They did provide umbrellas, but ours was broken, so we ended up completely soaked. There's plenty of parking at the entrance, and portable potties are available before you start. The customer service has some opportunities, but overall I'm still glad I checked it out. I actually think I would've enjoyed it more in the winter than in the middle of summer. The mosquitoes were noooo joke, especially after getting drenched in the rain. Overall, it's a fun experience to do at least once if it's been on your list.

She searched for things to do and found this tour and I am sure glad she did. We did the biking tour with Don and it was wonderful. Was able to taste some local mead, beer, and rum and see parts of Portland. He was extremely friendly, fun, and informative. I am not going to lie...I was a little bummed when my wife said she booked this tour instead of the earlier biking brewery tour (visit 3 local brewery's as opposed to our scheduled mead, beer, and rum tour). But it didn't matter, it was a amazing experience. In fact, our guide pointed out man local establishments on the tour that we tried the next day (cough..cough..Forage Market) and was amazed; it truly added to our Portland experience. And we have a tour for the next time we come. All in all...6 out of 5 stars for this organization. I wish I was able to post some pictures, but to be honest, I didn't think about it as I was immersed in the moment and enjoying every second of it. The whole area is 25 acres and for the most part, kept the way it was back in the day. The architecture and old buildings were fun to look at; some even had old engraved signs stating what it was, for example a bank and hotel. There's a self guided walking tour, I saw signs throughout the main road. It's about two miles and takes an hour and a half. There were restaurants and shops throughout. A few of my favorite buildings were, the NH State House, Clock Tower, and NH State Library. Franklin Pierce, the 14th president of the US had a home there. The oldest house that is still standing was built in 1735, it belonged to Reverend Timothy Walker. My family and I enjoyed walking around, exploring, shopping, and eating there.

No moose were spotted at all even after a desperate mosquito infested walk through the woods (yes, we had bug spray but it didn't make a difference). We were told "plan B" was to drive up and down the same highway at midnight to see if the moose were out. This was a surprise for my husbands birthday, It was a surprise for both of us! This was a complete waste of time and money.

Lucy met us in the morning and we went straight to the river. It was such a gorgeous and enjoyable ride and she was so pleasant and relaxed the whole way through. She gave us some simple tips on kayaking and also some nice information on some of the wildlife and history of the area. When we reached Lake Ossipee the wind was very strong which made the lake very choppy and her lead was so assuring in the challenge that lay ahead of us - she was awesome and we made it to the other side of the lake without any issues whatsoever.
