks go by and no responses. I cannot tell you how unprofessional these people are. Finally, ABEATS contacted them by email and convinced them to call me about the certifications. When the guy from Haven calls me he's pissed that I don't have the exact dates when I took their class. Then he starts griping at me that he's gotta spend an entire afternoon going thru old calendars to find out when I attended. They're required by the state to keep records so I 'm not sure what his problem is. Finally, in his annoyance, he takes my name and address then hangs up. He sends me the papers, then sends me an exorbitant bill. He never told me they cost that much to replace and I never agreed to pay him this amount. Now, I'm really annoyed that I've given them thousands of dollars for crap services and they're trying to gig me for some quick cash which they seem to think they're entitled to even though I never agreed to pay it.
