I felt bad for the front desk staff trying to check in a long line of guests because the computer system was very slow and we all waited a long time. I am writing this review on my phone while waiting for my computer to load because the internet keeps going in and out, and when it is working, it is VERY slow. Also, the bathroom area is outdated. My sink is cracked, the toilet seat is peeling, and the shower is dripping all night. The cleaning is suspect, as I found old contacts on the bedside lamp. The furniture choices are uncomfortable: a fuzzy stool for the desk and metal chairs for the table. The desk and fridge are full of snacks and beer for purchase (not my thing but maybe others appreciate?). The outlets by the bed and desk are used up by the lamps. No extra towels in room. I haven't tried the pool area yet.

The atmosphere within is always calm, quiet and serene, and the staff are very kind and let you browse without interruption, and are not pushy. Prices on what you would expect from a boutique shop: more expensive and say, a Walmart, but the quality of the items here is vastly superior, and comes with the bonus of not having to shop at a Walmart ( or any other big box retailer). Coming here is always a nice change of pace from the hustle and bustle of the rest of Bend. We picked up an outfit and some hair bows for our friend, who just gave birth to her first daughter. Seems like somebody we know is always pregnant or has just had a child every time to come through Bend, so this has become a regular stop for us! I did a double take, and then told the family that we had to go visit. I had kind of heard about the Last Blockbuster on Earth, but I didn't realize it was in Bend until we stumbled upon it. Before going in, I got to explain to my kids what borrowing DVDs and VHS tapes was like back in the day. I must have had the biggest smile walking into the store. Along the walls were artifacts from the past - a Blockbuster sign, a striped sign showing upcoming releases, old movie posters, and even a blocked off area that was decorated like a family room from the 90s. Of course, there were the aisles of DVDs that people could rent from. Very different from Blockbusters in the past, this store had loads of Blockbuster apparel and other souvenirs. I thought they were very reasonably priced. I got a t-shirt for $20. If you were born in the 90s or before, you have to visit for the waves of nostalgia. If you were born afterwards, this store is still a must-see as a glimpse of our not so distant past.

The children's section was also wonderful and my kids found so many hidden gems. A lot of hardcover books they found were at a used book price, but looked totally new to me. I thought the selection for adult and kids books and the friendliness of the staff were way better than at the bookstore downtown, so I'm glad we made the walk over.
